Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

A group of Imagineers who were with WDI when it was WED and balked at the idea of an attraction based off of something as scary as Alien in the MK. I agree with them.

But why should the MK be off limits to scary attractions? The MK used to be more than Pre-school Kingdom.

I do agree at the time it was probably the wrong choice. I'd imagine if it were Epcot or MGM it'd still be running (maybe with some changes).

How do they justify leaving empty spaces? It's ridiculous. The sad thing is all four parks need more and they panic having to close anything, yet they leave empty buildings and restaurants. It's just so sloppily run all over the place.
I think someone reported earlier in the thread that feedback from some guests was that having it was worse than having nothing.

With such poor reviews it makes sense to close it unless you are desperate enough to need the capacity, even though many guests will be less satisfied with their visit having tried out the attraction.

What panic, btw?

There's a tendency they have to be reluctant to close things because they know the parks can't handle lowering the capacity anymore than it already is. So I suggested they 'panic' at the thought of closing anything, which insiders have backed up before.

But I know "why" it's better in the case of Stitch. Was more commenting how ridiculous it is that one of the most attended parks in the world that's busting at the seams for capacity isn't in more of a hurry to replace it. But I know 'why'.

That should hardly be a problem for the worlds top creative company. The WIR format had a lot of potential. I don’t know if it was appeal, IP or story that let it down. Technically it was a sound proposal. Aside from the VR version. IMHO.
Do you think they might bring this back to the table if they can't think of anything else? I kind of liked the proposal, however, I am biased as I actually love WIR and am excited about the sequel. I hate empty spaces and it'd be a real shame if something isn't put here by the 50th anniversary.

They should put in Alien with modified restraints. Guests pull them down with the assistance of cast members :)

I know many liked this attraction but I went on it at 8 and it was horribly terrifying to me. I remember not understanding the water that would hit you in the back of the neck was in fact just in water and I just closed my eyes and wished it to go away. So the 8 year old in me says no thank you to a reboot of that.

I'm not saying it will come back or it should, in any of the parks or another version that's the same style... alien turned into stich as an example.. but I wonder if they could make it where you could choose how much of a thrill you get. The DBOXs have where you can adjust how much your chair shakes in movie theaters. It would be easy to have a switch that either turns on effects or doesn't, or if you pull down the restraints (they aren't for safety) you get the full experience if not leave it up. You could still get the sounds just not the water or shaking or (I don't remember I rode stitch once and never will again regardless if they open it seasonally)

They could track the magicbands of the guests with age restrictions.

That’s an AWESOME idea! :D

NRJ isn't a dud. Not everything has to be an E-Ticket attraction. It's a great ride for families with really little kids, and it's also a good ride for seniors. Little Mermaid is also a great attraction for family with little ones. Monsters Inc Laugh Floor is one of my all time favorites, and my 2 first-timer friends thought it was absolutely hilarious! Toy Story Land is much needed in HS, considering the only thing relevant and entertaining for the 8 year olds and under are Little Mermaid and Disney Jr.

Your ideas of "duds" are not relevant to the majority of people. You should have listed, say, the Up! bird show and Path of the Jedi. THOSE are duds. None of what you have listed are duds. The only argument you can make is NRJ, but only because it's not worth the current wait time. If it was between a 5-30 minute wait daily, it wouldn't get so ridiculed. Nobody stomps on 3 Caballeros for an even less experience.

3 Caballeros actually has a plot and things actually happen. NRJ is basically Atmosphere: The Ride...the entire ride feels like the build up to the actual beginning of a proper ride, then it's over.

It's like going on Splash Mountain and having it end after the first scene.

I say second because it would count as free advertising for the new movie (or new-ish depending on when it opens) and because incredicoaster's story follows the incredibles 2's plot involving the family discovering jack-jack's powers. I could imagine jack jack burning up into a flame, causing the power to cut out in the room some how and air effects to give the illusion that he is bouncing across the wall and the other incredibles are trying to catch him.
It's genius now I think about it. If disney isn't thinking about this option, I don't know what they are thinking about (hopefully alien encounter related, but that will probably never happen).
EDIT: I'm totally gonna make a imagineering thread on this idea now.
EDIT 2: Done

When I saw someone in this thread suggest Incredibles for this space, I thought the exact same thing....Jack Jack's Great Escape. I am not saying I like it but it seems, on its face, to be really plausible given what Disney is doing lately.

Disclaimer: this is just my personal opinion, not fact. I am not an insider and have no idea if Incredibles is on the table for this space or not.

In all fairness given the numerous warnings perhaps it wasn’t the best attraction for an 8 year old to experience.

That begs the question.. should the magic kingdom be more geared to all ages rides/attractions while the other parks can have rides that are more adult. With 4 parks that is kind of my feeling. While I love the magic kingdom (second to epcot, although they are trying to change my feelings) they have the capability to do that. I am not saying height restricted, that's a different thing (space mountain, soon to be tron) but theming wise shouldn't things be more kiddie safe. ID love to hear peoples opinions.
