Just a thought about how to fit a decent size dark ride where Stitch currently sits (ORANGE). Marni has mentioned the space is not very conducive to putting a dark ride where the theaters currently sit but assume they gut it, fill the theater pit holes, and spend some dough to change some support structure. What if in addition to taking the spaces MisterPengiun added up they also expand out and enclose the current entrance outside queue area in addition to the stores in the corner (BLUE) and enclose and add the exit area under and around the Peoplemover near the Hub canal (PURPLE). They could use Star Traders as the start of the queue (GREEN). That should be enough space for a decent size dark ride. Thoughts....

What you marked off is the .64 acres I mentioned above. Larger than Buzz at .55 acres.

Don't know if the building is amenable to major changes. I mean, anything's possible with the right budget. But, they seem to be a bit budget conscious right now with all the lands and E-Tickets and resorts and whatnot they're building.

The issue here is.. will Disney be willing to relocate the stores and food areas?

Speaking of Stitch.. how tall can they build in tomorrowland?
Could they increase the "size" of the capacity in the area by building upwards (Ie an attraction with 2 floors, ala Arthur and the Minimoys

Martin's videos are indeed the best. Between letting me relive old attractions long gone I missed (like Horizons) or attractions I never got to experience (Meet the World), his vids are always welcomed and appreciated
Yep. I watched the video on JII after and felt pretty happy (and at the same time, terribly sad- insert rant about Imagination & Dreamfinder not being at Epcot anymore)
The original preshow was even more unfitting

Gosh I love Phil Hartman. That version of the pre-show really didn’t fit at all, but at the same time, it was Phil Hartman, so I can’t not like it.

Too much effort?

Quicker, cheaper, easier to build a new themed shed in the parking lot or next to the CoP? And they still retain the theatre format attraction (which there is nothing wrong with)
Is there really nothing wrong with the theater format if it's taken them this long to come up with a proper replacement? I'm not saying that it's impossible to do something great in there, but as established, the space is inherently limiting. Personally, I feel that if Disney is going to transform this space, they're going to need to open up their wallets because what we have here is not a quick fix.

The theater format is just fine. Honestly, the Stitch IP is fine. They just need to rework the attraction something ridiculous. I'd be OK with another theater show.

Nope, nothing is wrong with it.

The WIR proposal was deeemd not good enough. Attractions prior to SGE show the space can be well utilised. SGE shows a good idea can fail with a weak script (and flawed implementation).

Yeah that's true. A lot of millenials grew up with stitch, so we all still like him quite a bit. Younger kids though, probably don't even know who the character is, or don't care about the character. He's kinda like the new roger rabbit, once uber popular, still is with older demographics, not so much with kids.

No. Kids are still crazy about Stitch. It’s a Disney movie. He’s a timeless charecter, nothing like Roger Rabbit.

But Tim Curry's vocal performance was so perfect!
Like, I definitely think it was unsettling, but I'm not sure that the unaware parents (those who ignored all previous amounts of signage that were everywhere- I was a kid and I noticed that) would have known.

I have a friend whose sister used to be a CM for AE, and she said her sister saw Shaq (or another basketball player) lose his marbles during it.

I remember when my wife and I were still dating, she freaked out a bit and ended up with her shoulders turned sideways (90 degrees from normal seating position) and the restraint ratcheted down to its lowest setting. It was pretty funny seeing her when the lights came on and the attraction let out, with her torso between the shoulder restraints. We laughed pretty hard about it.

This was Alien Encounter, not Stitch.

I worked at the main street ice cream Parlor at WDW last summer. Every time someone got a sundae, I'd ask who there favorite character was. Then I'd draw the character (or something from their movie) in whip cream/cherries.

It wasn't something that they do regularly at the ice cream parlor, just something I did to make it a little extra magic for the guests.

Anyways, Stitch was easily the answer I got most from every age group. It was almost all Stitch, Belle, and Mickey. Granted, this may not be a perfect indication of what people actually feel. But I got a pretty broad spectrum of guests and Stitch was huge. And that was just last summer

Is it really so difficult to fix Stitch? The show's like 65% good, IMO. A better storyline or borrowed plot points from Stitch has a Glitch, a removed chili burp (maybe replace with a different scent) maybe a spray effect and some comic relief from Pleakley and Jumba and the show would be a success.

He just needs to be less mean and gratuitous and more innocently impish.

I always like the bits when a character says something unintelligible in a different language and the response by a straight character implies it was crude or offensive (see R2-D2 and C-3PO or Stich's exchange with Jumba about his mother). Implied gratuity, such as the above or Donald Duck's quacking rage, is way funnier than actual gratuity.

I could be wrong, but I feel like Stitch has kind of reached that "Figment" status of being something of a park/company mascot, as opposed to being known just from the thing he originated. I feel like there are a lot of people who either don't remember the old Journey Into Imagination or hate the new one, but they love Figment as this symbol of Epcot and nostalgia, so you could maybe say that he transcends his attraction. I think to some people, Stitch may have a similar role, in that he is remembered for his movie and all that, but he is almost as well known for just being all over merchandise and being visible in the park.

Maybe that's a stretch, but it's a thought.

Aha! Burp = Candy Bar.

Stitch smells a candy bar! Mmm. Guests shout as Stitch shuffles by them. The shouting is both screams of terror and laughter. (Stitch is inadvertently tickling guests searching for candy.) Stitch finds the sugary treat (like taking candy from a baby) and eats it whole, wrapper and all causing him to burp. ( a chocolate-peanut butter smell) During chaos it's made known that Stitch is allergic to peanuts. Stitch sneezes...

Serviceable. Running gag of show is chase sequence and failed attempts by Pleakley and Jumba to capture and fix Stitch. Ends with a Jumba-tech sleep blaster gun (fog burst) putting Stitch to sleep and back into the revitalization fusion chamber. Chamber closes. Stitch's glitch is being fixed. Show ends. We exit to a meet n greet! (or something there abouts) I wonder if the solution for what ails this attraction could be realized by substituting Scary for Silly or better still, Horror to Hijinks.

I really wish they'd keep Stitch around. The show just needs some retooling and a better storyline. (or again, the return of AE)

The best and easiest budget-friendly solution would be to retheme Stitch back to Alien Encounter (what else would work? Lol). If they can bring back Captain EO due to popular demand then they can definitely bring back the original Journey into Imagination and The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter.
