Steve Davison hints at 2 new projects

Just because something has a line doesn't mean it doesn't need to be replaced. Last time I checked Primevel Whirl carried an average 40+ minute wait in the summer.

People like explosions. Not surprising.

You cant wait until it is so unbelievably tired before replacement or it is too late. In show business you have to keep adapting or you find yourself the dinosaur.

you find yourself the dinosaur = the MK afternoon parade.

Well the first project I bet is the new daytime parade. Second coould be a replacement for Wishes.... there have been rumors about a "Dreams" type show and also MK getting a new lighting system...
This would put WDW back on top of Universal with a new parade and WOC type show.

Which is more popular - daytime or night time parade? I can't imagine spending the money to re-do the 3:00 when the evening parade needs to actually be replaced.

I think it will be-

New day parade for Magic Kingdom

Major overhaul of WDW's Fantasmic
I think based on all our clues in this thread this prediction makes the most sense. Davidson commented during a talk-back session for Soundsational that he was brainstorming ideas for a parade at WDW and we all know MK needs it. And an update to F! after how successful DL's was is a no brainier.

On a side note... Drew, that's the best avatar you've had in awhile! LOL

Lol. Only on this site can we hear about two new projects and people are upset that not every single nighttime show is getting re-done. Par for the course.

Sure, it would be nice to get new versions of Illuminations or Fantasmic, but they don't "need" it, whereas the MK needs a parade. Wishes is a touching fireworks show, and has a place in a lot of hearts, but it's "just a fireworks show".

The problem with making that agrument is that entertainment is rarely "needed". It is the job of management to be able to feel out when a show or attraction needs updating or replacing based on guest feedback and what they can do to make a show better. And I, for one, am far more concerned about Fantasmic than anything at the Magic Kingdom....

Entertainment can be truly tragic, but people will still line up to watch it..because it's there and its deemed part of the experience.

Actually, someone who works in entertainment will tell you the daytime parade (and street parties) are far more important than the nighttime parade....

That isn't at all what I said and check back on my posts, I am not a complainer.

One can not deny that it has been a long time since the major entertainment offerings have been replaced or updated. While two new shows are desperately needed and a very welcome addition one can't help but wonder how the aging shows that arent touched will be viewed after the updates.

I liken it to painting you living room and updating you kitchen... Afterward you realize how tired and bad your family room looks and how dated your bathrooms are.

Good analogy. And there are reasons you can't do all the rooms at once.

Money isn't limitless.

You actually have to live in the house while you're updating it.

Could be a new parade for DCA? If Steve was to do a nighttime parade, probably would be for DL or DCA. Not WDW.

As far as the new daytime parade for WDW, wasn't that already in the works before these two other projects came about?

ok sense we are hoping a little bit here
lets hope that:
MGM or DHS what ever you want to call it is going to get Hunchback returned with the addition of Aladdin from California.

The return of Dream finder and a proper Figment ride (aka bringing back the original with some new technology)

Magic Kingdom gets the proper Christmas shows back (Twas the night, Country bears, etc)

Animal Kingdom gets the proper love for the TOL and they get a new land to enhance the park.

I really wish that Figment ride gets a proper redo but I would also love to see some thing new come out of Imagineering. The movie Ratatouille said it best we all know about the old stuff and the old stuff rehashed for some thing new we all want something NEW, something that will make us all go wow there are some people here that still care about the spirit of imagination and the spirit to do the impossible. Remember it is fun to do that.

Fantasmic! has gone way downhill. When we saw it a few weeks ago, the projector for the Beast side was down for the entire show. The snake didn't move. The preshow entertainment was awesome though. It was usually a nightmare (no pun intended) to wait for the show to start.

Just thought I'd comment... The snake in Fantasmic is a conga line of human performers, not any kind of breakable animatronic. If there's a safety issue on stage (typically if the stage is wet and slippery) the snake doesn't move and the performers just stand in one place.

I guess with alot of money going in to the queue lines to make them more entertaining money is flying there without really adding a new attraction. I think that is more because of how the nexgen fastpass will work so they want to appease those of us standing in the regular queue's (I'm thinking our wait times are going to get seriously longer). Peter Pan is to get the upgraded queue once the new walkway by haunted mansion opens up and they open those bathrooms and close down the peter pan bathrooms to make room for that new queue.

My thing is by the time imagineering comes up with the attraction, they work on it for what seems forever, then they have to do the engineering/buildling it, by the time it opens, it's already out of date.

EPCOT could use a couple new attractions even though their old ones get updated, they are not really new or that different. Wish something would go in to the old area where Wonders of Life was.

Hi all,

Just a quick comment - for the people who were saying about a new night-time show or moving Fantasmic! to AK; are they actually able to do this? I would have thought there are limitations on noise and light because of how it would affect the animals.. And Fantasmic! and anything firework related seem too loud to me for the poor animals?

Just a thought; oh, and also that it hasn't been announced that these plans are for WDW!!

I hope they are though :) make what is already fantastic, even better!! They've always been the best, so they have to keep their status :)

We don't know. :) Animal Kingdom is a big park (the biggest, actually), and it may be theoretically possible to put such a show near the front of the park since most of the animals are in the back. Or it may not be. It's for that reason that most of the entertainment options discussed for AK around here have been of the World of Color fountains-style show or nighttime parade variety.

If I had to guess, I would say that this news likely doesn't relate to Animal Kingdom. I think for the time being, Disney is going to let Avatar-land be the main forerunner for Animal Kingdom's expansion, and everyone will to have to let the dust settle around that (or see whether it even happens) before further nighttime entertainment is announced for AK.

My bet still stands on made-from-scratch Magic Kingdom daytime parade and an overhaul of Fantasmic.
