Like both your ideas! Beastly would have been different and cool...and I would love to see a Mysterious Island as well...DAK needs dark rides so badly!

Or just build mysterious island...

What do we know about Mysterious Island? Is the expectation that it would be a clone of what's in Tokyo Disney Sea?

Whereas I think they should scrap Avatarland and build the ORIGINAL DISNEY CONCEPT of Beastly Kingdomme.

We actually had a debate about this on our show that comes out on Sunday - we took the position that had Disney built Beastly Kingdom the park would have been worse off.

That decision was a very substantial turning point in the Disney/Universal rivalry.

  • If Beastly Kingdom gets built, Islands of Adventure would likely not have opened with the Lost Continent (Dueling Dragons or Flight of the Unicorn). This could mean that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter could have taken a different shape.
  • If Beastly Kingdom gets built, Festival of the Lion King does not get built.
  • If Beastly Kingdom gets built, Expedition Everest doesn't get built.
  • If Beastly Kingdom gets built, it's possible that Countdown to Extinction wouldn't be built, but more likely that The Excavator gets built instead of Dinorama

Having said all that, a new version of Beastly Kingdom is conceivable, but I think the fear is that it would be piggybacking on the success of Harry Potter without the merchandise tie in.

Not exactly. Probably the same physical layout and structure, but themed and dressed to something more DAK. Same for what would have been the main E ticket. 20k would possibly have been the same theme as Tokyos.

Once again people, Steve Davison is the VP of Parades and Spectaculars...entertainment. So both of these rumoured projects will be some kind of parade of nighttime entertainment. Not really the place to be talking about possible attractions and expansions.

that's never going to happen at WDW so you might as well stop dreaming

Nobody's dreaming....it almost happened.

Its the one thing I doubt I will ever see and I would love to have here. Even though people love to criticize it would be a clone you can probably count on one hand the members of the forum that have seen it.

If it did happen, I'd be constantly comparing it to DisneySea's version anyway and I can guess about the quality differences already...

I cant give out details if it hasnt been released on the wdwnews.com website but if it were going to be gone think of early next year:animwink:

Well as long as they have it in the works and the new parade doesnt get its budget axed before then, its at least good to know they are working on something.

That's just something people on Internet forums say, it has no basis in reality.

The vast majority of guests to a Disney theme park have never been to another one. Even the amount of people who go to WDW and Disneyland both is tiny, and as you say - when you get to the international parks, that number becomes infinitely small (and irrelevant).

"Clones" make a great deal of sense - you get more bang for your buck when the R&D is done, or at least shared. And since the vast majority of guests will never see the other one, any lack of originality is moot - not to mention, that the general public actually likes it the OTHER way - they get mad that x-attraction they heard about/saw on TV/etc. is only at one park and not another.

It's the tired fan-made-up excuse as to why we have not seen Indy at WDW, because it's ride track in CA mirrors Dinosaur at AK (not that anyone would notice - I have ridden Dinosaur over 100x and Indy a few dozen and I would have never known had I not read it before). The real reason is that they haven't felt like spending that kind of money for a dark ride at the studios, not to mention the fact that since the original ride was built nearly 20 years ago, it's doubtful it would be any sort of direct brick for brick clone anyway.

World of Color Style Show to replace illuminations.

My money is on a Fantasmic make-over for WOC. We were there in Feb. and my family was invited to watch the Illuminations from the dock (YAAAAAY!!!!) and we asked about how much longer the show would go on and he said as of now, indefinitely. They have contractual agreements into the future for (I can't remember exactly how long but I think...) 5 years. Then there may be something new on the horizon, but since they won the 2009 Best Outdoor Nighttime Production GT award (he may have mentioned something else as well) they aren't planning anything right now. He said, as long as people like it they won't get rid of it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Which is fine with me because I LOOOOOVE it! :sohappy:

"Contractual agreements"? :veryconfu

I find the show incoherent even on good days. It needs serious plussing and more scale to fit the setting it is in. Either that or an entirely new show.
