Staying Onsite For The Magic.

Good Evening Folks. Heres one to ponder. We have friends who go to Florida every year and stay in a villa but this year decided to stay onsite at CBR for the first time. They had a fantastic time but came back with this theory. That WDW is more than a theme park. Its a place of escapism, where CM's tell you to have a magical day, where the skies light up every night with fireworks, where you can walk around the parks late at night and your so safe from the real world.Anyway they have booked two weeks onsite for next year.It made me think. Is staying onsite your escape from the outside world one of the reasons.WDW is more than just another theme park,it's a escape from reality. What are your views on this.?:)

I don't even want to stay at a Villa on property because I do not want to even see a kitchen or washer and dryer when I'm on vacation. And like someone mentioned earlier, we don't have to pass on a drink or two in the evening because we're driving.
We have friends that have rented homes or condos and loved them because they can cook breakfast (shudder). They also like having a pool but we have pools and who needs a pool when you have water parks.
Wow! Thats exactly what staying onsite is all about.Who wants a washer & dryer. Who wants to drive when you drive all day at your work.Relax and have a drink and take in all the magic that surrounds you.Pools you got plenty at each resorts and two awesome water parks. If you love Disney, then onsite is the only way.:)

It's onsite for us! Nothing beats being able to escape the real world and live in your own fantasy world. Just the convenience of the food, transportation or free parking, EMH and theming makes it a no brainer for us. We stayed off-site for the first few times we went but once we tried the resorts we were done! We even stayed offsite at a condo that bordered AK for several nights which hardly costs anything since we traded points. We ended up extending our stay two more nights at ASMo so we could feel the "magic"!:D It just is not the same...:p
Join the onsite club.Completely agree with what you said.Easy answer to this is.You wanna see Florida, stay offsite. You wanna see & breath the magic, stay onsite.;)

Washer & dryer - people who want clean clothes without packing a ton, I'm retired and I only drive where I want, I don't drink and I don't need one to be surrounded by the magic. But, apparently I don't love disney.

This is me. I am not cooking, vacuuming, cleaning a toilet anything on vacation. I love leaving my room in the AM and coming back to a clean room , a little mousekeeping magic and not having to worry. Disney is a full on escape and no way I want to stay offsite ever again!

BUT I dont buy the you have to stay onsite if you love Disney. Options are good.. while we prefer the full on Disney bubble..not everyone does..which is good.. because I dont want the buses and resorts any fuller!

not really. Because for the most part i travel with fellow 20somethings, we feel safe knowing our way around the hotels, the security, the buses and other transports, and magical express. I feel blessed to be able to stay onsite, but frankly, no matter where you stay you come out with the same memories, same experience, etc. It doesn't matter where you stay. What matters is that you have the time of your life.

I want to stay onsite. I want to land at MCO and have Magical Express take me home. I want to hear "welcome home" when we check in. I want to be driven between home and the Parks and hear the announcements before we get to the Parks. I want the option to have our purchases sent to the resort for us. I want to get into the Parks early. I want to be in the bubble. I want to make ADRs for 'Ohana before people not staying on property get the chance to. I don't mind paying more for it.

We each have our own idea of "magic", mine comes from within. I feel it everytime I walk into a park and see Main Street or SSE or the Hat or Tree of Life.

Be prepared to be flamed my friend! There are harda$$, old school posters on here whose spidey senses are tingling right now, and they'll be here soon to give you a piece of their minds. ;)

Staying in a condo or house doesn't mean you have to cook or drive, lol.

If depressing that gas pedal is just too much for you, there are busses and cabs off the WDW property, too.

There is nothing wrong with staying in a single room or any of the WDW hotels/motels. But the nicest hotels in Orlando are off the Disney property.

People who truly care about service and "luxury" hotels will not want to be staying in a WDW resort.

If you want 5 star luxury, you can find it at WDW, the Grand Floridian.
However, there are seven 5 star resorts off property.
I've often wondered if the people staying at those resorts even go to the parks.
Do they wait in line for an hour to get into TSM or Soarin?
Do they get packed into the buses like sardines by a person making in one year what they're wearing around their wrists? Just wondering.

Yes, this is so true. It is more then a theme park. You do leave reality and get completely immersed in the Disney magic!! This is why we will only stay on site. Its not worth seeing and facing the outside world - i want to escape. Escape to my happiest place on earth!

We are all about the on property "magic." What I love about being on property is, as soon as we go under that Walt Disney World welcome sign, its all Disney! No Burger Kings, no advertisements for anything, just the blue and purple signs that I look forward to seeing for an entire week. Although we take a taxi here and there for the sake of convenience, I always cringe a little because it takes away from the magic. My husband doesn't want to drive (his commute is 1 1/2 hours each way normally) so Disney transportation works just fine for us. For us, being on property is at least half the experience and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I didn't find it at the GF.

The people who do these ratings don't find it at the GF.

I'm glad you did, but most people don't.

You will not only spend less, but you'll get much better service and bigger, nicer rooms off the Disney property.

Been there hundreds of times, but never stayed there. Just posting that there is a 5 star resort on property if that's what someone wants.
If you're correct that most people don't find it magical, why has it been doing so well for such a long time? And they'll be a DVC there soon to boot.
I don't buy into the whole "you can only feel the magic if you stay on property" baloney anyways.

I didn't say that Disney fans don't find it magical. I'm sure some do. I said that I didn't find 5-star luxury there.

Disney service simply doesn't compare to real luxury hotels. They can get away with that because most people don't know the difference. And they have a good location.

But Disney charges a LOT more and offers a lot less. It is a good thing they're selling magic, lol.

Oh my,What have I started?. You do not have to stay onsite to feel the magic. However the moment your head hits the pillow, your still inside the magic bubble, and when you awake and look outside your window, you realise it wasn't a dream last night, your still here.Thats the difference, total immersion. As far as 5 star luxury.I consider myself lucky enough to be staying onsite at a Disney resort, wither it be a value, moderate,or deluxe. The smile of my DS face each morning is 7 stars in my book.;)
