Starting Packing

OK so today I had a little down time because it is raining here and our outdoor pool plans got cancelled. So, I decided to start packing by carry-on. So far I have the ponchos, hand sanitizer, chapstick (a must have for my DD and I) band-aids and hand wipes. I know I have a lot more to go but don't want to pack too soon.

I feel like my wife and I are slacking because we haven't started packing for our October trip yet... I blame this on all of you lol ;)

Actually the only reason we haven't started packing for our trip yet is because we are packing to move into our new house :D As soon as we are moved in we will unpack and start packing for Disney at the same time!

Every time I pack a few things, I think of a few new things I want. Tennis shoes, backpack, etc. I know that is silly because I have all of that, that would work just fine so why do I feel the need to buy new stuff just because I'm going to DISNEY??

We went to the mall yesterday and of course dropped by The Disney Store and bought some stuff for the trip. My wife started packing last night, we have 31 days!!!!

I usually don't pack until the night before -- but the one thing I do is get a Disney Gift Card a few weeks before and load it up with a couple hundred bucks and use that in the parks and restaurants instead of money or credit cards -- it then feels all paid for up front already. Plus, I carry the card around in my wallet for a couple weeks so it feels all anticipatory....

Usually a month before our trip I take the cases out and air them outside (they are down our cellar) and then leave one open in the living room about two weeks before and start popping things in as I think of them that way I don't forget. And always when we are away my DH will say "did you bring (insert what he needs)" and I can say yes and I totally agree it's all apart of the fun of planning.

We go in October but have started to pack my Disney "box". The inlaws come next week and they will take it with them when for when they drive down. Includes $1 ponchos from Walmart, cereal, misc. snacks, paper plates, sunscreen, shampoo, laundry detergent. I am already planning what I will pack for clothes, I try to take less each year since we are able to do laundry. I always pack everyone jeans, just in case a night is cool....but we never wear them. I like the idea about the gift cards, maybe I'll try that this year!

My boys are getting my DD a Disney Gift Card for her Birthday so that she will have her own spending money on top of what she has already saved since she doesn't know we're going yet. 6 more days and I can tell her. YEAH!!! :D

Haha! You guys will think I'm insane! While I don't start puting things in suitcases more than a couple weeks beforehand, I make a packing list and "to buy" list like a year in advance! We don't have a Disney Store in Omaha, so we have to go to Kansas City, and every time we go I'm always thinking "ok, what do we need for the trip???" Last year we went in October for our trip in May and I was buying t-shirts, swimsuits, princess dresses for BBB and all sorts of stuff for our trip which was 7 months away! I get a little OCD about this stuff. My husband thinks I'm nuts because I always try to have my kids wear a t-shirt which has a character on it that they are going to meet that day of our trip. So, when we go to HS, my son has to wear his Jake and the Neverland Pirates shirt and my daughter has to wear her Phineas and Ferb shirt. once I make our schedule for the trip (like a year out), I start looking for these shirts!
