Starbucks coming to Disney parks

Also it is milk. In Disney as of right now the best place to get stuff close to the taste of Starbucks is Staring Rolls Cafe in Hollywood Studios (sometimes Writer's shop is good really depends on the staff that day though), the cart in the Italian Pavilion at Epcot, The shop right next to the Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom (its like a quick service pastry/breakfast place I can't remember the name) and I don't know a place in Animal Kingdom but will update once I'm working and can taste a few more places. Outside the parks the Deluxe resorts have good coffee. Kona Kafe is the best of them all though.

Basically the issue with Disney's stuff is it isn't really monitored for quality by a recipe. Each barista cm (if you want to go as far as to call them that) does what they want to make the drinks as fast as you can. Also most of the machines are automatic and I hardly ever see them check to see how fast the shots are pulling or the temperature of the milk. If either one of those things is off you'll get bitter espresso drinks and flat hot chocolate.

I'm not saying Starbucks is the best but at least they care about their quality and if you write into the company about having terrible drinks there they will do their best to address the situation.

I wonder if Disney ever considers the possibility of bringing in their own "original" product rather than famous brands. After all, things like their stuffed animals and shirts aren't sold as licensed Gund or American Apparel products, and they sell just fine (and are inferior in quality to other brand manufacturers).
Actually, a huge portion of Disney in-park merch is either made by or licensed with other companies, like Hanes with the t-shirts and Crocs with those ugly things they sell, and I know of several other examples. Bringing in outside product is not always bad, and it's good when it is executed as well as Starbucks has done with the FF&P in DCA.

On another note, I would love to see Starbucks not only in the parks, but also at the Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts. The first thing that comes to mind when I type this is Contemporary Grounds, the Disney-run "gourmet" coffee shop located in the main lobby level on the Magic Kingdom side of the Contemporary Resort. It's great already, but it would be even better as a full on Starbucks. The only change needed would be menus and equipment.

Coffee is very different than clothing. For Disney to have their own brand of coffee they would have to have a relationship with coffee farms, pay for research for beverage recipes, quality control, etc.

Not really.. do you really think your local grocery store is in the cereal business, dairy business, soda business, etc? :) Companies simply contract an existing producer to create a branded product line for the chain. It's what all 'generic' brands do.. and they are often made by the same producers of brand name stuff.

Disney had introduced their own generic chips at DL if I recall..

Starbucks I find too expense as is if Disney adds a markup it be very easy for me to avoid them.

Do people even drink coffee in Orlando in Summer? , hum..... 85 degrees 95 percent humidity a hot coffee be nice.
My grandma and aunt drank coffee and hot tea every day during our late August trip. Not even just at breakfast or at night - they would stop in the bakery midday for a cup of hot tea. Average temps that week? Oh, about 95. Yeah, boggles my mind too!

I drank coffee and hot cocoa last week at Disney. It's not the temperature that I crave, it's the taste. And while it may be 90 degrees outside, you spend much of your day in frigid queue lines and shops. Also, Starbucks makes iced coffee and frappuccinos. Mocha light fraps will be very welcome in the parks...compared to the very sugary frozen drinks they currently carry.

I generally go to WDW during slower times of the year, so I've never seen the Noodle Station in MK open. I think that would be a great place for a Starbucks. Enough out of the way that it wouldn't be a bother to those not interested in it, but a nice covered area with lots of seating and restrooms.

I think I can count on one hand how many times I've seen that Noodle Station open. On one of those moments, curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to try it. Quite honestly, I can get better food at a Chinese Food off Disney Property somewhere. :)

Just wondering when Starbucks was going to be venturing east and landing at WDW - heard a coffee shop would be in place next to Gastons Tavern (the building with a purple roof on renderings) - wondered if it would be a Starbucks - here's hoping!

I assume you mean a Disney-themed location that happens to sell Starbucks coffee, as opposed to a "Starbucks" coffee shop with Starbucks signage and decor. I could see the former happening oneday, but a little part of me would die inside if I saw the latter in Fantasyland.

EDIT: From this article, it does look like the coffee shops would be themed to their park location. Whew! http://www./2012/04/themed-starbuck...walt-disney-world-and-disneyland-theme-parks/

If one were put in that area, I'm not sure where it would go -- across from Gaston's Tavern is Bonjour Gifts, and beyond it, through the archway, is restrooms.

DCA did a great job - I couldn't even find it without asking someone. You would have no idea until you looked at their menu.

Im wondering if the Starbucks at MK is going into the building in Adventureland formerly known as the Crows Nest?

I would hope not. Having been to the one in DCA they have 4 registers going non stop, and it still takes 15-20 minutes to get served. At 3PM, not even prime coffee time. Heck, they could kick out Tink and Friends and use that space. Looks to be the right size to me.

As long as the same is true at WDW I have no issues with them finding their way into the parks. The idea of people knowing there is a Starbucks and therefore forming a line that stretches down mainstreet however...

Hope to hear more about this soon! I was really looking forward to having Starbucks there for our December trip, but nothing so far :(

yeah, i'd be psyched to hear something soon, too. i tried to grab a cup of coffee to keep me going before EMH at MK a month or so back and...worst decision ever.

15 pages of coffee discussion - WOW!! You'd think Disney just announced a new roller coaster dark ride or something! Seriously though coffee starts your day and gets us in focus. What's everyone's opinion of Chock Full o' Nuts coffee? Remember the "Heavenly Coffee"? We just opened a Chock Cafe in Connecticut and their products are amazing!
