Star Wars

Ugh, I hate George Lucas, I wish I owned the originals on VHS instead of the 1997 special edition. I am going to buy the DVDs Tuesday, mostly because I no longer have a working VCR in my house, and it'll be nice to have the DVD quality and 5.1 surround. Does any body know if George will EVER release untouched version of the trilogy again or has he simply destroyed the originals?

Why do you hate him? After all if it was not for George Lucas there would be no Star wars!
Besides it does not matter what you or anyone else thinks, Star wars Is his baby and he can raise it as he sees fit. He was not happy with the original, time and technology restraints and now that he has the time and the technology he has altered it to what he wanted it to be all along.

I think he's made clear time and again that there's no "old" Star Wars or "new" Star Wars. What we see is what we get. The old ______________...

For those of you who think he's right, watch the South Park Episode "Free Hat".

Well I liked George until he changed his films. Yes he has the rights to do to his films as he sees fit, but he shouldn't be so selfish. I'm am quite sure that over the years he has gotten a very very large amount of hate mail from disgruntled Star Wars fans who dissagree with changing the film, making Greedo shoot first and so on. Why can't he get the hint that most people enjoy the films more as they were and not how they are now.

The interview in Entertainment Weekly talks about the changes made to Ep. IV. Lucas explains that he didn't have the time or the money to make the film he wanted. The movie that is on the DVD is the movie that Lucas wanted to make. The majority of the changes are in Ep. IV. Lucas had an unlimited budget for the rest of the movies, so he could make his vision appear on screen.

I liked that Han fired first. It makes his transformation at the end of Ep. IV more dramatic.

The EW interview drops hints about a future for Star Wars on TV. Nothing definate.

if you want the originals.... go on ebay and get a VCD copy and a VCD player.. (I think thats what they were called...)

I cannot wait to see these.... I have the original 1977 copy on tape in original box too... :)

Picked up my Widescreen version as well as Star Wars Battlefront on PS2.

You're gonna have to give us a review of Battlefront because I'm not big into video games anymore...but if it's good, I'm gonna have to run out and pick it up.

I opted for Fullscreen, mostly because I don't have a widescreen TV.
I really want to see how Battlefront is, I'm thinking about buying it, I second the request for a review :)

I"m going to pick up the trilogy today after work. I know there will be many more editions to come out, but I'm going to get this one and stick with it. I'll probably also get the Battlefront game sometime soon.

Waiting for Mom to get home and see if she brought it back with her. I'm watching Episode one to keep me sane until the DVD's get here.

Okay, a word on Battlefront. The game is alot of fun so far, I'm just not sure if it will quite have longevity for me. I love Star Wars and in the "Historical Campaign" mode, they use clips from the movies in order to advance the story between missions. The thing with Historical Campaign mode, is that you don't choose one side or the other there, it instead gives you which side you will be representing based on the battle(which makes Yavin IV really fun because the first battle there you play as the Empire, but the second you are the Rebellion). The mode that I like is the "Galactic Conquest" mode. You choose if you would like to be one of the four factions: Republic, CIS, Rebellion or Empire. At my son's request, I played as the CIS. You start out with your fortress world of Geonosis and another planet that has a comm relay on it. Each planet gives you a special ability that it can grant you. You are allowed to choose one ability based on which planets you control. So in the beginning, the opposing faction will control all the other worlds. My suggestion is to take over Tatooine first as it will give you the special ability of "Jedi Hero." Playing as the CIS, Count Dooku ended up fighting on my side the rest of the time and being the big nasty that he is, he was able to help me easily take down the Republic. It does give you some kinda neat extras when you beat certain planets in different modes, such as concept art and an image gallery of Endor. I do have the PS2 version which runs smoothly and looks great. I'm thinking that in the near future I may invest in the online adapter so I can play other people. That would probably make the game last longer for me. There are also three difficulty levels so after I clear through, I'll try it on the hardest setting and see how that comes out. Galactic Conquest does have four locked scenarios, which I will admit, with dinner being ready I didn't check if I unlocked any of them from clearing the CIS scenario, but I'll let you know when I go back to play it again.

Got both my widescreen and my xbox battlefront today..

battlefront..ROOOOOOOOOCKS

however

the star wars movies.. *sigh*

The ONLY acceptable explination for the change at the end of jedi..as assumed by a nerd friend of mine..

The reason why there is a younger anakin in the end of jedi is as follows:

When a jedi becomes a ghost..he takes the form of what he was when he was at his/her strongest point..on the GOOD SIDE.....

how far that flies..is up to you..i still think its lame

Of course if you go by what Vader said to Obi-Wan during their battle: "Your powers are weak, old man."
Then that seems to contradict that theory. Obi-Wan would not have been at his most powerful at that point. He likely would have been at his strongest sometime around Episode III or within a few years after, not when he had the Alec Guiness look. So I would have to disagree with that one, just based on that point. I could be wrong.

No, Dan, you got it mixed up. When a jedi becomes a ghost, he takes the form of the actor he was when at his/her strongest point. So Lucas could never replace Muppet Yoda with Digital Yoda or Alec Obi-Wan with Ewan Obi-Wan. Now, Hayden Christensen over Sebastian Shaw? I'm not saying Hayden is somebody, but he's half-a-body nowadays so... Maybe for the Ultimate Edition 6-disc Set Extravaganza Lucas will switch him for Shaw again.
