Star Wars

CAPTAIN HOOK

It was released in the UK on Monday 20th, took some time out of work to purchase my copy. The big question now is , do I get the six episode set (with extra feature discs) as and when it becomes available ?

THat's what I've been thinking, Hooky. So far, I only have Ep. I. If the big documentary is scpecific to this 3-disc set, then I'll get it. But when the 6-disc set comes around, if it has the same extras, I'd rather wait for that one.

Of course if you go by what Vader said to Obi-Wan during their battle: "Your powers are weak, old man."
Then that seems to contradict that theory. Obi-Wan would not have been at his most powerful at that point. He likely would have been at his strongest sometime around Episode III or within a few years after, not when he had the Alec Guiness look. So I would have to disagree with that one, just based on that point. I could be wrong.
Actually it does not contridict at all, cause do you remember his response?
Obiwon said If you strike me down I shall become more powerful then you can possibly imagine! :D

Did Lucas delete this line in Ep. IV:

Kenobi "When I first met your father, he was already an accomplished pilot." (or something close to it)

I thought Ben told this to Luke right before he gave him his lightsaber, but I didn't hear it. Anyone else?

I will have to watch it again, I am not sure, but I do not know why he would delete it, it was still true. when Quigon meets Annakin he tells him that he is a pilot and he has his own pod racer.

Okay, here's my two cents on the DVD.

The menus are really really great as usual. It is the special edition version alright, but they've sort of made a special edition special edition.

Anyway, the sound and picture quality are excelent. Its just like watching it brand new. The updated CG jabba in a new hope is a HUGE improvement over the old CG one. It looks more real and less cartoony. Adding Ian McDiamard as the hologram emporer in Empire, is a huge improvement over the old lady. I also noticed that they added Tamerra Morrison's voice to Boba Fett. It was nice to see Naboo added to the celebrating planets in Return of the Jedi. I'm not too sure about Hayden being added as a ghost, but when my mom and I saw him there we both joked, "Yay! They killed Hayden Christiansen! There's his ghost!" The making of Star Wars documentary was very well done. I had no idea that there was so much stress in making "A new hope!" Surprising.

5 out of 5 stars. Good job Lucas!

Question for those who have the new DVD set:
Does it include the footage shot during the first film of Han Solo interacting with the human Jabba the Hutt? This was the footage that was used when Lucas put in the new scene in episode 4 of Harrison Ford interacting with the cartoon Hutt for the special editions.
I know I've seen this before in a "making of" special before and would love to see it again.

If you are talking about the scene from the special edition when he's talking to Jabba in the Falcon's hanger then the answer probably is yes. Lucas won't release the regular versions at all!!!!! :fork: :fork: They are locked in a vault that only he knows its location and the combo/how to get into it... :(

No, what I'm looking for is the actual footage that was shot when the movie was filmed, when Jabba was still a large scottish man in a fur coat who speaks english. He was played by Declan Mulholland.
Here's a picture to proove I'm not crazy: http://www.ne.jp/asahi/anakin/starwars/autograph_e/jabba_original02.htm

I KNOW that this was shown on TV in a Star Wars "making of" feature of some sort, but since there's about 70 "making of" films about Star Wars I don't know how I'm going to find it again.

Not to keep beating a dead horse, but I found a little something to add some more color to the discussion we were having. You know, about how Lucas has lost his frickin' mind because of the changes he's made to the Trilogy? Some are good, some are bad, some we can live with, some are damning sins. I had posted a link before, but these ones go deeper into it, comparing scenes that were changed, but also pointing out which one were introduced from the Special Editions on and even detecting sound changes. I kid you not, check out for yourselves.

A New Hope

Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

Perhaps the greatest link I've ever seen on this site! Thanks.
