RIP SWW

I wish they did the Hyperspace Hoopla this year since it was the last SWW apparently. Try to watch this video and not have a great time.

Chewie dancing to Hey Ya is the best thing ever

I loved absolutely everything about the Hoopla. Kathleen Kennedy is great in so many ways, but I think she's being a little overly-protective by putting an end tot he Hoopla and not allowing Disney characters to be dressed in SW garb anymore.

It's one thing to be protective of the brand; it's another to suck all of the fun out of it.

As long as people buy SW stuff Disney is happy, That the fans have fun is down somehere around what are the choices for TP in the parks.

While I understand why people are upset that this -upcoming- year's SWW is cancelled because I know people have already planned their trips, I completely get why SWW are going away. Disney has been saying for a while now that their ultimate (and obvious) goal is constant SW representation in the parks. Once that is achieved, I'm sure some kind of SW event will happen, but I don't think it will ever be what SWW was because most of that need will already be met on a daily basis.

Also, I'm not sure Studios could handle 2016's SWW with all the construction and closures. It was over crowded and chaotic before things started closing, I can't imagine what it'll be like with even less places for all the people to go.

I would understand people being upset if they had planned a trip for SWW, IF dates had been announced, but since there were no dates, they were already taking their chances.

Let's not be too generous with Disney though. They kept the SWW page up, said to look for dates for Summer 2016, and didn't pull the page until someone mentioned in the DPB post's comments that the page was still up. The handling of the cancellation was hardly suave. Even still, what's done is done.

Exactly, which speaks to the probability that someone high on the food chain's bonus was on the line so it was cut to save 'cost' but not done well.

I think she may have been bent by 'Slave Leia' twerking at the end of the last HSH it was an AWESOME show and well the entertainment turned a little 'R' rated as midnight approached.

Sounds like she's taking a bit of an idea from seeing how JK Rowling protects her works...

I watch it and want to hurl. It's as bad as the Mickey the Rapper pieces. Mash-ups aren't always great - especially when they cross from funny hint into just trashing the source. Hoopla is one of the reasons I'm glad they killed the event.
Who knew dancing Star Wars characters could make someone so upset

And however rigorous your standards are, Disney's are even higher for their character performers.

Again....not discounting the good work the legion does but Disney is not Lucas. Seems to be a lot of shooting the messenger on this, but time will tell. We've seen Disney boil the frog before, they've perfected it to an art.

You are correct that Disney is not Lucas (even though Disney bought LFL back in 2012 for more than $4 BILLION). Their standards are high for the performers but in my honest opinion, they need to look at the Star Wars costumes they do and make sure they do them right. We trim our armor or tailor our costumes to fit like a glove (not too tight, loose, etc). That doesn't seem to be the case with Disney. I do understand why they're doing it but they should be willing to spend the money to make the costumes look that much more authentic.
It's not uncommon for members of the 501st to sell their costumes/armor to other people to either move on to another new costume or because they need the money. One of the FIRST things the seller will say (other than the cost) is their height, weight, etc. This reduces the risk of the potential of the buyer losing a lot of money because the armor/costume doesn't fit him/her.
I'll put it this way: If I was to become a Disney Cast Member, the first thing I would do is INSIST on using my own Stormtrooper armor. I would be a LOT more comfortable wearing something of my own and not have to worry about whether or not it fit me correctly.
When we do our events, we take our time and make sure that we are dialed in nearly perfect before we ever step foot out into the general public.
