Star Wars themed land announced for Disneyland

Why is it hypocritical? Because he said Disney is in the entertainment category of his life and there are more important things in life, but he comes here to discuss Disneyland? Do you not think that's possible?

Thanks. :) I even made the point that my free time and income goes towards this company, I hardly think it is hypocritical for me to enjoy being on a message board to discuss it. But to be sickened and disgusted by it? Jeesh. If something in your life evokes such strong negative emotions, you really need to have a heart to heart with yourself as to whether or not your fandom of it is worth those feelings. Disneyland is a strong point of positivity in my life. The day it starts to cause anything close to resembling those types of feelings is the day I will give it up.

Sorry if that comes across as harsh and abrasive, but I'm among the people who would prefer to have a mature conversation about this place -- even if it is delving into pros and cons of what works and what doesn't. It is entirely possible to have such a conversation without being overly dramatic about it and coming across as personally wronged.

I already explained why it was hypocritical. How is one going to judge someone for feeling passionate about Disneyland when they spend time on a fan forum discussing Disneyland every single day? That's like being a fan of the Rolling Stones and partaking in discussion on a fan site, but then looking down on people for camping out for Rolling Stones concert tickets.

Again, if you don't that hypocritical, that's fine, but I do.

I know how to solve this issue. Disney needs to rebuild Disneyland as it was in 1955 and turn DCA back into a parking lot. That'd just mean Tomorrowland would eternally be mounds of dirt and the Matterhorn wouldn't exist, but it's better than all the movies invading the park!

;)

Sorry, but you have lousy analogies. It's more akin to spending time on a message board for a band and being frustrated and confused by the fans who spend their time calling them sellouts and being disgusted and sickened by their new music.

There really aren't enough likes available to give this comment.

Okay, I'm back from doing Haunted Mansion 20 times in a row. Anyway, Star Trek > Star Wars.

No need to apologize, my analogy works just fine.

So the fudge what if some of us express disappointment with what they're doing to Disneyland? This forum is reserved for discussion about Disneyland. Why is it a big deal to you if some of us express disappointment by saying we're "sickened" or "disgusted" by something? Since this is a fan forum, everything has to be positive?

Guess what, I can bet some of us are frustrated with you and your rude comments. I can speak for myself when i say that. I've ignored it for a while and i tried to not say anything, but I'm sick of it. We can't come here and express how we feel without you and others jumping in and saying things like "there are more important things in life." I've never had a problem with you until now. It's weird, I'm sure I've said similar things before in the past, but it's only now that you want to come out and make these comments.

To me, personally, this how Disney boards tend to feel.

Me: I love this movie!

Someone else: I hate it. It's dumb.

Me: I'm so excited for this new ride!

Someone else: Disney is evil for building it and people who lap this stuff up are dumb and when people say they love it, I get so angry I could scream, or puke, or hit something, or all three.

This. Exactly this.

My thing is people constantly calling me out for negativity and asking why I even bother going to Disney. I can assure you it isn't for Marvel comic books, Frozen, Star Wars BB-8 sippy cups and ridiculous ugly C-3PO hats no one should ever wear, Luigi's spinning ride or tacky overlays of classic attractions. Some of us have different tastes and, in my opinion, a lot of Disney's modern additions/alterations to the parks are quite...tasteless.

Don't dare express an opinion that doesn't follow the herd, or express a deep appreciation for the park here. Someone is bound to follow up with a snarky and rude comment that has nothing to do with the topic. Have an opinion that isn't popular or sounds too negative? You'll be looked down and questioned why you not only bother with the parks, but bother with the forums. Ludicrous.

Everyone needs to respect the opinions of others, like we USED TO DO.

Who said Disney is evil? You mentioned this in 2 threads now. I also don't remember anyone ever calling you or anyone else dumb for liking Star Wars land or anything else and if they did, they are wrong. Believing Disney made a dumb decision is not calling you dumb for liking the decision.

Well, I'm pretentious toward Star Wars and Marvel fans. Have you seen these people in the parks? I'm embarrassed for them.

But that's not directed toward anyone here, I'm just generalizing and being my usual pretentious self.

I was referring to Endor and one or two others who do make disparaging remarks towards people who might enjoy Star Wars/Marvel in the parks. But you know, apparently everyone else around here respects the opinions of others, and calling people out on their BS is only okay on one side.

You forgot about the grammar, spelling and redundant thread police that will destroy your thread because you didn't capitalize the word Mickey or notice another thread from three years ago on the same topic.

The same could be said of many, many Disney fans. The more overly involved fans, of pretty much any fanbase, tend to come off a bit obsessive and embarrassing at times. I'm sure we've all seen/met them...and I'm confident there are more than a few on WDW magic or any (insert your favorite movie, band or hobby) message board. The reality is that what is embarrassing to one fan is normal to another. For example, I think the Disneyland Social Clubs are over the top weird, but they probably feel its very normal. That's ok, just not my thing.

I was genuinely curious Constance ;) I haven't read anyone say Disney is evil and wanted to know. I'm not on anyone's side. Just because I agree with someone says on one issue doesn't mean I always agree with them. In fact I have some pretty unique takes on Disney and theme parks a as a whole, but I tend to not express it near as much anymore, because the name calling and insults has gotten out of control. The lack of respect and civility when talking about of all things a theme park, is sad.

I don't know what Endor said that was so disparaging, but you do realize 75% of what he says is sarcastic right? It was possibly a comedic attempt that didn't hit.
