Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

So to talk about the whole can easily be redressed to OT, I agree it could however there are some issues:

1. The ride must occur earlier the Empire Strikes Back, Vader was focused on finding Luke who was not really with the rebels at that time (he was on Degoba with Yoda) thus he had no reason to harass rebel recruits

2. Which character is going to replace Finn? Luke was a bit of a celebrity and the ace leader of the Rouge Squadron he could easily replace Poe in the ride but having him infiltrating a ship with Vader on it makes no sense, not to mention Vader has the ability to sense Luke. Nor does it make sense for Han who after Episode 4 is still very self centered and would never put his life needlessly in harms way. You’re stuck using a ride original character as your main character helping you. Everyone else has an easy story equivalent except Hux (Poe/Luke, Ren/Vader, BB-8/R2 with or without 3PO, Ray/Leia or Mon Marthma) or don’t need to change (Mon Calamari, Nein-Nub.). Thankfully Hux is easily replaced by a random Empirial Admiral .

3. The only other things (other then swiping FO stuff for Empire stuff) that would need to change would be the name of the planet the base is on (Let’s make it Hoth) and how you get away from Vader, for while it is totally in character for Ren to end up like a putz under a pile of rocks, Vader is another story. You could have a bunch of debris fall from the ceiling and have Vader stop it in mid air using the force but at the expense of releasing your ship. Then just before you get ejected you could get a Vader Noooo! and have the pod shake with cracks appearing on your windshield.

I still think this would be a wash as I don’t think having a random spy escorting you is fully countered by having Vader. There is however one time period where you could match everyone except the x-wing leader: Just before Rouge One (Finn/Cassien, BB-8/K2SO, Ren/Vader, Hux/Tarkin, Rey/Bail) I think this time period would improve on the ride, but unfortunately the characters are too obscure.

So basically, I doubt this ride ever gets reskinned to an OT time period, too many problems.
Star Tours is a complete chronological mess, if they really decided to retheme it to OT they likely wouldn’t give a f*** about whether a certain character’s chronological development matches whether it would make sense for him to be in the Star Destroyer or not.

The mere idea of them taking Batuu out of its timeline and returning it to OT suggests that they’re already starting at a point of disregard for canon or timelines.

One other random thought, thanks to preshow 2, I believe Rise is the first Disney ride anywhere where we witness (2) deaths in real time (Poe’s two wing men, Red 2 and Blue 1 I believe)
Uh, who do you think is flying the TIE fighters you shoot down in Star Tours and MFSR? That's Empire/First Order pilot body count piling up on those attractions. And on MFSR, if you are a gunner, you actually kill them. That may be a Disney attraction first (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Haha yeah right which canon ? Which timeline... after all we're talking about a company which also deals with the multiverse. It'll be whatever they want it to be, not Star OCD Wars.

Nobody would care, just like nobody cares that Gaston (Isn’t he dead?!) and Beast (Hasn’t he turned back into the prince?!) are walking around Fantasyland having a good time.

People want to see and interact with the characters they love and that’s why creating a needlessly restrictive time/place constraint on a theme park land was idiotic. Good news though, in a few years, when DL Ops has taken full control you’ll see Vader, Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Mandalorian, etc. roaming around and fans will love it and forget this Bright Suns nonsense ever existed.

Maybe not your expectations anyway. I always thought ROTR was going to be the stand out attraction there, with MFSR being it's 'little brother' so to speak. As for the milk guess what, I don't like butter beer, can't stand the stuff to be honest. The idea of using that to bash Universal with though is nonsensical, I just don't buy it and drink something else instead rather than moan about it.

I'll even accept that MFSR isn't rated anywhere near as highly as ROTR is, I believe that even the imagineers that designed it knew that to be the case themselves. The original idea was the land would open with both attractions working and that not being the case was probably a mistake by the higher ups. So instead of the world being introduced to Galaxy's Edge by a stellar attraction and a fun secondary attraction, the secondary attraction had to hold up the reputation of the new land pretty much by itself and that was a tough ask. People were well within their rights to give their honest assessments of what they thought, after all they could only really comment on what they saw and was presented to them. This did also throw open a window of opportunity for a minority of people to try to have a go at Disney over and over and over again.

Most were just realistic and said they thought MFSR was fun, but not a headliner. A lot were concerned that if ROTR wasn't superb, that the whole land might be deemed a failure. All were valid opinions but in and among those posters with those thoughts were a small minority who couldn't hide their happiness that GE wasn't getting the praise they thought it would. That's not to say most who said negative things were in this category, but a few were. They were quite easy to spot really, trying to hide their 'agenda' with the success of a group of chimpanzees trying to build a nuclear reactor with a box of Cheerios and a tube of glue.

Then when ROTR opened you could almost collectively hear the sound of their little hearts breaking. The world was seeing what they should have seen when GE opened (minus a few cut backed ideas). Suddenly people were talking about what an incredible attraction they had and that allowed many to appreciate MFSR a little more and the land as a whole. And as for those few who appeared obsessive in celebrating the 'failure' of GE on a daily basis, they seem to have quietly moved on but they stick out like a sore thumb. Anyone can think and say whatever they want about anything as far as I'm concerned, this certainly isn't about censoring people's opinions. However it is quite amusing how the few have gone so quiet after being so loud :D

The thing is that the condition of GE will be ever changing and if they keep at it they can make it better and learn from their mistakes.

All the naysayers should remember that failure is okay and probable when you’re really pushing the limits. Make fun of Rise if you want for breaking down but they’ll get it right eventually and the troubleshooting just comes from trying to make such a great attraction.

Whenever I read quotes about failure and success with Walt himself I always think about how he wasn’t afraid to fail and stuck with a thing long enough for it to succeed.

The fact that RotR kind of makes up for a land with flawed design choices speaks volumes to the quality of RotR but says nothing about the flawed design choices of the rest of the land.

Some people hate butter beer. Someone people hate blue milk. Some people love both. Let’s stop speaking in absolutes.

While that is absolutely true, I think the butter beer has been significantly more popular than the blue milk. So from Disney’s perspective I wonder if it’s a success.

I think anyone, including Disney, can realize that nothing will beat the name recognition of butterbeer.

I’d assume the thought was more “food and beverage for Star Wars, what the heck do we do?”

I imagine they could just do an in-universe “New Republic Day” event to get the OT in there. Pretend Batuu is celebrating the victory of the Rebel Alliance. You can have Batuu residents dress up as OT characters for meets same as CMs dress as Disney characters in real life. Change the Falcon ride to visit classic planets like Bespin and Tatoinne. Have the FO play along by using the old Stormtrooper costumes, angry that everyone else is celebrating the rebels. Rise wouldn’t need to change at all, because you’re still in the ST, the citizens are just celebrating the OT era.

It could be like an Epcot festival or Xmas where it runs for 2-4 months before reverting back.

I don’t feel any need or desire for this, my least favorite things about the ST is it’s copying of the OT aesthetically, but I’d rather this than lose Batuu as it was intended.

Coke is significantly more popular than Pepsi but that doesn’t mean Pepsi is not successful...and that blue milk costs a whole lot more than a Pepsi ;)

I do think that butter beer is just a better concept vs poor execution on the blue milk. Butterbeer is much more prominent in the Harry Potter series and is celebrated by the characters as a great treat vs blue milk which really only has a cameo in one film and nobody really celebrated its “greatness”.

Oh, there’s plenty who care and see a potential need. Not just fans.

But I’m just the messenger.
If this happened would it be pushed for both parks or would it be yet another situation where Disneyland is favored? Also, how blue sky is this? I’d have to imagine the Paris version could possibly just open this way too since it’s already pretty far off.

Question for the gurus

I know the entire party needs to be scanned in to get a BG. In the scenario where half my family comes super early, and the second half comes 45 min later (both early enough in time get a BG) can I book 2 BGs for both groups of my family on the app if I have all the tickets? (And no, unlikely they’ll arrive at the same time and we don’t expect to ride together)
