Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Not only is a full motion simulator - but a pretty good execution one. Feels a lot better than smugglers run actually. Granted having the ability to do true vertical movement probably helps.
Plus MFSR is limited by having guests control it.

I get lefous brew everytime I go to Disneyland and while I haven't had the blue milk yet I love the green milk. Cant wait to have them both again in August. People can have differing opinions. All I've seen from certain posters is negativity no matter what. Must be a sad existence.

This is probably covered in the other thread dedicated to the show, but on the final episode of The Imagineering Story, they reveal how a lot of RotR is done. Great behind the scenes footage!
Scott Trowbridge also revealed that MFSR wasn’t working out months before opening.

Say what you want about MFSR, but there’s no denying it‘s a very innovative attraction. Perhaps too innovative for its own good.

I love Butterbeer and I love Blue Milk. Sucks because I'm starting to crave it when I go to Hollywood Studios now, just like I crave Butterbeer when I go to IOA.

Just add it to my long crave list of things I need to spend money on every trip..

I also enjoyed the blue milk, i do not find it bad like some. Of course i love coconut and rice water just how i like cilantro and celery while others hate it.

And remember - the point of the milk stand is that we get to try the milk.
That we get to experience something we have wondered about.
It isn't really whether we like it or not.
Matter of fact, if it was really delicious it would lose a level of authenticity.

The final episode of the Inagineering Story on Disney+ has a pretty cool segment on RotR (and Galaxy's Edge in general)... FYI, LOTS of spoilers if you haven't ridden it yet and want to keep the surprise...

In ANH Luke wasn't drinking it because it was delicious - he was drinking it because it was the only thing on the table as he complained about how much he hates everything about his life... safe to say we weren't supposed to think he was enjoying a butterbeer.

Flash forward to theme park planning, Disney obviously wants their own BB success. Only problem is that SW really doesn't have a signature beverage that everyone is always drinking (heck even Star Trek had raktacino and Romulan Ale). The closest thing to a recognizable beverage from the movies is that blue stuff Luke drank. And obviously they're not going to craft a recipe so immersive that it tastes like whatever luke warm (pun) prop liquid Mark was served, so they tried to make something tasty, alien, and in some way "milk-based" as opposed to just calling a blue Icee "Star Wars Blue Milk".

Sounds like they had the right ideas, just didn't nail the recipe.

So to talk about the whole can easily be redressed to OT, I agree it could however there are some issues:

1. The ride must occur earlier the Empire Strikes Back, Vader was focused on finding Luke who was not really with the rebels at that time (he was on Degoba with Yoda) thus he had no reason to harass rebel recruits

2. Which character is going to replace Finn? Luke was a bit of a celebrity and the ace leader of the Rouge Squadron he could easily replace Poe in the ride but having him infiltrating a ship with Vader on it makes no sense, not to mention Vader has the ability to sense Luke. Nor does it make sense for Han who after Episode 4 is still very self centered and would never put his life needlessly in harms way. You’re stuck using a ride original character as your main character helping you. Everyone else has an easy story equivalent except Hux (Poe/Luke, Ren/Vader, BB-8/R2 with or without 3PO, Ray/Leia or Mon Marthma) or don’t need to change (Mon Calamari, Nein-Nub.). Thankfully Hux is easily replaced by a random Empirial Admiral .

3. The only other things (other then swiping FO stuff for Empire stuff) that would need to change would be the name of the planet the base is on (Let’s make it Hoth) and how you get away from Vader, for while it is totally in character for Ren to end up like a putz under a pile of rocks, Vader is another story. You could have a bunch of debris fall from the ceiling and have Vader stop it in mid air using the force but at the expense of releasing your ship. Then just before you get ejected you could get a Vader Noooo! and have the pod shake with cracks appearing on your windshield.

I still think this would be a wash as I don’t think having a random spy escorting you is fully countered by having Vader. There is however one time period where you could match everyone except the x-wing leader: Just before Rouge One (Finn/Cassien, BB-8/K2SO, Ren/Vader, Hux/Tarkin, Rey/Bail) I think this time period would improve on the ride, but unfortunately the characters are too obscure.

So basically, I doubt this ride ever gets reskinned to an OT time period, too many problems.
