Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Slight correction on this one - the print was locked a week or so ago.

I'm not sure that's correct. I've been informed it is being changed based on some "dyad" concept (I have no idea what it means) not screening well with the top Disney execs. I'm assuming that's Iger, but I think Favreau and Feige were brought in to consult. I know Iger has made it his mission to fix Star Wars before he leaves, even to the point that he watched ever Mandalorian episode prior to release, made actual notes, and had things changed at his direction. It's very far outside of the norm, but he has been in crisis management mode with Lucasfilm for about a year.

Doesn’t sound good for K. Kennedy.

Decided to ask my friend who is in guest relations what they have heard on RotR.

The only thing they said is because their partner works at DHS, the partner has gotten to ride it. CMs have been riding for a few weeks. Partner said it was the best ride they’ve been on, better then Hagrids and they are both obsessed with Hagrids and loved that ride.

3. Putting everything into the Disney Trilogy has Iger worried; SW9 just finished filming with Iger himself having reordered many reshoots to try to bridge the divide in the fans. Abrams won't have the final cut finished for a few more days. If SW9 is poorly received, it could damage the ride's reception despite its incredible tech and execution.
From the way it sounds the attraction will be impressive regardless of the movie it is based on. Splash Mountain is still popular even though it is based on a problematic movie. If Rise of Skywalker flops but Rise of Resistance is a great ride, I don’t see that having much impact on the ride’s popularity. Another example, Tron Legacy is quite mediocre while the coaster is amazing (Its a coaster, they are always popular)

Temporarily off topic...

I must have missed something but what does Bob Iger have to do with Movie Making?.
Is this a new thing to have a park exec, step in and have control of a movie? I thought that was JJ's job. Sounds like Bob has too much free time and is getting his hands into everything.

No spoilers here but I actually liked the “dyad” concept. Assuming what I know is true.

We should probably get back on topic though...we are getting awfully close to the resistance rising from the ashes.

For all intents and purposes, what film the ride is drawn from will have very little influence on the ride itself.

Replacing a Kylo animatronic with a Darth Vader one is does not change much at all. That is one of the complaints of the new trilogy, it simply tries to piggyback off the old films.

The only difference it will have is for public perception. The Disney Star Wars films have all had their fair share of controversy which has definitely had their effect on the IP. However, with the recent addition of the Mandalorian, the general public's attitude towards Star Wars has improved. If Rise of the Resistance knocks everyone's socks off and goes viral on YouTube it can further the precedent that Star Wars under Disney is on the right track.

Depending on how Episode 9 is received, it will either be a blessing or a curse. Could revert the progress of Mandalorian and possibly the ride to redefining Disney in a positive light under Disney, or could further it.

Hopefully, it is the ladder.

My current attitude towards Star Wars as a whole is at its all-time high since before Episode 7 was released. This is an exciting time for Star Wars fans and Theme Park enthusiasts alike.

Also, pretty sure you accidentally called Rise a coaster.

He is the CEO of the entire company, not just parks.

If he believes something will hurt the company and in turn his reputation he is able to make adjustments.

That's why they pay him the big bucks!

What? I think you are confusing Bob Chapek, head of consumer products and parks with Bob Iger, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, who oversees all divisions - including Parks, TV, ABC, film, etc.

Traditionally, even going back to Walt, the CEO of TWDC has always been hyper focused on the Studio division more than any other as it's such a flagship for the company and industry as a whole.

Yes, and this is the man who bought Pixar, Muppets, Marvel, and LucasFilm. They’re his babies, although Muppets is seemingly a lost cause...
