Reading Martin's comment - "It should open in December" - I'm not holding my breath that RotR will open on December 5.
They don't judge success on 10 hour waits.10 hour wait because it's broken down more than half the time?
It should open in December as things stand.
He knows he will get attacked if something happens like Test Track as though it is personally his fault. He doesn’t need any more stress. He already gave up sleeves until Brexit is resolved. Who could’ve known three years would go by with no end in sight?! Looks like it’ll be another chilly, damp winter in Great Britain.“As things stand” doing a lot of heavy lifting in this sentence
I’m still confused as to the timeline of this ride. Obviously we’ll know more once TROS is released but if Kylo is “redeemed” (as per rumor), then that kinda changes the story elements of the land, right?
If I had to venture a wild guess, it takes place right before TROS and/or during it and fleshes out a part the movie didn’t need to focus on YET ties into the ending by...
No one answered your question I think, but yes it takes place just before the next movie.

When I visited at DLR I felt like the land was intended almost like a sort of prequel to RoS; kind of like, "we're going to make you feel like how the average citizen in a galaxy far, far away feels during the opening crawl for Ep9." I'm not saying I'm correct, I have nothing to base it on, I just had that thought while visiting and couldn't shake it. It certainly would be easy enough to spin it that way for now, and then turn around and "relaunch" with new content (roaming droids/aliens) once Ep9 has been in theaters. This is why I don’t get the slavish devotion to setting the land at a discreet point in the chronology*. Why settle on an arbitrary time point that would presumably be outdated by the time the movie comes out?
* I feel like this was a design flaw of sorts. It’s overly limiting, and doesn’t allow for them to cherry pick popular characters or settings because it doesn’t fit their arbitrary time and date.

Thank God they didn't build a "Hunger Games Land" and build a District 12 before the movies!
The poverty, misery, and bleak greyness are so detailed and immersive!
I’m still half wondering once RisE of Skywalker is released if they will add a few touches to make the attraction not only a prequel to the film but continue through the story and tie it together with the ending of the movie.
Seems fairly easy to do, I would think. Feels like the attraction could almost be a side story of something they didn’t show in the film.
Otherwise won’t it feel bizarre to think, “here we are in SWGE frozen in a moment of time but we know how this ends?” That’s once of the reasons I didn’t want this based on the OT.
It's very much a catch 22 situation. No matter where you set the land it will always have that question. Set it in the Prequels and its a "well why does this matter, we know the Republic falls" situation. Set it in the OT and its a "Why does this matter, we know the Empire falls" and this one will be a "Why does this matter, the First Order will fall" situation.
Universal has a similar situation with Potter. Gringotts takes place at a very specific moment in the films, but manages to side step that by relegating the film events to the background for most of the ride. Forbidden Journey avoids this to an extent but still feature characters and creatures that die in specific points of the series, meaning the ride itself takes place before then.
Its a hard balance to strike when it comes to the "ride the movies" attractions. IMO the main focus should just be to tell a coherent story and entertain/thrill us.

Not likely. The Gringotts ride features Voldemort even though he’s gone by the end of the series.
Star Tours has Vader, but he’s eventually redeemed and killed off.
Rise should exist as an adventure experience that succeeds based on those merits alone. All the timeline plotting is so tedious for a theme park attraction.
The best we can hope for is shirtless Kylo Ren.We also have to realize that an elaborate theme park ride that makes actual points in the films is beyond unlikely.
A theme park attraction takes years to be developed, especially one as elaborate ROTR.
Movies take years to produce. They are also often heavily altered during and post-production
Episode 7-9 have had two separate directors, and since it went JJ to Rian to JJ again means that over 7-9 there were 3 different visions.
Making a theme park attraction which contains significant details for a movie would be extraordinarily difficult.
I don't see how Rise won't open December 5th. They feel confident enough to have announced that date months ago. Think of all the people that have booked trips just for it. They wouldn't have said a date if they knew it wouldn't be ready.
Do you guys remember the Frozen Ever After situation? We heard less about Frozen than we have Runaway Railway but it opened on time even though it was a nightmare for a while with the computers not communicating with each other causing tons of breakdowns every day. Once they got that figured out it usually never breaks down now.
My guess is Rise will have a similar situation to Frozen. It probably break down a lot at the beginning but they're going to open it on the 5th because they already said that date and know how much relies on it.
And look at how much more positively Falcon has been received then Hagrid’s!!!Having a headliner which is expected to draw enormous crowds constantly break down at launch is never an ideal scenario. See Hagrids.
Millennium Falcon, on the other hand, has had a stellar uptime.
