Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

I don’t think it would cost billions to overlay one ride but you do you I guess.

I’m going with @marni1971 on this. I’ve been here for almost 6 (!) years now and over that time he’s been proven to be trustworthy again and again.
I’m sure he’s correct about higher level discussions. They were very concerned over the initial response to the land. Now it seems very popular with the new ride but we will see how it looks after 6 months and a year. I understand the immediate focus will be the restaurant and MFSR missions. While they are doing that, it would be a logical time to make any reasonably easy fixes, which could range from adding music and changing food right up to complete layovers. Obviously the physical rides and buildings would stay. These would all be relatively cheap “fixes”. We will see what they deem necessary. I feel the restaurant will get green lit rather quickly.

I think the response that will trigger a decision one way or another will be the response to Rise of Skywalker. If it’s another divisive film I see them going ahead with this OT overlay idea. I’m theorizing that’s the impetus for this idea as even a possibility in the first place. The situation the ST has been in since the end of 2017. If it’s a hit movie then this idea could very well be scrapped like many, many others at WDI.

No pressure, JJ...

Them changing things to be set in the OT would seriously bum me out. It made all the sense in the world to set it when they did, and the OT is everywhere anyways (BOTH side stories AND the first live-action show are set closer to that timeframe and involve that aesthetic already).

Would it kill them to just stick to their guns? Star Wars is cyclical. Everyone hated the PT and then when it got ignored by Disney everyone was clamouring for more from it. The same thing will happen to the ST in 5-10 years.

I like the OT too but the worst part of the ST was all the aesthetic pandering to it already.

That’s the worst part to you? I mean I don’t want to start this debate but, really?

It wouldn’t take nearly a year.

;)

It wouldn’t take a year to:

(1) replace Hondo
(2) replace BB-8
(3) replace Kylo, Finn
(4) put a new dish on the Falcon
(5) replace the X wing with OT X wing
(6) replace Poe X wing
(7) replace Sith fighter with TIE fighter
(8) replace all the first order troopers with storm troopers (they are different and fans notice)
(9) create new mission for MSFR
(10) create new video for ROTR escape and escape pod scenarios?

Batuu cannot be made OT without extreme effort if it is to be remotely acceptable to the fan base. The list above is just what I came up with in 30 seconds.

Martin I’m sorry if anyone has seriously discussed it they have they asked Doug Chiang or anyone from Lucasfilm? This strikes me as someone talking nonsense.

The rumor is just for Rise of the Resistance.

Who said they would care if it’s acceptable to the Star Wars fan base? I don’t expect to see anything change any time soon, but if it does it won’t be because of SW fans, it will be because Disney theme park fans prefer it.

I know that’s the rumor but doesn’t it make a heck of a lot more sense to sprinkle in extra characters in other parts of the land that are less “successful” in execution right now. Haven’t been on it but the ride sounds awesome. It’s not the issue...if there even is an issue.

Well, yeah, it would. But until we hear about that it’s really just Rise now as far as we know that’s being considered for a timeline change. I wouldn’t be surprised if more walk around characters came with it though.

Makes sense. Once you break the timeline for 1 ride then the floodgates open for other areas. I still think they should have considered an upgraded Jedi Training Academy and a sit down restaurant in the land so maybe that comes in some 2nd phase and includes other characters.

Probably. I really wonder what they could do for sit down table service.

Ride is amazing but my only nitpick complaint is I wish the stormtroopers had a little more animation. They move but it's so subtle that it seemed pointless to put so many in that area with such minimal movements. It would have been awesome to have some point their blasters at you in a way that feels like they're following the queue and aiming at you. I feel like it would have been better just to put a life size TIE fighter in its place.

I'd much, much rather they add more kinetic elements to the land than retheme a ride that is widely agreed to be a huge success.

This. Talk about throwing good money after bad. If they want to change something in the land, why not actually incorporate the entertainment the land was designed for and needs and/or add missions to MFSR rather than touching the ride that is being universally praised. So silly.

If they want to incorporate OT characters, I'm down with it, but invest the money properly and build another attraction that fits them into the story of the land (Jedi or Sith Temple or Force strong area or whatever that allows there to be Force Ghosts or Dark side cave type images, etc). Or build a second land.

Also, why the heck did they not use C-3P0 or R2-D2 in the land (yes, I know the one item in the shop). That seems like a no brainer.

So, Gary Sinise rode RotR today...but HE didn’t have to show up at 5:15 for a Boarding Group! Not cool. So to the Smith family from Minnesota that was the first family to arrive at DHS today and NOT receive a BG, you have Lieutenant Dan to thank, dontcha know? Better luck tomorrow although I understand Pat Sajak wants to ride, so...

I'm 80% sure they repurposed the Gary Sinise animatronic from Mission: SPACE and made him a stormtrooper.
