But that didn't open until months after New Orleans Square itself did. It originally opened with just shops and a fast food place.
Which is basically what it was before, just a million times more elaborate. I was talking about how HM opened in 69 whilst Pirates opened in 67. It didn’t matter that it only had one ride since it was so good.

Watched the POV. Looks like fun for sure. I'd be lying if I said I was blown away though...but I'm sure the queue and preshow greatly adds to the overall experience, obviously a video is just a video. Hopefully someday we will see something in Florida on the scale and actual ride length of Pirates Shanghai...I was hoping this would be it but based on the video to me, it's not.
I have never been on Shanghai Pirates so I have to base my opinions off of the various videos i've seen but imo, this blows it out of the water (no pun intended).

Yeah I'm only going by video of Pirates as well, never been on it. Honest opinion just based on videos, that's all. That said, it is great to see a new attraction of this scale at WDW.

Hate to be that guy but does anyone else feel like it’s kind of missing a “climax” moment?

I get that the escape pod is the “thrill” climax but I feel like it’s kind of missing a lot of the big “oh ****” moments that had been written about so much. What happened to Kylo running at you? It just looks like a screen of Kylo walking towards you until a door closes. It just feels like it’s a missing a big impressive finale scene like a lot of other E-tickets (the boulder in IJA, the end of Mystic Manor etc.)

I think the most impressive thing about this is the queue/pre-show. Definitely going to go down in history as one of the great Disney queues.

strongly disagree. putting riders in an “escape pod” that simulates a drop and then crash-landing back on the planet you started on is some grade-a material for an impressive finale/climax. also kylo ren running around you was just from a leak, it’d be out of character anyway

It's definitely quite the climax, yet it doesn't translate well onto the camera. This is a ride that you NEED to ride in person to judge and not base it on the POV video.

Probably not many else would agree with you I'd guess going off reactions, but each to their own.

Don’t forget that the original NOS had a collection of very unique shops without Disney IP merch, more akin to Epcot’s World Showcase than SWGE. The land is also situated on the Rivers of America and benefits from the area’s kinetics. Even with one ride, and a few years without HM, NOS was greater than the sum of its parts.

Having just watched the Imagineering Story and being reminded of the catastrophic opening of Disneyland, I can only conclude that rushed, artificial deadlines are a true Disney tradition.
—Because today’s execs don’t have a significant history with the company and haven’t paid attention to the lessons of 1955 vs. today. ;)

Any predictions on how long the wait time will be tomorrow?

Is anyone else going tomorrow and what time are you planning to be there?

Also, is there any chance that they might open it up for guests tonight after the opening ceremony? I am thinking of going to see if I can spot the drones. I wonder if they'll shut down all of Galaxy's Edge for the opening ceremony, or if it'll be possible to watch it from Black Spire Outpost.

I was in a small group of people coming off of Toy Story Mania when they suddenly opened up TSL the evening before opening. I wonder if they will do the same tonight.
