Actual Magic? What?

Magic Circle is a term used in the study of immersive performance, gameplay and non-traditional spaces employing performance.

It literally means the space where traditional rules are abandoned and replaced with artificial ones at service to the work. And inside that circle, contradictions like Disneyland nametags just don’t work with the artificial rules set.

Don't get all sophomore performance art analysis on me. Disney promise of the happiest or the most magical place on earth is no guarantee of the most happiness or actual magic we'll ever experience. You know how to decode marketing hype and know full well that "immersive" for a theme park doesn't mean CMs won't be wearing name tags.

But it is not dead. The horse is still alive and well since Disney is still doing it so the topic is very relevant. And I understand marketing. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between marketing and then forcing your employees to be immersive that goes past marketing "excuse me where is the restroom" - guest "restroom? refreshers are by the cantina." - cast member

For you.

And you've said so.

Over and over again.

In many threads.

We get it.

You don't like it.

We heard.

OK.

To be fair its Disney's fault for trying to set that immersion when all they needed to build was a land that celebrated all of star wars. Then I would have no problem with the Batuu setting. I mean look at what they are doing with the hotel for crying out loud! Instead of a Star Wars themed hotel they want you to spend over 3 grand so you can play make believe with some Disney castmember cosplayers.

Disney has plenty of hotels and are building more. The Start Wars hotel is not my cup of tea, but I have to give them credit for trying something innovative.

Yeah, especially since the First Order designs are much more forgiving than traditional OT Stormtrooper armor.

Considering 501st outfits are fan made, one would think the scope and power of a Disney budget and infrastructure would have done better with them.

Especially since Disney does hire to body shape. Like I’d kill to be a Disney stormtrooper but I’m not tall enough for their casting. Even if I have hours of walking around in stormtrooper armor with the 501st.

Now I completely accept Disney forgoes accuracy for workability but those uniforms aren’t fitted right and hell, look like they were pulled out of a hamper.

I hate to say it, a ramp that steep doesn't seem ADA compliant, nor is it probably safe for the average tourist (no handrails.) Also, I think there's some head clearance issues- everyone has to duck into the Falcon.
Happy ONE YEAR anniversary! It's been TWELVE MONTHS since this special form of thought diarrhea infected our forums.
The ignore button has failed me. I still have to scroll through pages of responses that only repeat what was obvious back in 2018.

How about this.....if some of you want to debate the merits of theming and what makes immersion or how costumes look or about a hotel start a new thread. 99% of us are here to talk about Rise of the Resistance attraction as the thread title states.

any new news here at Disneyland on what the status is? Have they started the state Mandated safety stuff yet?
