Ridiculous! A ploy to keep people in the most boring park all day. Or can you leave and come back? How long do you have once your boarding group is called?

You can leave once you've entered/created your Boarding Group......you'll have 2 hours once your group is called

Based on what I read. Once you get a group you can leave. If your group is called then you get 2 hours to return.

I don’t know if it’s making a difference but I’m completely restarting my phone 10-15 mins before. Just make sure you take off the WiFi when it turns back on because mine automatically joins. I’m clearing all apps like you said.

On iPhone I’m watching the little clock icon app when it hits 6:59. Some kind soul on here pointed out that the seconds hand actually moves on it. I’m giving it about one or two seconds after it hits 7 and then going in. I’m also bringing the Disney app out of my theme park folder every morning. Less clicks.

So you completely close the app? Or just leve it open on the background? I haven't been on the ride since the new boarding group system was implemented. I want to try my luck this week.

I wonder? I know the 1st time we attempted to join a Boarding Group, we drove over and the Join Boarding Group@ tab didn’t turn red until we were in the Parking Lot. I assume that means our long range RFID had picked up at that point? If that is correct, MAYBE someone could tap in to the Park, go back out, and as long as they didn’t go far they’d be good? Maybe hang in the parking lot?

You simply need to be tapped in to the park. The app doesn’t look for a location, just that you have used a ticket to enter the park, just like the FP system. The Touring Plans team tested this out and I believe one of them was back near the Epcot resorts (Swan, Boardwalk etc) and managed to get a boarding group.

Someone MUST have a good reason to scan and leave vs staying/hanging around for 30-45 mins until app "opens"

Land status read CLOSED and both buttons were greyed out, like when you check on it prior to opening. Screen itself was normal.

to further what @nickys said above....the steps in order:

1) You and your party scan your band and enter Disney Hollywood Studios .... to be safe, be inside the Park before 7:30
2) Open app....you'll see this screen 1st
3) Click Find Out More

You see this screen next....click Join Boarding Group

By the way, at 7:53 this A.M. there are still back Groups available

Next screen....click on everyone in your party that you want in your Boarding Group. Your Boarding Group will be constructed from your Family and Friends list, so make sure you have added everyone to your Family and Friends!

You'll get this next:

Then you'll get this...and you've succeeded in joining/building your Boarding Group! Our group was created at 7:32 A.M. and wasn't called until 7:41 P.M.....you'll see more below

Finally you receive this, prompting you to head over to the ride....you'll notice our group wasn't called until 7:41 P.M., and we were given to 9:41 P.M. to make it over to the ride que (9:41 is 41 mins AFTER Park Closing)

Once you make over to the Que, you'll scan once where all the CM "Guards" are making sure no one gets in without a BG. This is a holding area just outside the ride; I assume this is for those people who have arrived and are waiting for the rest of their Boarding Group. Then you'll scan again as you enter the actual line....once you've gotten in line, the line moves very swiftly, almost so swift you'll slow down just to absorb the line que....it is pretty cool!

In light of the tweaks/changes/demand for RotR ride, I wanted to point out one item. Due to the fact you now must be tapped in the Park by Park Opening (currently 7:00 A.M.), not just arrive by 7:30ish, step 2 needs additional info.

In the pic below (step 2 in post above), you'll need to click on My Status as soon as Park opens....maybe even 10 secs or so before......

Just wanted to point out if you wait until "Join Boarding Group" turns Red, you'll end up with a very high Boarding Group. Again, this assumes you are in the Park at Park opening, and tapping the App immediately......

Until this past week, I wasn't aware the My Status button was the only one that need be Red, and had assumed the Join Boarding Group had to turn Red........

I learned Thursday the My Status is the only Button needed to create the Boarding Group

Normally when I’ve done this the MY STATUS is red before Join Boarding Group is. Today, both gray.

After multiple close out and reopens, Join Boarding Group was finally red, don’t even know what My Status was as I was in full on panic mode with people cheering and say sing their numbers while I had no access to even join. Then after 3 more start from fresh it popped by the time I found a cast member to help me

I think many are under the impression they have to wait for the Join Boarding Group to turn red........like I mentioned earlier, we didn't learn the My Status was the key until earlier this past week....

I have never heard this My Status “trick”, as anytime I’ve joined a boarding group (9x before today), never had an issue and JOIN was always red.

I’m local, so I bailed and was back home by 9:30. Too many effects not working, so in a weird way I’m glad I didn’t get a ride. Hoping for a FP as 134 starts backups and I got 131, so I have a sport in’ chance

B mode just means a backup effect when the main effect isn’t working. ie the scary little Dino head that pops out from the left when the main one at the end is down on Dinosaur.

Full app shutdown, when you start up you get the fireworks etc. It takes a couple seconds but it’s worth it to make sure the app refreshed properly.
