Hey everyone!

My wife and I are journeying from Saskatchewan, Canada to Disneyland and will be at the park on Thurs Feb.20th. Are there any school breaks in the area at this time?

Where are the CM’s who can help get a boarding pass located? As my cell provider is Canadian, I don’t know if there will be any delay in trying to access the network.

Thanks for any info you can provide!
Oh yes, the week around Lincoln's Birthday and Washington's Birthday (President's Day) has extended school breaks across the Southwest, some are known as Ski or Rodeo week. Also that time of year is popular with Cheer/Dance competitions.

Expect Moderate to Heavy crowds that week. Disney should expand operating hours due to the expected crowds.

Just as a Canadian to another Canadian, I'd recommend either trying to be on wifi when you get in the park (which apparently sucks) or does your plan have the Easy Roam option? For $8.00 a day you can then use data on an American network that day.

You only get charged with Easy Roam for the days you want it, just use data , make a call, or send a text to activate that one charge for the day and then use your phone to make sure you get a boarding group. Keep cellular data/roaming off on the days you don't want to use the phone.

Thanks for the advice! Will definitely shell out the extra cash to access data that day!

The ride opened only 10 minutes late this morning, but had a 90 minute breakdown early afternoon. The ride appears to have broken down a second time now as it's been closed for the last 20 minutes. Currently stuck at Boarding Group 66.

On the plus side, wait times for Millennium Falcon: Target Run are only 25 minutes even during this second breakdown!

If FastPass+ and 180 day dining reservations didn’t exist, I don’t think there would be the insane trip planning. There isn’t at DLP.

Yeah exactly ... These things dont exist at Disneyland, despite having similar attendance as the Magic Kingdom. That whole culture of hyper-planning was something that started at WDW back in the 90s (publishing books, trip planning DVDs and even computer programs) and was fueled by an audience that wanted to extend the magic for months before hand. It never took off at DLR because they have different audiences.

Yes, still at 66. But this is the daily High Tea downtime at Disneyland. It should reopen by 6pm and then close for the night around 8pm.
WDW didn’t even get into first backup groups and the number was already low. Starting to wonder if temperature is an issue.

What would be wonderful is if Disney was honest and actually told us what the daily problems were. I wish the company could be a tad transparent here. A lot of people would actually find it fascinating.

Is it the elevators resetting? The vehicles?

Just curious. Wouldn’t break the magic for me to know.

WDW started it because it was a resort... with multiple destinations to do things... Golf, Dining, recreation, theme parks, dining shows, etc. You didn't have the 'plan or miss out element' - but the wide range and depth of things to do (filling up a week) once EPCOT came online meant research and planning became part of the ritual. In EPCOT times, you'd still have the push to get dining reservations - you just did them morning of instead of 60 days out, etc.

This resort with such a range of different things differed from DL that was a single park with largely only 'day of' activities and dining.

Then as we got into the building boom of the late 80s... Disney started with the 'must see...' kind of marketing drum beating that kept telling guests all these things you can't miss and must do! Instead of "more to see next time..." people wanted to cram more and more in to do all the 'must see!' stuff. This fueled the cycle of planning, park commandos, etc. Disney just made it far worse with the umpteen pricing calendars, 180day ADRs, Dining Plans, and then ultimately FP+ reservations.
