This guy is saying the app wouldn't let him join a boarding group because his location services settings were turned off...

Or... the guy inaccurately assumes that was the reason. His ancedote is not enough to isolate the dependency.

Remember, people get glitched and not shown in the park alot and thats why so many relied on the guest services folks at DHS early on. Plus, the whole 'when do I open my app', etc.

The poor tourists from Oregon are showing up to the park at 9:30 after having breakfast in the hotel with little Billy in his Star Wars t-shirt ready to ride the exciting new ride and being told it has “sold out” hours ago. Sorry, Billy! Maybe in a few years on the next trip!
What did he have for breakfast?

Well to be fair, a lot of the higher groups were called with less than 2 hours before park closing, so they were trying to call as many as they could before park close. Really their only option after 7pm was to watch the projection show on the Chinese theater, watch fantasmic, go back to the hotel, or ride ROTR.

I suppose it makes sense to a degree, but if you had enough confidence in your virtual queue system, why wouldnt you use that to better manage the crowds? They started calling groups at a furious pace when the ride came back up at 2:00pm, so it seems safe to assume that the ride had a two hour wait for most of the time it was open. They rushed thru the groups at a furious pace, and all it did was look good on paper.

I don’t blame the tourists, blame Disney for creating this ridiculous situation.

You can still just go to the park and have a good day, without any planning. You just might miss out on some of the more popular things. Disney didnt create the insane trip planning phenomenon, the guests did.

DL had a better day in terms of BG/hr (which presumably corresponds to riders/hour?) within the uptime that they had, but was still significantly behind WDW’s typical day, and especially yesterday, where they called about 100 groups in just 5 hours

DL was beating WDW in the boarding group game today, which considering yesterdays downtime at wdw, seems strange. Its almost as though they realized calling everyone at once was a bad idea. Did anyone see what the queue at wdw looks like today?

If FastPass+ and 180 day dining reservations didn’t exist, I don’t think there would be the insane trip planning. There isn’t at DLP.
1000 times this. I have zero interest in planning which park I’m going to 60 days out let alone where I want to eat every meal, but now you almost have to in order to not get blocked out. It creates a circular planning frenzy that doesn’t need to exist and doesn’t at other parks. Frankly my days at the Universal parks are always the most relaxing just for this very reason.

My first thought exactly!

5th gate? Just build a new resort Bob.
I'm probably the only one, and I know it won't always be this way, but I'm kinda bummed out the only way to gain access to this attraction is through your phone. I don't even have the DL app.

I'm determined to wait until this isn't the case.
You can stand by the (former) Buzz Lightyear FP machines and get a BG that way,. You'll still need to be there before the park opens.

I don’t understand. If the main groups go in seconds, how does anyone in line stand a chance?

Do they hold a specific allotment for the kiosks? Or are kiosks basically back up groups by the time the line slowly moves forward?

Hey everyone!

My wife and I are journeying from Saskatchewan, Canada to Disneyland and will be at the park on Thurs Feb.20th. Are there any school breaks in the area at this time?

Where are the CM’s who can help get a boarding pass located? As my cell provider is Canadian, I don’t know if there will be any delay in trying to access the network.

Thanks for any info you can provide!
