I said the numbers don't lie...those are facts that can't be disputed. Harry potter sucking is of course my opinion, but let's not act like the numbers are out of this world for Universal and they are the clear favorite. The numbers still say Disney is King and the number 1 choice for consumers, by far. Again, MK added more guests and expanded their lead in attendance numbers. Disney just dominates in attendance and financially.

The other stuff is just discussion and good discussion at that.

Sorry, not fact. Those numbers can lie. Neither Disney nor Universal give their actual numbers. These are just best guesses. I wouldn't be surprised if DAK and DHS brought in roughly the same amount of people as IOA and USF.

MK is the top dog and will be for the foreseeable future...but don't count IOA and USF out. They have a good shot at becoming the #2 and #3 parks down the line...especially if WDW doesn't start to do something with the other three parks. There is far more than just Potter 2.0 on the horizon at Uni...whereas there isn't much on WDW's horizon in the near future aside from what's planned for DAK.

This.... this is what I want you to understand. Yes, clearly Disney dominates in attendance, that is a fact. But like @draybook preferred does not always mean better.
As you put it, "Disney is wiping the floor with Universal" but only in attendance and size. Nothing else!
All that land and half day parks with poorly maintained rides.

Right, they wipe the floor with Universal in measurables like attendance and revenues. The other stuff is just opinion.

I think Disney dominates content too. You don't...that's fine. But, more people choose to spend their money at Disney than Universal. A lot more. That's just a fact. It doesn't mean Disney is better in every area, but there are a lot of people like me who choose to skip Universal.

I can make Universal a half day park, easily. If you're making parks at Disney half day, you're not taking advantage of everything from my perspective. I stay 10 days and never feel satisfied.

Well people in this very thread quote the growth rates at Universal using those numbers, so they are all the facts we have. It's not like we're arguing small amounts. Disney dominates attendance is just a fact, despite not having actuals. I'm a Disney apologist, but I don't need to have a favored position to know the attendance and revenue batle is won by Disney Disney Disney.

They have a lot of work to do and perception to change if they want to unseat Disney from an attendance, length of stay, and park spend perspective.

As I said before, Disney is not going to just get trampled. They have the talent and immense financial resources to make things move very quickly if needed. I do think that time will come and we will all win. I don't pretend to know what Disney has planned for the foreseeable future.

IMHO, Universal will never catch up to WDW when it comes to attendance, as it is a secondary park. The main attraction to Orlando is WDW. If you took Universal and put it in another city, I imagine that their attendance numbers would take a huge hit, as the majority of people plan their vacations to go to WDW and spend a couple days at Uni. I am not saying that people don't go to Uni by itself. I would imagine for every 100 people that go to Uni, 70 of them are also going to WDW, where as for every 100 that go to WDW, only 30 of them are also going to Uni ...(these are not actual numbers, only my opinion). As long as the majority of split guests is still in the favor of WDW, and we haven't seen any reason to think that it would, Uni will never catch up.

Totally agree with the premise that many go to WDW and Universal or WDW alone, but few go to Universal and no WDW.

BTW, are you there right now?

Stop using attendance as a "measureable" you do not know this to be fact and Disney's numberss can be blown up because of park to park numbers. Only the parks know the numbers and they will never share them. They will also not admit that they are blown out of proportion.

I stayed 7 days in st Lucia and didn't feel satisfied, want to know what I did? Sat on a beach, sat by a pool, and ate. One day I aye 2 lunches because I couldn't decide which restaurant I preferred. Even I was sad to leave disney world last March. It wasn't because it was disney world, it was because I didn't want my vacation to end. And only one of those 4 days on property were spent in disney parks.

You keep quoting that Harry Potter sucks like it is a fact and you want to lecture me about opinions?:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
See you and I are much different, because I don't go around saying that just because something has no appeal to me that it "Sucks."
Of course more people go to Disney... Universal isn't really for small children anyway. I hear more families saying they skip Universal because their children are too young or too small for the rides way more than I hear people don't go just because.
And trust me, I'm not alone in saying that AK & HS are half day parks. Even stopping for character M&G, shows, & 1 sit down meal, I have never been able to spend more than 6 hours in Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom.
I have never been able to see any of the 7 shows at Universal or 3 shows Islands of Adventure because I spend all day trying to ride everything in one day. (I'll admit that Island of Adventure is a half day park but not USF.)

I'm tempted to ask if you ever have even been to Universal?

Yes, been at least 3 times, maybe more as a kid. My parents stopped taking us because we didn't enjoy it.

Still not sure why you're saying I said Harry Potter sucks is a fact...I do think it sucks, but it's my opinion. Harry Potter sucks. I guess it sounds like a fact when I say it?

Last time I checked, the majority of their great talent jumped ship to a place a little north of WDW.........
They do have Scott Trowbridge working on Star Wars!
He is famous for Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride, Revenge of the Mummy, The Simpsons ride, Sesame Street 4-D, Fear Factor Live and the early development of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Oh wait...

This is why these discussions comparing the two drive me nuts, I didn't say that their other parks weren't successful, I didn't even say that Uni was unsuccessful, I said they won't catch up in attendance. The point that I am making is that both locations and parks are in a way dependent upon each other. They both cherry pick guests from each others parks, it just happens that more go to WDW. When one is successful it helps the other one as well by adding an additional option for families....people in this country are all about choice, the more choices we have in an area, the more likely we are to chose that area as our vacation destination.

Well a few pages back you just said "Disney is still king of content and even if they take their sweet time with Star Wars, the content is already better." Like that was a fact.
But honestly, if you haven't stepped foot in Universal recently and openly admit you are biased then there is no need for us to keep speaking.

That is what I was responding too.
Not comparing the two parks. As a matter of fact, Universal's most success park is 4 hours away from the closest Disney property.
But I completely agree with your last statement about vacationing in places with options.

That is what I think and so do many others.
No I am not there, wish we were still there, we were there two weeks ago.
Never enough. Hope you had a great time.

This thread is quite entertaining to read.

I don't believe Universal is trying to catch up to Disney in attendance, and I don't believe fans are necessarily championing for Universal to catch up. People, myself included, just appreciates all that Comcast is doing for the Universal parks, with such speed, too.

I can agree with this. I honestly don't see the need to keep comparing the two. To me, they are two different animals and are progressing in their own ways at their own paces. Doesn't make one better than the other; after all, there is no way to factually prove something is "better." "Better" is always subjective, no matter how you slice it, and depends largely on an agreed upon way to determine the qualification. Not likely to happen, since everyone has different views of what makes a good park.

As far as the comment earlier in the thread about most people going to Orlando and going to Uni but not WDW, I can think of three couples off the top of my head who have done so on different trips: me and DH (three years ago), my sister and her boyfriend (two weeks ago), and one of my best friends and her husband (a week ago; the last couple actually went with a large group of extended family, and not one person set foot on Disney property for the entire trip). I know that thinking of three groups doesn't prove anything, as that's far from the tip of the numbers iceberg, and I do remember the person who posted that saying that their comments weren't meant to imply that this doesn't happen; just adding real-life incidents to the discussion.

On a side note, though... I have to say that being reminded that Comcast has their hands in Uni makes me want to visit Uni a little less lol. I hate Comcast with a passion!

I'm just sick of the ridiculous bickering, and even more sick of the absurd reasons spewed out.

I don't like Comcast for cable, but I love what they're doing for the Universal parks. I live in California, and we've got multiple things coming in the next few years at USH.
