Having experienced both Harry Potter (with its soaring music throughout) and SWGE, I prefer the former. When I’m in Universal I’ll sometimes just sit down and enjoy the bgm sipping a butterbeer for 30 min, and it just makes me simile. I wish SWGE had a cycle of the Force theme, Han and the princess, etc. It doesn’t need to be the main theme, or the Imperial March, but it should be music that once its playing you recognize as Star Wars.

I didn’t. But there was video of an animatronic of Ackbar’s species static and video from the Hanger room of the the queue with worklights on. I believe it was cropped in a square so it could’ve been taken from Instagram.
Interesting! I saw a thumbnail of the video with the animatronic you mentioned but it said the video was taken down when I tried to watch it, and the thumbnail no longer appears. I wonder if this is Back Door Disney at it again? Or a brave/stupid CM? Maybe even an urban explorer? If anyone managed to grab screenshots PM them!

Sorta odd it was only on one place, and hasn't resurfaced. NOt on Reddit or Twitter. Haven't dug too deep, as it seems to show very little.

DH and I went last Wed (21st) for our 3pm AP preview. He forgot our printouts, but all they needed was an ID and to scan our magicbands. The rock work is done very well- seems Disney has that down to a science now- and there is the usual Disney attention to detail. It really has the feel of an uninviting, run-down, desert outpost. When we were there, we saw Chewie, Rey, storm troopers, and an Empire dude walking around. The storm troopers engaged visitors, but Chewie and Rey wallked quickly, as if trying to avoid being stopped. The Empire dude walked around as if surveying his territory, pretty much ignored by all. I'm wondering how the characters will fare when open to everyone and there are crowds around these wandering characters wanting pictures and autographs.

MFSR's line was hot and desperately needed fans. Why they would open a new ride without any, knowing it is Florida, is beyond me. Inside, it was cooler. We snaked around a repair bay that included sound effects and voices, but no movement. There needed to be droids doing something- 'welding', hammering, turning a screwdriver, or even slacking off like the one in Star Tours, but instead there's lots of tools scattered about and an engine on a rack with a voice every now and then that talks about the need to get it going.

Hondo is great! The spiel is entertaining and funny, and the animatronic is one of their best. In the chess room, you mill about with your color card while the yelling cast members try to track down everyone with the color they are trying to board. Rather chaotic- needs a robot voice to announce "yellow now boarding" instead.

We were engineers and had little to do. I hit a flashing light once, and pushed a few blue buttons several times- that's it. Our pilots continually crashed, but we went right through the wreckage like in video games and kept going, while Hondo made encouraging comments. The pod jerked and bumped around, but the movement was nothing near that of Star Tours. Once done, our crew trooped out silently to the elevator. When I said, "Well, been there, done that!" everyone nodded and stayed quiet.

The marketplace is the only place we had any desire to sit for a while. There's music there, an odd mix, but it has movement and life. We finished our Coke and watched 3 CMs take 15 minutes and 7 rags to clean up a small blue milk spill. I give them a couple of weeks before they start ignoring trash like they do in other parks and areas.

Overall, we thought the theme was done well, but there needed to be more going on. There's lots of sound effects, but no movement to go along with anything. A few droids here and there doing something would add greatly to the environment, as would music. I'd ride MFSR again with a FP if only to see Hondo again. As for simply sitting and enjoying, SWGE doesn't appeal to us.

So I am going for a four day trip in September from the 18 to 22, but my group decided to skip DHS completely. For two reasons, we are worried about the crowds it is my boyfriends first trip to Disney in 12 years so given our shorter vacation time frame I want him to get the most of his time. and secondly I don't want to go to a land that has only one completed ride and would rather wait until my Food and Wine or Festival of the Arts Trips for a SWGE trip. Am I making a huge mistake?

Possibly.
You've got four days - why not try to hit GE in the evening?

I semi Joked about it earlier this year, but we may actually be impacted by a tropical storm or hurricane Sunday or Monday -- Dorian-- which would make Saturday the best day to go based on how dead the parks get. That would also screw up the numbers for Disney.
