Anyone else find it odd that the new Potter coaster at Universal is totally stealing Galaxy's Edge's thunder right now? I know they're on different coasts and all but it's kind of shocking me the reactions I'm seeing to the one coaster compared to all of Galaxy's Edge.

I haven't seen or heard anything about the Potter Coaster.
I kid you not.

I haven't heard about it outside of podcasts and DisTwitter, whereas I hear "common folk" talking (and asking me about) Galaxy's Edge all the time.

Granted, everything I hear about the new Harry Potter ride has been VERY positive, I don't think it has "regular" people talking nearly as much as Galaxy's Edge. I would say that the actual opening of The Wizarding World at Universal was similar, but I don't think the new ride is really stealing GE's thunder.

Coasters are fun. It's a mix of seven dwarfs mine train and Tron coaster.
I haven't seen it steal Galaxy's Edge thunder....but Potter is an older land and has 4 rides to GE's one ride right now. Need to wait and see once Galaxy's Edge opens it's Rise of the Resistance ride and the new Star Wars hotel to get the full feel of the Land Disney has created.

What Disney has done is create an amazing baseline world with a solid Falcon ride and a State of the art Rise of the Resistance Dark Ride. The World is very very detailed with room to grow...and if popular...it will grow as you have seen with The Wizarding World.

All win win for a theme park fan such as myself.

Is there any possibility of Annual Passholder previews for SW:GE at DHS? I know nothings for certain, but is there a chance?

Calling out to @marni1971 with a question that's just popped into my head, and is off topic with the current thread of discussion, so my apologies.
You keep mentioning the possibility of ships flying around SW:GE in Florida, but have seemingly made a point to indicate this isn't happening in DL. Is there any reason for this? Is it something extra to add to the fanfare of the Florida version of the land, or something altogether different, regarding drone airspace, guest safety, etc?

Most of our insiders have indicated no previews, no soft opens, no nothing...

Actually, we can consider the earlier than advertised (Fall or Late Fall 2019) opening to be the soft opening, sans RotR.

10 hour wait for Hagrid ALREADY!! Signs of things to come or worse Aug 29th?? How did Hagrid shoot up so fast ??? It's just 1 ride, not a whole land?!?!
I did not know that Hagrid was in Star Wars: Galaxies Edge and that SW:GE was already open.
What is the wait time currently for Olga's Canteen?!?

I would find it odd... if it were true.
I'm excited for it, and we're going to go over to Universal for a day to ride it when were at WDW in July, but that's because our Universal APs expire at the end of July and it won't cost us anything more than the cost of an Uber to go experience it. We've decided to fly back down in August and stay at the Boardwalk just to experience Galaxy's Edge. That's something we'd never do for any Harry Potter experience.

I was not, but if someone was, it seems it was done in the wrong thread;)

There was a discussion comparing a perceived paucity of buzz / negative buzz around SW:GE to perceived plethora of buzz / positive buzz around the new Universal coaster, with the comparison being used as a bellwether on the failure of SW:GE.

This overly analytical summary brought to you by Blue Milk... surfacing irrational rage against vegans since 2019. ;-)

No, no knowledge about DL either way.

I hope they "beat that" by making it so no one has to wait 600 minutes. While I had my doubts about the reservation system at Disneyland, everything I see and hear about it makes it look like a much, much smoother opening than what I expected with just thousands of people clawing and trampling their way over each other to get through the land.

Same here - I'm really hoping they do SOMETHING for DHS.
