Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

If they were smart just turn off fastpass in the beginning weeks and keep it all standby. Then they don’t have to worry about it.
Would definitely be easier for them. No question. I can’t imagine how difficult it will/would be to traverse the crowds. Basically they would have to have an entry/passageway for FP holders all the way from the skyliner

Back in the paper FP days, when park attendance was too low, Disney simply didn’t open the FP machines, and the queues moved quickly. Many guests remember the slow-moving lines on summer days prior to FP, but few people emphasize how much faster regular days were when the machines weren’t used.

When the network went down last week, most wait times plummeted because high-capacity attractions gobbled up the crowds like they were built to do. For example, there’s no reason for POTC to use only half its loading dock because one side is devoted to FP; the attraction was built to process thousands of riders, not to create false lines.

Don’t get me wrong: I know how to use FP+ to my advantage, but I also know that the park would operate more efficiently without the system.

TSL accepted FP starting opening day. That was foolish. Expect SWGE to do the same because execs are still obsessing over the unfulfilled promises of FP+.

Just need to point out that this is simply not true. One of the queues is devoted to Fastpass but once you reach the merge point either loading dock can and is used for fastpass and standby. They are fully utilizing both loading docks.

Correct, though the original WDW Pirates could shift a huge amount of people. Ingeniously it was like two rides in the same building, that just happened to share the same show scenes and waterway.

People who go on opening day know what to expect. It’s all about bragging rights. Both for the guest and for Disney.

meh i think there are....TONS of ill advised and or ill informes guests that show up for day one of anything and exspect to walk right the heck on....if i was wrong guest services wouldn't get a work out these days.

Do you think that they will shoot gunnite ( concrete) on the buildings then sculpt it smooth then paint work, that would work,
I believe there's a variety of construction techniques and technologies at play. I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of them.

Also, that post you quoted is from 2015.

When you see how much space there will be left in the land to movr around, it doesn't look like a lot

Oh, it's a lot.

Just zoom in on any of the pics and look for humans and human-sized objects: pick-up trucks, port-a-potties, traffic cones. Don't look at the oversized construction equipment unless you focus on their cabs.

Of course, any large space can feel too small if you pack enough people into it.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of the buildings are shops and food service, and so, these aren't spaces that are blocked off, but covered.

Any more to the old rumors that the upper floors might be utilized for up-charge guest use in the form of rent-able cabana spaces or role-play type activities and small shows?

And here's a bit of wishful thinking: I know they can't fly drones over guest space, but those two show-buildings are massive and they do span the entire lenght of the land. What I'd like to see are drones that take off from one end of the Falcon building and land on the opposite end of the Alcatraz building. They'd be scaled down versions of Star Wars shuttles, freighters and fighters. Passing behind the spires would give a sense that they are actually big ships that are far away. Honestly, it's the one thing I thought Pandora was lacking- kinetics (they could take the same idea and do banshee drones, but the backdrop isn't quite as wide.) This would help make Black Spire seem like a real bustling spaceport.

Everything in your post would be a dream come true for me. Please Mickey, please make it happen!

Looks like DHS version of Galaxy's Edge might have fully finished spires all around vs. the Cali version where the backs are finished like Radiator Springs (meaning half done). Is that true? With a hotel behind it and TSL next door, this seems like the case.

I'm not seeing the difference. The largest spires by Falcon have gaps in the back, all the mountains are left unfinished with sharp drop offs where one can't see from on stage, and both coasts have the mountains on sticks along the back.
The hotel is not expected to have any actual windows, so the idea of a Galaxy's Edge view is seemingly moot.
