Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

One of your quotes is about the Falcon. The other the Alcatraz queue / preshow.
Oops, I thought that was part of the Alcatraz preshow. Never mind then.
That said, that circular structure is indeed over on the left side of Alcatraz at DL. I guess it must not be for the preshow though. I've quoted the video below.
Here is a video from the DLR to give you an idea what the DHS project will look like soon since the two builds are supposed to be identical.

From Galactic Nights. First photos are from inside battle attraction. You’ll have a creature stall inside the marketplace area in that their will be “live” creatures and the opportunity for you to adopt one. The village will also be named Black Spire Outpost.

As excited as I am for this attraction, I'm a little worried about the dullness of the color scheme (even if it does fit the story), @marni1971 will almost all the sets feature a such a dominance of gray?

Red might show up.

Or green.

I don’t believe the first photo is from the attraction. But, the sets of the ride will be in keeping with the movies.

I'm relieved it looks as if it will avoid becoming a dark light fest once the action starts. That works ok for Indy because of the spooky haunted underworld you're supposed to be entering into. But the Empire/First Order shouldn't use black light effects.

It also permits greenery and shade. Tatooine would have been uncomfortable.
Yeah, so many of the Star Wars planets seem to have unappealing climates for a theme park - Dagobah, Hoth, Mustafar, Malachor etc.

I like the fact that they're creating an original location that's actually kind of interesting on its own.

The pictures do not even feature black light, merely floodlights/worklights caught at an interesting angle. I personally can’t think of any places in GE (aside from one or two minor applications) that utilize Blacklight.

Sometime during the current trilogy with the First Order battling the Resistance.

It’s not quite clear since:

1) Poe’s black x-wing is destroyed in the Last Jedi, and we see it looking fine in the model.

2) The Millennium Falcon “hasn’t flown for ages” in the Jakku junkyard, and is in constant use by Rey for the rest of TFA and TLJ.

3) Concept art shows Kylo Ren with his mask on.

4) Concept art shows Hondo and Chewie discussing the Falcon’s use.

So, I’m guessing they are being a little loosey goosey on time here.

I think they are going to be a lot "loosey goosey" LOL - and it's going to work out fine.

I know they are pushing for immersion on many levels (though I think some folks are expecting an unrealistic, perhaps almost absurd level) but they know people will expect various eras represented.

Example, while I don't think they are going to have M&G with Padme, Leia, and Rey all together at once (though, yet again...how cool would that be LOL?), but it will be like now where Young Luke/Leia/etc. are in one place, Phasma/Finn/etc. are in another. I suspect there will even be some prequel stuff strewn about in details - remember, while we view it mostly through the lens of decades and based on toys, LOL, ships and droids and other things last in this world for decades. All "Roger Roger" droids didn't disappear from the galaxy at the end of ROTS, for example.

In any case, I do have faith that it will work, and be a balance between immersion and the practicalities of giving the majority of people what they want.

Did we suddenly get thrown back a few decades?

True professional movie reviewers, trained journalists, are almost non-existent any more.
I've always thought the space was rather an odd one even if we restrict ourselves to journalistic criticism vs academic criticism.

I'd assert that we still have the dozen or so journalistic film critics in the U.S. who really matter - those writing for major media outlets and specialty industry journals. But for most consumers, the democratization of information on the internet means that I don't have to settle for the movie review from the publication that I happen to subscribe to, say the local newspaper. Instead, I can get a more useful review from alternative media. For instance, if I want to know what's playing this weekend that might be worth going to see, I might get a gross view from review aggregation sites, though I think this is generally very inaccurate relative to movies that I will like.

OTOH, given that I am somewhat of a student of Star Wars, I might want to find online reviews from those of similar mind and use that to decide whether to pay my $15 to see it in the theater or wait until it comes out on video.

Frankly, I'm relatively happy at the decline of the "hack" movie critic writing for sub-par mass-media journals gunning to be quoted in the movie ad.

The poor performance of Solo at the box office can't be spun as good, but it does deliver high ratings from key constituencies like those who thought The Last Jedi was a betrayal. For the parks, they don't need everyone to love every movie. They would do better solving the problem of having everyone love one of the movies.

Anyway, I don't think Solo's box office performance affects anything short-term (or course) or even medium term except for the raw loss in corporate profits. I think it's it's positive that they spent that boatload of money in reshoots to get the product out that they wanted.

So I've seen on Facebook Disney appear to have stopped taking new hotel bookings for October 2019. Could this be linked to Galaxy's Edge. If so why would they temporarily suspend bookings?
