Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I’m still curious how “big” this land is going to feel. It’s only two acres larger than pandora, correct? Pandora feels very small to me when I walk around in there so I’m hoping this doesn’t have that same effect. In pandora you do that small little loop past the two attraction entrances and then your back at the beginning. It is purty to look at though!

I was shocked by how intimate Pandora felt. Definitely surprising. It probably had a lot to do with the placement of the foliage.

Good chunks of Pandora are taken up by the overflow queue and water features. Imagine if all that space occupied by nature were stores you can wander around in.

When you step back and look at the Avland onstage guest space it’s surprisingly little. They did a good job making it seem bigger than it is.

Does anyone have acreage estimates of the onstage (or specifically outdoor?) guest space in Pandora and in Galaxy’s Edge?

That would be very interesting to know. Of course, it won’t tell us everything about how GE will “feel” space-wise, since Pandora is mostly one big open space (sort of), while GE will have many small, visually-separate streets and alleyways.

Right, I think this has just escalated to an untrue point possibly. I never heard that there wouldn't be Coke at all in the land, just that there wouldn't be logos or branding anywhere.

The same is supposed to be true with the logos for the major credit card companies, but surely nobody thinks Disney won't be accepting cards in this land?

Exactly. People are taking this a bit too far in their thinking.

Remind me to measure it.

I just took Google Maps screenshots of DHS and Pandora (at the same distance zoom wise), traced the rough outline of GE and put it over Pandora for reference. This is the first time I've actually been worried about the size of GE. Unless something is wrong scale wise, it doesn't look like the actual guest-facing space is much bigger than Pandora.

A decent amount of Pandora's outdoor space is taken up by landscaping and water features, isn't it?

Hey, Martin... when you get a chance, don't forget to measure it! o_O
SWL ballpark figure just under 4 acres. This includes the market area, walkways, bathrooms, stores, QSR and TSR. Basically all the onstage land not including the show buildings or berms.

Avland is around 5, again including QSR, store, walkways, foliage and ponds but inside the land berms and not including show buildings or ride queues.

So GE is 4 acres of guest facing space while Pandora is 5 acres of guest facing space? I've only been in Pandora once, but again that sounds a bit concerning. I've got really high hopes for GE, so I guess this helps temper expectations.

The layouts are different though. Avland has the mountains in the middle and is basically a large open square shape in front of the show building that’s broken up with elevation changes, foliage and water features.

SWL is a much more elongated space, which opens up at the west end. The east end will be essentially a large pathway from Grand Avenue to the market area.

Also, with SWL, you'll be able to move in and out of all the marketplace buildings which increase the guests' footprints. You can't wander in and out of the water features of Pandora without some Cast Members making some sort of remark impinging on one's personal freedoms.

There's also the difference of actual square footage versus perceived square footage going on. I haven't seen Pandora in person yet, but from descriptions it sounds like a land you can see "all" of from a couple angles across a main central plaza. GE sounds more like it will be a layered experience - so I wager those shops and small alleys to move in and out of, explore and find new details in will add greatly to the guest perceptions of size.

EDIT: just flipped open my David Younger "Bible" - the technical difference in his terminology would be that Pandora is designed with "Clear Routes" and GE will be a combination of "Hidden Routes" and "Mystery Routes." (pg. 297-298)

You’ll be able to see all four sides of SWL like you can Avland from a central spot. SWL will gain by having more nooks and crannies.

Guessing from the plaza roughly in front of the Falcon? With views toward weenies at Alcatraz, in the shops, and at the First Order controlled end of "town?"
