Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Here is a video from the DLR to give you an idea what the DHS project will look like soon since the two builds are supposed to be identical.

The finished appearance of the lands might end up identical but the construction methods will be vastly different in some cases. In particular the Foundations of the Florida project are more complex due to the poor soil conditions and High water table. What I'm getting at here is you can pay attention to the shapes of structures and how they relate to each other but beyond that expect some vastly different construction methods and material usage particularly with the foundations. Once they start going vertical things might start looking similar but even then there might be some subtle differences due to the florida projects compensation for the High water table issue. Namely they will likely build Up the terrain to compensate for not being able to dig down.

Hard to tell, but the inner forms/rebar appear to be ramping up/down in the spiral spiral, making me think it either ramps up or ramps down. Knowing WDW/FL water tables, if the designs are the same it would have to ramp up from an entry. Or is it a tiered foundation for the a centrifuge system for the Falcon simulator ala Mission: Space? Curious indeed.

I don't think it is part of the Falcon ride since the diagrams that have been posted of the project at DL show the flacon show building separate from the battle ride building.

Did not see this posted...Believe this site is okay to post a link to. It looks like this was posted today. Alcatrez seems to be moving much faster now.

Faster then a few months ago, but only minor changes since the picture from two weeks ago. Here is the current aerial and the one from two weeks ago below. Concrete has been pored in a couple of the foundations since last time. They are also starting to dig the pit deeper which I am a little surprised at, I assumed what we saw last time was the finished depth.

I have gone back in the other thread and tried to find the post with the diagrams and am having no luck. Can you re post them to this thread?

If this is correct for DL it's worth noting there are some differences between here and Orlando in building shape and orientation.

In what way? It seems to match with what is being built for the battle ride, and there is a large open space next to it for the Falcon ride.

Just certain building orientation and placement. For example I believe the Falcon in Orlando will have its queue and preshow integrated within a slightly different shaped single building.
Could that be due to different themes of the lands? or things such as rock work differences?

It is still substantially shallower than DL. Ironic, I know. :hilarious:

They just have to wear swimwear.

It's not unheard of to go well below ground level in WDW. Just not entire basement floors.
Well... you can do full basements in Florida, it just requires pretty robust water proofing the expense of which makes building up much less expensive.
