Has there been an update on a realistic time frame for this? I presume we are going to have to wait a LONG time.

I have wanted a full Star Wars themed park every since I first realised how good theme parks could be (first Disney/Universal visit) but the wait now is going to be hard work hahaha!

So the rumors have started swirling around that a more detailed Nintendo announcement is fast approaching, possibly including an opening date for all three parks. Surely Disney would want to beat them to the punch and announce at least an opening year for SWL?

I know we've been saying 2019 (2020 by a few accounts) on here, but what does it say to the general public given Disney's notoriety for moving at a glacial pace if they get beat out (through announcement, actual opening, or both) by a land that has yet to even start construction?

The general public doesn't start paying attention until the marketing push goes into overdrive. Their ears perk up at announcements, but it's not until it's hammered home with the big marketing push.

That is why what Disney did with Star Wars Land is so odd. They perked the ears the the SWL announcement and then started a huge marketing push for "Only at DHS!!!" only to have, a 20 year old ride, a lame M&G, a stage show, and fireworks.

When the marketing push goes into overdrive again when the land actually opens, meh.

We already have a general idea of Nintendo Land opening. 2020 in Japan and then the other parks after that. So I don't see Disney getting beat by anything.

Took this by using a chair at the construction wall at Toy Story Midway Mania.

This is definitely true. I have a few friends who are going to WDW this summer. One told me they wanted to stay at a resort closer to DHS because they would probably be spending a lot more time there with all the Star Wars stuff. I felt bad breaking the bad news to them that the actual rides and land won't be open for at least a few years. They spent a lot of time hyping the new Star Wars "stuff" and showed some concept art of the land but failed to tell the average guest that the "stuff" that's actually open now is a gift shop, meet and greet and fireworks.
