Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Any word on what will happen to the existing Star Wars stuff by the time this land opens? I've always felt that the current Star Wars stuff in HS was thrown together to first take advantage of the new billion dollar IP Disney purchased and second to give people a better reason to go to HS. I'd honestly like to see Star Tours stay but for it to be absorbed into the new land and the outside re-done. The AT AT is cool till you see the red I-beams that make up its legs. Basically it only looks cool from one angle before you start to see the exposed construction materials. Again, feels like a rush job.

Also, I see an amazing Star Wars parade coming at some point with a giant AT AT walker that walks in the parade. If they can pull off the giant dragon in Festival of Fantasy, they can pull off an AT AT. Could also see Boba Fett jet packing down like tinker bell does, parade interrupted halfway through by dark side Jedi and a "battle" ensues, etc.

deesnee out.

.
The ATAT was far from a rushed job. It's been standing since 1990 and was purposely designed to show the backside isn't real.

Everything else aside from the adjacent ride was rushed together.

So are they not digging down for Alcatraz after all?

Yes, I believe they are, not sure why they would have put in the sheet pile if they weren't. Last pictures we saw it looked like they were doing grouting for ground stabilization. It's probably easier to do that before they excavate otherwise you have to get the equipment down into the hole. They still need to finish the sheet pile on one end. The town hall building was in the way of doing that, but it's gone now.
