Did they know about FP+? This isn't my opinion, it's a fact. The ride has to close when there is lightning or heavy rain.

It's irrelevant. If they built Test Track, and if it is still functioning today, there is zero reason an outdoor Radiator Springs Racers ride would not be equally, if not more successful.

Here's the original thread when Carsland was rumored back before Disney bought Lucasfilms. It's all talked about in here. I don't feel like reliving the past when there are 300+ pages of the same discussion. Plenty of people who know a lot more than I do talking about the potential plans. The rumors died out when Disney bought Lucasfilms and a better option presented itself.

Who knows, they could still end up making a version of Carsland in FL or they might not. The good news is you can always see the original in CA:)

While I'd really enjoy a Monstropolis area (however not cars land at all really) I think it'd be much smarter to make phase 3 a mix of Pixar rides. Think about it, if phase 3 was just another singular IP based land, there would be very little diversity. It would be Hollywood, Star Wars, muppets, toy story, and whatever phase 3 would be. A park with so many lands based on a single IP are destined for future failure. While I feel Star Wars and Hollywood will live for a while longer, I just don't see muppets, toy story and whatever phase 3 is surging as time goes on.

I'd really like to see it be a combo of the monsters inc door coaster, and UP Paradise Falls ride, some type of incredibles ride and a restaurant themed to ratatouille. The possibilities for Pixar can go on forever, but building yet another land of one IP could mean disaster in the future. Especially In a park with three other (if you include muppets and with muppets courtyard rumored, I include it) lands just like that.

I'm guessing star tours will be rethemed? Cause currently they'll have to do a lot of work on it. Makes me wonder if the land in WDW will be any different than the one in DLR.
For the facade and gift shop, yes. The ride itself, however, probably won't see any major changes aside from more alternate scenes.

It's too late to change Test Track now. It's more of an issue now with FP+ then it was before. Thunderstorms come through and usually pass relatively fast but when everything is scheduled it causes big logistical issues.
Well they changed the rest of the ride. If they really felt that this was a big issue, then they should've just built a show building over the back part of the track and tunnels over the front part. And don't make the excuse that the redo was before FP+ because it was right before and designed with MagicBands in mind.

What about the whole PIXAR Land?
It was just a joke since he described the exact blueprint for Islands of Adventure and then said it was destined for failure.

I would have no problem with a Pixar Land featuring multiple rides based on Pixar movies but that doesn't seem as likely since they already announced Toy Story as a separate Land. It's more likely that they would pick 1 or possibly 2 additional franchises and build lands based on them. Cars/Monsters/Incredibles are the most obvious choices, but by the time ground is broken there could be a new Pixar property they might want to add too.

Again, like I said to the other poster, it didn't come from me. I was just repeating what was discussed for months before Star Wars came into the picture.

Ok, I'll just go by my belief that Test Track and rain isn't that big of a concern since they probably would've changed that part of the ride if that was the case.

The great part about these boards is you can read what other people write and choose what you want to believe.

If you scroll back through the lengthy threads at the time, weather closing was only one of the potential issues. Based on info from people who know a lot more about construction than I do, one of the most expensive parts of building RSR was building the elaborate rock work and mountains. In FL it would potentially cost even more because they would need to be built to withstand hurricane force winds and the ground in FL is less stable so the footings would need to be more substantial. In order to save money and avoid these issues one of the plans on the table was an indoor only version of RSR or RSR lite.

So... How would they expect to keep the tree-like objects up in STL from hurricane winds and unstable grounds?
