Simple Math. Wait time has less to do with things than hourly capacity does.

Currently FoP has a 125 min wait and MF has a 105 min wait. Let's assume those waits hold through the rest of the day.

FoP hourly capacity is 1440 people per hour. MF is 1800, although I've heard people here say it's really more like 1650, so for the sake of argument we will use the 1650 number.

DHS opened at 6 AM and closes at 10 PM. That's a 16 hour day. During that time, 26,400 people will ride (16 x 1650). AK opened at 7 AM and closes at 9:30 PM - a 14.5 hour day. So during that time, 20,800 people will ride (14.5 x 1440). This assumes both rides are running with all theaters/simulators.

Now, as we said above, we will assume the current wait times will be the same wait time at end of day. This means that at park close, no more people will enter the line. MF will have 105 min of people to process. This means another 2,887 people will ride MF after park close (1.75 the capacity, as 105 min is 1.75 hours). FoP will have an additional 2,995 people ride (2.08 x 1440). So the totals for the day will be:

FoP: 23,895
MF: 29,287

So yes, about 5500 more people will ride MF today than FoP.
It's not simple math when you make tons of assumptions. You have no idea what theaters are in use and what are not, meaning you have no idea what numbers of people are moving through.

The simple fact is that the newest and "most anticipated opening ever" can't even provide a longer line on day 3 than a ride that has been in existence for years.

All that math just to say there MIGHT be as many as 20% more riders than another ride? That doesn't say much...Again, there will be more people riding It's A Small World today than any ride. That doesn't mean it's more popular. The line length will tell you how "must do" the ride is for guests.

Line length does not tell you how must do an attraction is. That's the flaw in your logic. Otherwise PP would be the number two must do at MK. But sure, go ahead and change your argument when presented with facts.

I'm not even arguing that MF is without it's problems. Just that comparing line length of two rides at different parks is not a good barometer.

No matter if you’re “upbeat” or “downbeat” on Star Wars...we all seem to be in general agreement it was an “event” movie in 2015.

This was Disney...and self professed (but not really) Star Wars fan JJ abrams correcting all those mistakes from grouchy George.

Not saying I think that...but it was the consensus undertone/perception. It was the feeling “on the street”

They got $2 billion out of that.

But it’s the substance of the movie that would or would not carry it forward to further riches and franchise strengthening. And the narrative (bland reboot) and characters are what has pulled it down since.

What was the “thing” about the OT? People could watch them over and over and over again. Still do.
The market for merchandise was growing leading into the prequels. 16 years.

This isn’t really a debate...it’s just what has happened.

I'll take your word for it on merchandising. I don't know anything about that. The substance of the new movies is most certainly up for debate, though. And given that the box office pattern is similar to what happened 30+ years ago, I don't think b is proof of anything regarding their quality.

I realize this isn't really getting at the land, though so I get if we need to stop talking about it. It's also typical that one's opinion about movies is pretty well fixed so we'd probably wind up right where we started anyway. 😄

Peter Pan IS one of the most popular rides. It has been for years. That's why it along with Seven Dwarves Mine Train are both excluded from "make-up" fastpasses given out when the MK ride you have a fastpass for closes during your fastpass window. However, it is not the top ride. Seven Dwarves and Flight of Passage have consistently been more popular.

P.S. I didn't change my argument. I have been saying the line length of FoP shows it's more popular because of guest's willingness to wait longer for it. That's been the point the whole time. Clearly it's pointless to convince you. Those who understand got the point hours ago. So, they will be glad to know this is the last time I return your pointless debate.

I’ll probably do a more full write-up about opening day, but a few things to note (including a few merch things since I know merchandise availability has been one worry):
- the droid depot backpacks didn’t sell out (we got ours right after our 8:30pm time slot)
- yellow and white Kyber crystals were gone by the end of the day
- there was a consistent line for Dok Ondar’s (we waited 2-ish hours which was probably the peak)
- I have mixed feelings on Falcon, but won’t elaborate in this post
- the cantina food for breakfast was not good
- if you get the rancor beer flight or another collectible mug from the cantina, your hotel’s gift shop can not ship it for you. It isn’t technically merchandise since it’s from the food and beverage division and it doesn’t have a SKU...
- ...which brings me to: If you are shipping stuff home from the hotel (so it’s a single shipment) SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS. We got lucky that we didn’t toss any of them. They need the SKU numbers to be able to ship them
- TSA reversed their decision on the bottles and they can now be brought in carry-on if empty or checked bags if full

if anyone has specific questions, I’ll gladly do my best to answer them. I know this is a bit delayed from opening day, but we’ve been working out stuff with the hurricane so I hadn’t gotten the chance to post yet 😅

EDIT: another HUGE takeaway that I just remembered: make sure your merchandise works. I had no problems with Savi’s or Droid Depot, but my gf wasn’t so lucky. They had to swap out both the shell and ‘motivator’ (the internal BB component) for her droid and her saber blade had a section that was dead (which I fortunately caught before we walked away). In both cases, they replaced it, but their QA seems to be pretty lackluster so definitely something to look out for.

SWGE is not going to be a failure on any level. The reason people continue to create posts expressly aimed at claiming "it's a success", is merely loyalism manifesting as defense of their emotions.

I have yet to read one post that says the land is or will be a failure. BUT, there are multiple posts exclaiming how successful the land is, as if there was a need to come to it's defense. Why defend something that wasn't being attacked? Comparing wait times is not an attack. Comparing crowd levels is not an attack. Its just a comparison, the same as any other new product faces. If SWGE was anywhere near the level of "success" that so many people claimed it would be, there would be no discussion. Lines for Smugglers Run would be 10 hours long and there would be no need to "prove" anything. But the lines are not 10 hours long, ...and that's ok! It doesnt mean the land is a failure.

It's that Disneyland had an ENTIRE SUMMER where they hit zero attendance benchmarks. Millions were spent on a reservations system that only 40% of people holding them bothered to show up to by the last two weeks and more millions were spent on a "virtual queue" system that was used for a couple hours. They did not have the summer they were expecting and guests there are clearly underwhelmed by the land, given how little time they spend in it. Given that, people are trying to read the tea leaves as much as possible here at WDW to see what the reaction will be.

friends of ours are currently in SWGE and sent me a video and there is a person clearly drinking a beer while standing by the Falcon. They had no idea where people might be getting the beer, (aside from getting one at Olgas and leaving with it). They noticed several people with (adult) drinks in hand while roaming the land. Does anybody know what the deal is? Can you snag a brewski and walk around the land? I hope so.

I’m not positive, but it could be related to the time limit for the cantina. You’re limited to 45 minutes (and 2 drinks per person, whether or not they contain alcohol) so maybe they allow alcohol to be carried in the land?

If they ditched the boarding groups maybe people are buying them in the park and then walking in with them?

They also literally a beer tap house 100 feet from the entrance where you can take drinks to go?

Last I will say on the subject: the reason you can't make assumotions based on a single day of wait times - if even ONE theater went down at FoP, the wait time would automatically increase significantly. For example, let's say the wait time was 90 minutes and one theater suddenly went down. The wait time would instantly increase to 112 minutes. If two theaters went down, it would increase to 134 minutes.

You have to look at trends over time. My only point was that there are way too many variables to form any conclusions about MF based on a single wait time comparison, or even a single day comparison. To say "people chose to spend their time on FoP, not MF" is a wild guess and there's not enough data to reach that conclusion.

And this will be my last word on the matter.

Has anyone done a comparison of MF with Haggids Motor Bike? I know its been a show with breaking down but it has very long waits since opening. So which one is more sucessful?

Based on what you’re saying, I assume you haven’t looked far beyond what theme park fans have to say. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the Star Wars fandom is one of the most toxic and has a contingent that blindly hates anything that is remotely associated with the franchise’s recent installments. Just look up “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Failure” on YouTube and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

I am going ro reserve my judgement on the land until I see it in a few weeks. I liked Star Wars when it came out but nust admit I liked Star Trek more. The biggest mistake I see from an immersion point of view was they should have has the entrance be Star Tours. The could have had the same land but then have different ships take you to the different planets in the universe and different rides on different planets. Think Endor with a treehouse restaurant and speedcycle rollercoaster. They can still do this and if they did they could please everyone. In any case the land will be profitable because people like me will buy a couple of Lightsabers and droids. Like it or not niether Disney nor Comcast care about how much you love their rides and attractions but how much merchandise you buy and how much food and beverages you eqt and drink.

I have to agree with this. I understand why they wanted to salvage the area in between Star Tours and SW:GE, but it feels very awkward to have a Star Wars themed attraction outside of its designated area. That being said, it’s worth mentioning that MF:SR has a Starspeeder 1000 pop up at the end when you arrive back on Batuu. I’m not saying that Disney currently has plans to relocate Star Tours, but the fact they made the attraction canon to SW:GE makes it easier for them to naturally integrate it within the land if they ever decide to do so.
