Ouch, baby
I know I'm not the only one who thinks that.....I get that she is a lot older than the clone wars, but she now is only like 8-10 years removed from Rebels? There was a spark in the character that the animators and especially Ashley Eckstein brought to the character. Dawson feels stiff and lifeless as Ahsoka. I have nothing against RD as an actress, but she just doesn't embody the Ahsoka I came to like in the animated series. It just doesn't translate for me.

Ashoka is not in the sequel trilogy timeline.
Ahsoka (the correct spelling) the TV series is set a few years after ROTJ in the Mandalorian timeframe. Ahsoka the person could very well be alive during the sequel trilogy though she would be in her early 70's. I doubt if she's a walkaround character in Galaxy's Edge she would be portrayed at that age. Then again, there's no current canon for the lifespan of Togrutas nor do we know what they look like at 70 years old. Any references for their lifespans was put into Legends when Disney took over.

Dave Filoni loves his creation. He's going to use her wherever he can.

Also to add, most don't even want them to follow the timeline and could care less.

This is good, more characters, more life, this is what GE needs.

Ahsoka's dead by Episode IX, that much we know as her voice is among the dead Jedi who speak to Rey.

The left had doesn't get to say "We need more life and characters in Galaxy's Edge" or "It should have just had an open timeline or be set in the OT era" while the right hand is complaining that every character introduced needs to follow the timeline that's been established.

Or is this just an "If Disney is going to set a timeline they need to stick to it, even if I hate it" mentality?

Ahsoka's dead by Episode IX, that much we know as her voice is among the dead Jedi who speak to Rey.
First lets start with a quote from Dave Filoni himself:

"I have to wonder with Star Wars fans," Filoni added. "They seem to watch the movies but they don't take all the lessons. They deal a lot in absolutes, which is very much a Sith thing. I remember in The Empire Strikes Back Luke speaking out through the force to Leia. Vader also does this at the end of Empire Strikes Back. There's no absoluteness that these people are dead. I mean, some of them we know are dead."

He makes a good point. What's the logic phrase? "Correlation does not imply causation?". If I invited a mixed group of people to a party, and coincidentally only females showed up, could you imply that I only invited females based on just observation alone? Probably not the best analogy, but the point is that just because we know that most of the voices we heard were from dead Jedi doesn't imply they are all dead, nor can we infer that you have to be dead in order to "project" your voice over space using the Force. Didn't Luke literally project his whole body (voice and all) to Crait in The Last Jedi?

Nothing's canon until it's canon.

Except the novelization said they were dead.

IDK if the novelizations are also considered canon, but if they are then I guess Filoni is just talking out his butt trying to find reasons to keep Ahsoka around and even be willing to retcon things to do so.

I don't disagree that she should be dead by then as it does get tiring trying to base her history around why she isn't in any of the films. Honestly, as much as I loved her in Clone Wars I would have been okay with her dying a heroic death at the end so they wouldn't have to come up with a reason why she wasn't in RotS.

Anyhoo, I suppose if you really wanted to stretch to find a reason for her to be in GE you could say she died between her appearance there and TROS. At the end of the day I guess Disney can do whatever they want to try and get people into the land. It'll at least guarantee the vloggers will be there.

Novelizations are made to help market and expand the movie. They are considered canon since they are commissioned and approved by Lucasfilm/Disney.

I thought all the novels were taken out of canonisation (is that a word) not long after Disney purchased Lucasfilm

Ashoka is not in the sequel trilogy timeline.

Galaxy's Edge time period, at least as of when it opened, is between Ep8 and Ep9.

So just because Ahsoka was "listed" as being dead in Ep9 when Rey hears their voices in the novelization doesn't means she can't be in GE. She could have died at any point after her appearance in GE and when Rey hears her voice in Ep9.

So it all still works within canon.

Also didn't they technically already break the time line with Boba and Fennec appearances last year. So I wouldn't put too fine a point on it. Its just a theme park land after all.
