The cannons is Rise of the Boredom no longer operate…they’ve gone the way of the yeti
It's even worse, because you can see the tracks.

Someone riding Everest for the first time who has never heard of "Disco Yeti" might plausibly ride that right and not know that anything is amiss. When you're on Rise of the Resistance, it's painfully obvious that the canon scene isn't working as intended.

Get those $20 LLs 🤪
It's $25 now.

I had to explain to my friend who rode for the first time that the cannons are supposed to move in and out and that's why the vehicles were acting like they were dodging air.

How hard is it to make gate opener that pushes and pulls an object in sync with ride vehicles?

I swore half the things broken at Disneyland could be fixed with a Home Depot run.

Joking aside, I kinda wonder if for safety reasons they have proximity detectors on the vehicles so if they strayed off course they wouldn't hit a wall, and those sensors were getting triggered by the cannons (being a tighter space) and it was triggering an E-Stop on the ride too much and they are running without the cannons to see if that helps a bit on the down time.

I don't think it's about not being able to make them move, but more about being off on purpose.

Like proximity sensors are new technology for Disney. Can't they just put a light beam to trigger a stop if crossed? It works on my garage door.

This is just an engineering failure…

It’s part of the deal. They try things - credit due - so they fail some too.

As far as “off course”…I believe that’s impossible with a trackless. It’s still a “track”…it’s just computerized with fail safes…

If they were gonna run into each other…they’d NEVER build one. Progress.

I'm sure if their locations are off course even a little based on the LPS, they'll stop, and that may be enough. Proximity sensors were just a guess, but could serve as a backup to the LPS if something went wrong.

That hydraulic cost $38.7 million dollars, I’ll have you know 😡

…so they obviously went to Lowes
Half the problems a lot of rides have that are persistent are due to Disney's choice to use something custom instead of off the shelf parts. The other half of the problem is under engineering structural components as is the case with the Yetti. I wonder which is the case in this instance.

I just don’t think the current WDI is particularly good at building things with “operational practicality”

…If there’s such a thing

Okay. But what about Ky'le from Tustin? Is he still working shifts at the Blue Milk stand and pulling us into his fascinating backstory?

That's all I really care about in Star Wars Land: Snack bar and gift shop and custodial CM's who pull me into their backstories.

I don't care about broken effects. Or non-functional elements. Or cancelled entertainment. I need the CM's to immerse me in their story!

It would also help if Ky'le from Tustin has some Simpsons or Tweety Bird tats on his arm. And chipped, black nail polish.
Immerse me in your story Ky'le from Tustin!

Unfortunately Ky’le was just “strategically reduced” from their position…

…it’s necessary to handle the world class IP and unprecedented demand
