Tatooine would solve both and much cheaper.

Star Wars was visual entertainment. We know the locations of Star Wars. It's not like Harry Potter where you can create a new visual of the location if we just want to ignore the movies. But we don't go around inventing Batuu out of thin air and just call it Star Wars while appropriating everything from an actual location, Tatooine, and call it Star Wars. If you want to believe this is Star Wars, go ahead. There is NO storyline.
So?

Batuu feels too much like Jedha from Rogue One. That miserable, terrible, boring movie where everything was miserable and unpleasant. What a stupid Star Wars movie that was. Easily the worst since Attack of the Clones. I'd rather watch the Phantom Menace than that stupid movie for brain dead buffoons. Why would they evoke a land in Disneyland to feel like that? Dumb.

You're completely right on this. Batuu, much like Tatooine, is not an environment we would want to go. A desert outpost full of crime and violence? That's not pleasant and does not belong in Disneyland. It's the same problems as Tatooine except unfamiliar.

Hmm... I would agree with you, however I do enjoy the black market, smugglers area. Though, I believe the “violence” of Star Wars shouldn’t be the backbone of Batuu’s storyline (which it currently is), and instead be a bustling spaceport without too much conflict between those with guns, and the guests who remain armless.

Violence and crime are celebrated in Disneyland’s most iconic attraction, and in a strand of Frointerland’s DNA. Perhaps the difference is GE contains the humor and wit to DJ Rex in the cantina, unlike Pirates where the crime and violence is palatable and honestly joyful. It makes me want to be a scoundrel!

We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

It was always going to be Harder to create SWL than Potter Land in any iteration. You either have earthly looking locations that wouldn’t excite anyone or CGI worlds that are impossible to recreate in the real world. What excites people about Star Wars are the characters and the WARS/ battles. Star Wars IP can make for great attractions. But a whole land, not so much. Not without flawless execution.

I don't mind violence, per say, but the land shouldn't show signs of it. There's not gallows with hanging nooses in Frontierland, but there can still be a good old fashioned shoot out. The signs of destruction throughout Galaxy's Edge showing remnants of battles and disaster is very different than the ruins of Adventureland caused by weather and environment.

But even in western gunfight or in Pirates of the Caribbean, the bad guys lose. The bandit gets shot, the pirates end up as skeletons. In Galaxy's Edge, the scoundrels are rewarded with riches? That's a terrible message.

Changing the name of the city doesn't change its lack of life or entertainment. That's some Six Flags level of thinking. "If we rename it, we have a brand new Coaster!" Life and entertainment were cut by Iger, not by the demands of the location.

Fictional worlds borrow and we know ol Georgie Lucas wasn't all that original. Batuu is similar to both Tatooine and Takodana, but its not a copy of either one. And since Star Wars has long existed beyond the films in comics, books, cartoons, games, etc; the owner of the IP creating a new location for further adventures is nothing new or inherently "non-Star Wars." Batuu is as Star Wars as the rest of them, whether its been in a feature film or not.

As for no story...

"During the waning years of the Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker journeyed to Batuu to search for Senator Padmé Amidala after she had been declared missing. There he had his first encounter with CommanderMitth'raw'nuruodo also known as "Thrawn." The two agreed on an alliance to find Amidala.

The two returned during the Imperial Era, as sometime after the Battle of Atollon, Emperor Sheev Palpatinesensed a disturbance in the Force that appeared to be centered on Batuu. In response, Palpatine sent his Sith apprentice, Darth Vader, who was secretly Skywalker, and Thrawn, now a Grand Admiral in the Galactic Empire's navy, to deal with the disturbance. During their investigation, the Imperials were attacked by the Darshi, a mysterious race from the Unknown Regions, and they eventually discovered the Darshi were being used by the Grysk, an enemy race of Thrawn's Chiss Ascendancy. The Grysk had been using the Darshi to build hibernation chambers for Force-sensitive Chiss children so the Grysk could use the children and their powers to navigate the treacherous spaces of the Unknown Regions, much like the Chiss themselves did." - https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Batuu

Star Wars, of all works of fiction, celebrates the scoundrel. Rey, Han, Chewie.

They’re all heros now.

I might be biased here. My droid most certainly has a smuggler’s chip. I just enjoy the black market, free from “good of evil.”

The scoundrels and smugglers of Batuu are a highlight.

But I do understand your point. The destruction can be a bit much. I have to say I didn’t give it any mind. I really did feel like I was in an extension of Frontierland ideals.

Han reforms from his scoundrel ways and Rey was never a criminal.

I just don’t think such environments belong in Disneyland.

Entertainment and everything else will change if it becomes Tatooine. There is much more potential for entertainment and exploration with Tatooine. Maybe this concept is hard for you to figure out. I can imagine walkabout Jawa and Sand People. Jawas will try to trade droids next to Sandcrawler vehicles. Guests can explore Luke's home and buy blue milk deep in their homes. Walk along the deserted canyons for see the Sand People and bump into Ben Kenobi. Interacting with the locations is absolutely part of the fun.

I read your link to the Batuu storyline. It reads like a historical drama. It's so tedious. It relates to Thrawn Alliances. Okay, we really have to read those books to figure it out. Is this the Star Wars we need at a theme park? Just stick to the movies.

Hate to break it to you, but If there aint any droids now (besides the ones rotting in the planters and behind fences [which should be crate barriers instead]), there wouldn’t be any in a tatooine land.

What the heck are you talking about? There are droids being sold in the shop. The Jawas would be doing the exact same thing, but like what you see in the movies instead of a contrived build-a-droid shop in Batuu.

But more the point, Jawas would be meet and greet characters as well.

We have a droid shop already. Building one is a lot more exciting than bartering with a cheap cast member in a cloak pretending to be a Jawa.

Because that’s all it would be.

I’m saying if there are few characters in Batuu, there would be few characters in Tatooine. The place-setting doesn’t matter.

Disney doesn’t want to pay performers. They don’t want to pay human beings to play out the stories.

Tatooine would be as barren as Batuu. If we don’t have the paid humans in Batuu, why would they be in Tatooine??

You do realize that in every description you've made of your "idealized" world, you've reduced the entirety of SW down to roughly the first half of A New Hope and nothing else??

Not to mention, Disney would probably frown on hiring child actors to play the Jawas.
