In video games you break crates to find stuff. Maybe you can use the Force to move or open them.

My friend and I, watching the animated SW series joke about it being Crate Wars since there are so many crates everywhere: smuggling, supplies, hide behind, shoot from behind, Force throw... crates! Crates everywhere!!

speaking of crates, anyone know what the deal is with the backstage extended queue of MF:SR? I remember there being QR codes on the crates to play on the disney game app. So is that area eventually supposed to be fully themed, or are those just extra crates they put backstage?

That's a big empty space where the Table Service Restaurant was supposed to go (and rumor has it, is indeed still coming). They put the shipping crates there to hide backstage (they missed a few spots). Shipping crates were the handiest thing they had. The hedges of invisibility wouldn't have cut it.

Y'all got some wild ideas. All Batuu needs is for Rise of the Resistance to open, some music, some foliage on the mountains, live entertainment, the dinner show restaurant, Star Tours transplant, an X-Wing coaster, and a Falcon walkthrough.

And droids, aliens, bounty hunters, Jedis, force magic, everyone's favorite OT characters, and apparently a ramp. It's almost complete!

What if that is the FP line and the standby line is even more detailed?

Also I have to assume FP is turned off just like at MF:SR for the foreseeable future.

Rise of the Resistance ride spoiler

You enter through the Resistance turret outside, through either the single rider, fastpass or standby lines.

Standby takes you through the tunnels and is a great queue. You end up in front of 2 doors. BB8 is there and he projects a image of Rey where she asks for your help.

Fastpass skips most of the tunnel queue line and gets you to the BB8/Rey Message.

Single Rider skips all of that and get you to the ITS shuttle.

All 3 lines ends up heading to the ITS tle in groups of about 45-50 people/ You board the shuttle and Nien Numb is your pilot. You see Poe take off in his Black/Orange XWing but the First Order show uop and Poe goes for hekp as your shuttle is captured by a Star Destroyer.

You exit the Star Destroyer in a giant hangar bay - you see 50+ FO troopers as you are escorted to detention cells. You are broken down into smaller groups and board the 8 passenger transport vehicles.

A droid helps "release" your vehicle and you are paired with a second vehicle and you have an adventure driving through the halls of the Star Destroyer.

You come upon a pair of full sized AT-AT walkers and you vehicles each take an elevator to the second floor while being shot at by FO troops.

You continue the adventure, twisting and turning and running into Kylo Ren a few times. You drive between 2 giant guns as they are firing on the Resistance in space.

Finally your cars head to escape pods and you fly back down to Batuu only to crash into a giant ship before you get out and exit back to the Resistance camp.

luke's house looks awesome. i would love to walk into it explore it. sit at the same table with blue milk. pay my respects to anakin's mom's grave. etc. tatooine would have made for much better land than batuu is or ever will be.

But Luke lived miles and miles away from Mos Eisley in the middle of nowhere. His house was so boring that he was yearning for something more. Not sure if visiting a bland moisture farm is an exciting adventure most people really want. Sure, it sounds nice in nostalgia-land, but in reality, I'd rather walk through Mickey's house than Luke's house and I have only been to Mickey's house once.

There's nothing more boring than exploring Batuu that has nothing to do with anything we've seen in any 8 released Star Wars movies. Tatooine is absolutely not boring. You talking about a world of that originated the Star Wars myths and legends. Tatooine was where everything happened including where Ben Kenobi lived in obscurity for years. Mos Eisley is exciting. Luke Skywalker's home is absolutely interesting. Of course, it won't be miles away at Star Wars Land. Mos Eisley and Luke's home will be a mere 100 feet away. There's nothing to explore at Batuu. You're not there to look at where Luke walked before. Batuu is so far away from Tatooine. Everything of consequence already happened. You're in First Order era and you're escaping from Stormtroopers. This is a nowhere storyline. Try to make the First Order and Resistence interesting. I'm waiting.

If you can't appreciate Tatooine, it's dead. Star Wars is dead.

They sure love crates in Batu.
They ran out of ideas. Hint: Try Original Trilogy. Lots of ideas there with real Star Wars. Imagine a scene where Han Solo is talking with Jabba The Hut about the next shipment and he'll pay him back. A conversation between Chewbacca and Han about fixing the Falcon or about Leia.

Instead, we see a queue line with ships they are fixing, from whatever era, and lots of crates. Boring.

Don't forget the character trying to steal your churro and CMs not talking about Katie's party.

Batu is supposed to be a bustling spaceport where good and evil do battle. It's actually a good idea. It's just seriously lacking in execution. We currently have the 1977 low budget spaceport sparsely populated by some random extras and static props. We need to upgrade to the 1997 version with more aliens, robots, speeders and things.

Yes! I also find Batuu to be a fantastic and exciting place to be, as defined by its description.

In theory, Batuu is a smashing blend between originality, that debatably Disney Parks have been lacking in, and IP.

I think Batuu is a great location for our Star Wars adventure. I just wish there was adventure.

First Order is just The Empire of the new films, they're equally interesting to me. Resistance are just the the Rebels, so no change in my interest there.

I appreciate Tatooine as a location in a film, but its not a location which makes a great theme park land. It'd be fun to race through Tatooine on a speeder bike and dart in and out of the alleys and nearby canyons, but as far as walking around and seeing the film sets recreated....its not that visually interesting.

Seeing where Luke grew up or what cave Ben was squatting in is as interesting to me as having Indiana Jones' college office or his boyhood home be a walk through space in Indiana Jones Land. I love Back to the Future, I don't want them to recreate the Twin Pines Mall parking lot or Lyon Estates housing development when building Back to the Future Land; not because I don't find it an important location, but because it wouldn't work well for a theme park setting.

Tatooine was filmed in the middle eastern desert, Tunisia, to be precise. So they substituted Tatooine for Batuu, which is a middle eastern bazaar. This is just a bad substitution that has no story overlay. So it wouldn't be hard to make the substitution back again with minor adjustments.

For Star Wars Land to not have Tatooine is like Harry Potter not having Hogsmead. It's an iconic location that can't be substituted. You might find it boring, but this doesn't make sense. That's the original story where it all took place. I would look at Tatooine in awe. It's where the hero lived and wanted to leave to go for adventure.

Back to the Future had many iconic locations. Take your pick, but people still visit Puente Hills Mall to look at the Twin Pine Mall sign that's tucked in the mall for fans. It just needs authentic locations for it to work, not a fake location of where they might have went. Lyon Estates housing development was actually filmed in a nearby condo complex in El Monte. I had a friend live in that complex before he sold it. The lion statues was a good photographic site.
