It seems very confusing story wise. why would Hondo need multiple flight crews for a ship with one cockpit and you would think Disney to help maintain the illusion would only allow the 6 crew members who will be in your cockpit to be the only ones to roam the chessboard waiting area to help maintain the illusion you are the only ones about to fly the falcon. if you are in the same room with like 3 other groups that does not make sense story wise. I get ride capacity wise why they do it but they are trying to immerse you into thinking you are the only crew flying the falcon and the falcon only has one cockpit. maybe they just did it that way for the castmember preview but for general admission it would be confussing story wise.
Can’t tell if you’re joking or not buuuttttttt THIS IS A THEME PARK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY IN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE... YOU ARE ON EARTH!

They had positive, but slightly mixed feelings about the ride. They said it's like a six-player team video game. It sounded like there was less motion than Star Tours, but that's subjective.

This is what I was worried about after seeing some of the renderings and hearing about the 38 inch height requirement. It Looking like a Video game (because that’s what it is) and it being a less thrilling experience than Star Tours. Sounds like a huge buildup to a mediocre ride. The Falcon needed to have more movement than Star Tours, a travel agency transport. They re also using brand new simulators where I thought they could have pushed the boundaries a bit so it’s disappointing to hear that there is less movement than Star Tours.

...yes, Single rider does exist....should be in Aurebesh, IMHO...

I understand this is a theme park ride first and foremost. so that is not lost on me. at all. but given how Disney said they are going for full immersion i.e. no ride entrance signs or wait times posted, no visa logos etc so why would there be a sign that reads "single rider" when we are being recruited for a flight mission? why not have it read "single pilots" or "solo flight crew"? they want us to think we are on the real falcon out front not a theme park ride correct? so why have a sign like this If there is not even a sign out front that says "MILLENIUM FALCON:SMUGGLER'S RUN"?? I think it is a fair question and not a nitpicky one given what Disney is trying to achieve via immersion for the land.

that fact is not lost on me however, Disney is going to such stakes immersion wise for the land and have done pain stakingly levels of detail to make you think you are in space on an alien world and boarding the real falcon that my question is very logical.

to be fair we are hearing this via third party of one person's opinion of the ride. it could just be that person's interpretation of the movement. not fair to make a judgement of the ride's movement until we get some on ride pov videos or more reviews of the ride experience come in. and this is me saying this, someone who so far has many nitpicks and gripes about the land based on what we have seen so far. just playing devil's advocate on this one though.

I dunno. I’m usually pretty good at reading the tea leaves when it comes to these things. I’ve had these worries for a while so hearing CMs (who have probably ridden Star Tours dozens of times) confirm them is concerning.

They may still be fine-tuning the motion levels using the CM previews as a calibration guide. We'll see soon.

Possibly but between the reports and the 38 inch height requirement it’s not looking good. I’m not even a huge fan of Star Tours. I just expected the Falcon ride to be a more thrilling version of it. I mean it’s the FALCON after all. It sounds like everything amazing about this ride is really the Queue and the Falcon parked outside which is kind of what I expected. And I guess the whole interactive video game thing if you re into that. We’ll see.

you make a good point, I still would like to see a ride pov video before I can make a judgement about the movement. if what this cast member is saying is true and more reviews come in citing the same thing, then it is a big missed opportunity. on this topic I will reserve judgement until I can see or read more. but I get where you are coming from

I might be going in July. I am not sure if I need a reservation?
No, reservations are only needed from May 31st through June 23rd. When it opens up to everyone, it will use a virtual queue system (obtained via the Disneyland App) to limit the amount of guests in the land.

Yes, but nobody actually thinks they’re in a different galaxy when at Galaxy’s Edge; they’re at Disneyland. There are certain physical limitations to how immersive you can make an environment and I think you know that. Disney says you are going to FEEL like you are in Star Wars... not actually in it. The fact that almost everything has been thought out regarding making transitions in and out of rides seem real goes to show you that they doing the best in every way they can control.

Also, does anyone have an update on Rise of the Resistance? Could that be a June 24th kinda thing? :hungry:

I get that but my point is based on the story they have set up for the ride, it makes nooo sense to have more than one flight crew roaming the ship since only one flight crew is needed to fly the thing. it's a minor gripe but it is warranted and legitimate if they do this for opening day.

You say that it being a park ride on Earth is not lost on you, but you then proceed to make it seem that way. You keep bringing up the promises of immersion and then expect all-out 100% immersion... as if it being a park ride on Earth is lost on you.

There is no amount of immersion that will ever be 100% wherein a guest couldn't ""nitpick"" or wind up playing ""devil's advocate"" by finding something that is not of the fictional world we are purported to be in.

We can all see where this is going, just like your deluge of posts trying to make a point about how only the theatrical films are really canon and you just won't let it go. You're about to embark on the same spam of "where's the immersion we were promised"? All based on leaked info from a few people from a park and ride not fully finished.

I'm not saying we can't be critical if there are obvious mistakes or missed opportunities, but, that's not what you're doing here. You found a new schtick with which to be argumentative. Cut it out.

Again, there are certain limitations of telling a story within a theme park. It doesn’t make sense to why’d you see hundreds of other people lining up to fly a ship with only 6 seats. Or that there EXIT signs in the Millenium Falcon. It’s a visual illusion we choose to believe in, as you have to overlook certain aspects that are unavoidable.

Not sure, but very likely as it won’t be a reservation slot, but more like a normal queue of people translated to a digital queue. So when 50 guests leave the land, 50 more will be able to enter. Not that exactly, but a similar concept.

Interesting lighting tests going on tonight:

And this is why cast members can’t have nice things. 😬

They said they were only told no pictures/videos. They described some things that were more detailed that I left out. I thought what I shared was fairly benign. If I did a summary of my takeaway it would be:
  • What they saw of the land is very impressive.
  • The queue is on par with Pandora, but may have details to be added farther in.
  • They liked the ride, but it's based on game console technology which is reflected in the visuals and there are trade-offs in how much control you have versus when the program steps in, but they thought it was very enjoyable.
I don't believe anything I have shared is detrimental to guests approaching this land and this attraction with anticipation and a sense of wonder. I'm not a professional journalist and I don't feel that I'm acting under a formal press embargo. And I don't feel I'm sharing proprietary information and in fact, I believe what I have shared is in line with what we have heard and have been discussing for months. Thousands of CMs are going to experience this attraction before May 31.

My source only shared a few details of the story line of their mission and I didn't share what little they told me. I deliberately didn't elaborate on specific operational details they told me about working the different stations.

I'm excited to see SW:GE in a couple of weeks and fly the Falcon for myself.

Its not schtick. It is valid logical complaint based on the story disney has set up. I am allowed to critique all i want. You are no one of authority to tell someome to "cut it out". My opinions are just as valid as yours. If you don't care to read them then by all means place me on ignore but to me the ignore button is for people who can't accept a differing point of view that goes against their own. Which indicates closed mindedness. I am free to express my concerns as freely as you are. I dont wish you harm nor do i wish to have an argument. I just wanted to share with the group another way to look at things. I will wish you a good night because i am done addressing your attempts to belittle me.
