So Mr. Jim Hill reported that Ops is committing to the Big Thunder entrance being the only entrance to SW:GE for the opening summer. Jim also made a few errors in the same podcast, so, salt, yada to the power of 3, etc.

Rather than the validity of Jim's info, let's discuss the topic. If they did do this for days with maximum crowds, I propose blocking off all non-SW traffic from the Big Thunder Trail area. Use the entire area for queue and put stroller parking near the Fantasyland exit (for convenient dropping-off and picking-up. Thoughts?

I think so as well. With the caveat that I expect the rope drop bolus of people to be sent through either exit depending on the attraction they want. They’ll cut off the back of the rope drop crowds to start sending people into the middle entrance. They did a similar thing with Pandora. It makes far more sense to split the two rope drop crowds and essentially put them as far away from each other as possible.

But interestingly - you don’t think they’ll allow strollers in the land at all? Wouldn’t that be refreshing. Does Diagon Alley allow strollers?

When and if things are real bad I expect three stachions of FP like terminals giving return times allowing people to actually then queue at Big Thunder trail. Universal did something similar with Potter. But Big Thunder trail can accommodate a reasonable amount of people as you highlight (plus the fact the land will be at capacity)... that will be a lot of people removed from current Disneyland.

It will be interesting to see. I suspect the outside entrances could be exit-only except for the extended standby lines--West for Alcatraz and East for Big Bird. This would allow extended queue to go through NOS/Adventureland and Frontierland all the way out to the hub and down Main St. if necessary. Fastpass issue and return could go through the center entrance path, along with general entry for lookieloos, diners, shoppers, etc.

But this is just my surmise--it's not based on any real metrics. Disney's Industrial Engineering Department will have the largest say in the matter.

Will they move the smoking area from over there or will everyone get gassed by second hand smoke?

Wow. I've been staring at that image for a few minutes, and it just seems like a total nightmare for the park and the CM's who have to manage it. Yuck.

Agreed, if this diagram for the queue is accurate, they might have to add more switchbacks cause I bet the line will cut through most of Frontierland.

Agreed. But at least they have the space to do it at Disneyland, and a giant theme park with the most ride capacity to handle the overflow. In DHS they are going to be much worse off and will have to do more in front of the park to prevent people from getting into the park to begin with.

Haven't been to Disneyland in a few years -- can't you just cut through from Frontierland via the Zacolo resteraunt (forgive me if the name is wrong) to the Tangled courtyard? And why haven't they renamed or re-themed that place to Zorro? Too obscure?

Epcot is only a boat ride away, or if someone's feeling like getting a workout a 20 minute walk ;)

See, this is what happens when you trade in the that Mad Men avatar for one with a big 80’s mobile phone.

I switched my avatar because I actually had one of those giant phones around 1991-1994, when I was still in corporate life and living on the East Coast. That phone in my avatar is definitely from the early 1990's.

But maybe that avatar cuts a little too close to home and I should go back to being Roger Sterling?
