I won't called it a straight up bomb because it's going to make more than its budget and marketing costs once it leaves theaters. I call it probably in the $400-500 Million range.

Nope. Disney only gets about half of the worldwide gross, which means the movie would have to make around $700-$800 million just to break even ($300 production budget + marketing).

This is a Justice League sized disappointment for Disney. Worse because it's the first major Star Wars movie to lose money.

It's definitely going to lose the studio some money at this point, but I don't think it will win Deadline's top 5 contest by any means... probably a Wrinkle in Time will lose the studio more money.

However Star Wars losing the studio money is a kick in the pants, obviously. There are likely some home video dollars hanging out here long term when the fanbois come around a decade later and decide they love this movie. No one is going to buy a Wrinkle in time on 3D Greenbrainray in 10 years, but people will buy Solo.

I was so disappointed in Wrinkle in time, i remember reading the book out of surioisty and was so let down by the movie. It wasn't a terrible movie but there was so much more that could have been done. It kind of had the feeling of the the Alice sequel and felt to similar and i have to admit that I was one of those people that didn't think the Alice sequel was as bad as it was made out to be.

As for Solo i actually enjoyed it quite a bit and it is a shame that people didn't give it a chance. I'm sure many are not seeing it because of what they read and heard in regards to the backstage mess.

The week long articles of SOLO is Flopping from the media didn't help the second week numbers as well even though the cinemascore of those actually seeing it is pretty good.

Lol it’s just crazy to me that they re selling those in Town Square with the Mickey balloons. It’s like a picture representing every Disney park fans worst fear when Disney purchased Lucasfilm.

Because it's the Magic Kingdom and you should only have references to the MK IPs, like balloons for the Mad Hatter and a Tiki God.

I mean ya, kind of, at least on Main Street/ Town Square. Never seen any tiki God balloons on Main Street? I could deal with them in Tomorrowland, outside of Star Trader or something but Town Square?

those balloons bother me because they are not round, i wonder who is being cheap on the helium.

You are right though, they should really just sell those in tomorrowland.

The moment Star Wars balloons are taken out of Main St.

Kid: Mommy/Daddy I want a Star Wars balloon.
Dad: But those are all the way in TomorrowLand and we're on Main St waiting for the fireworks. I'm not going to fight the crowds to get a balloon. What about the light up one?
Kid: NO! I WANT THE STAR WARS BALLOON.
Dad: We'll get it later after the fireworks. (grumbles *Why I have to fight crowds to get a simple balloon, they should sell them here*)

Takes trip to City Hall to complain that they can't get Star Wars balloons on Main St while waiting for the fireworks. Disney puts Star Wars balloons back.

Lol yes every young child in 2018 dreams of having a Death Star balloon from the movie they ve never seen from 1977. Disney is selling those balloons to teens and adults. Anyway, back to the point, a bundle of Mickey and Death Star balloons just looks really out of place in Town Square. A chewy face balloon or light up Yoda balloon and I probably wouldn’t have looked twice.
