This conversation about land usage has me curious. People have talked about how SWL is a shift away from the design philosophy of DL due to its size. But from these aerials it’s clear much of the size is taken up by the massive show buildings.

Is there anyone here who has nifty Google Earth skills or something that can map out how much guest-accessible/non-attraction space is in this land, and how it compares to the rest of DL’s lands?

Until an insider releases a map of all the buildings showing what their size will be, or, someone took a picture of the giant model from directly above... what you're asking for won't be possible.

DHS has the advantage of Bioreconstruct and Blog Mickey with their aerial footage.
We have She'sInLosAngeles and Yensid55 videos from the ground (and parking structure).

Combined, we are really having a unique look at SWL's construction. SILA posts multiple videos weekly, so stick around and you'll see much more :)
I know. I live pretty close to DHS but I check this thread to see what will come down the road. DLR will be like the world of Pandora with the transition to SWGE which will be cool and has a better lead up. I will have to see how things progress at DHS with the Muppets/ Grand Avenue transition. It will be a fun Land once completed.

Haha. For me, its a toss up.
I love seeing the aerial looks from Florida, but I also love Yensid55's knowledge of what we're actually looking at and all his more recent comparisons to the SWL model. Combined with SILA's frequency and multiple vantage points...

I'm just glad we have anything!
The videos and aerial photos are great on both coast. Plus there are people who can photoshop things into their proper place during construction. I’ve driven past the DHS site many times and it’s massive. AvatarLand is awesome and they are going to top it.

Do you have a British accent? I automatically read your posts with a British accent in my head.

Sadly, no. My accent is West Coast American, with mid-to-late 20th century vocabulary. I'm almost entirely Scandinavian genetically, with just a touch of Scottish and Dutch according to my 23andme profile. And I couldn't pull off a British accent if I tried.

Maybe it would be easier if you thought of me speaking in a Thurston Howell III accent? I could pull that accent off, especially during the cocktail hour.

So you sound like this?

My imaginary caricature of you is complete!

Glad to be of service! I'm going to practice my accent this evening, and I'm now looking forward to it.

In other YouTube news, I find it fascinating that they haven't put a curtain over those wood plank fences in Frontierland that lead to Star Wars Land. The latest video from our lady blogger that @Hatbox Ghostbuster just linked is a perfect example. WDI must know that folks are getting a decent view inside with today's modern cameras through those tiny gaps in the fence. How long will they allow that to continue?

Good point.
Although, I wonder how concerned they are at this stage of the build where people can really only see steel supports. Maybe once more detail goes into the construction they'll block it up to keep things "secret".

That's pretty much what I've been thinking this whole time. The only significant difference between the 2 SW Lands is that WDW's will be hot and sticky and DL's will have way too many annoying locals living there.
(EDIT) Also, DL's will have feral cats.

I imagine you as Tim Gunn.

@TP2000 you're really grasping for straws now.

Your statements go against all evidence, logic, and information. You can't look at those photo comparisons with a functioning pair of eyes and conclude that there's less "elbow room" in front of either attraction in DHS. Plus, if the Imagineers needed more room in front of Big Bird, they would be building TSL less egregiously large. If they needed more room in front of Alcatraz, they would be building that berm further back. If they needed more room next to Muppetvision, they would've shifted the entire thing over... over onto the space you claimed didn't exist, and I had to literally draw out for you. The fact that you said the land is "hemmed in rather tightly by World Drive" demonstrates your complete inability to analyze an aerial photo.

But please do keep digging your own grave. I thoroughly enjoy proving you wrong, especially on such an important topic. Apologies to the rest of you, as always.

You're a bad egg...
