I really respect the new SWL for how detailed it is, but it has no soul. Im sure the A ticket will make it feel more complete, but we found the entire experience to be very flat. The ride is incredibly meh, even as a D ticket. The best part is the holding area before the ride.

I was very happy to see how separated it felt from the rest of DL, as I was really concerned about them cramming it into the castle park, but it can pretty easily be ignored (which sadly we did after doing one ride and walking around a bit).

It is just missing something. Im sure I would have felt more attachment if it was the original trilogy, but I'm not an Avatar fan, and I love Pandora.

Another review that also doesn’t mention the missing element... Jedi.

Because the land is so hewed to canon, it's set between 8 & 9. It's narrative-locked. Gonna have to ditch that down the road. I get a kind of LightMagic vibe with all this talk about interactivity, and bring in everyone's favorite characters. Seriously, no one outside of those who watched the few episodes of The Clone Wars featuring Hondo even knows who Hondo is. I'd start looking for ideas for an expansion attraction with the PT and OT characters, and sooner rather than later. Yeah, yeah, I know -- Star Tours already exists. Well, mothball that sucker when you're finished figuring out a way to bring to all the characters into Galaxy's Edge. In the film business, we'd call this a "page one re-write".

The review talks about the timeline issue. It’s clear from The Last Jedi that they killed almost every major character so canon means the barren wasteland is Star Wars Batuu.

That’s what I don’t get with keeping these slavish continuity rules in place that no one cares about. It’s too self-limiting. Also, by all accounts Ep 9 is (SPOILER) intended to conclude the story arcs of Rey and Kylo Ren. So, by setting an entire land before Ep 9, won't the land be thematically obsolete by the time it’s fully up and running?

Put another way, no one is upset in the parks when they see Beast (he turned to human form at the end of the movie), Jafar (he’s stuck in a lamp), Boba Fett (slowly digesting at the bottom of the Sarlacc), Darth Vader (ashes on Endor), Ariel (still a mermaid? Not at the end of the movie she isn’t!), Gaston (dead), Evil Queen (dead), and so many others.

WDI needs to sacrifice non-existent immersion and restrictive devotion to an arbitrary point in the narrative in service to providing entertainment to its guests.

There you go. Like LightMagic, take your lumps, back to the storyboard.

Yeah! I mean, what was Disney thinking when they had Captain Rex on Star Tours??? Nobody knows who that is! He wasn't in the movies! That's why Star Tours failed for so long. Thank God they finally replaced with C-3PO! I think we can all agree that 3PO works better because he's a thing from a movie. 😐

Nobody associates a character with the Starspeeder 3000. Guests already associate Han to the Falcon before going on the ride.

The difference is 1. REX is very likable and loveable from the start 2. Hondo is boring with a horrible accent 3. REX is not known for being connected to the MILLENIUM FALCON, THE MOST FAMOUS SHIP IN STAR WARS CANNON WITH THE MOST FAMOUS PILOT IN STAR WARS CANNON HAN SOLO. If they put him with the falcon instead of Hondo it would still make no sense and people would hate it equally. but a star speeder ship from STAR TOURS, a prev unknown vehicle in the universe until the ride debut, yeah REX can fly that. who cares about that ship? but if you make a MILLENIUM FALCON RIDE,we want HAN not HONDO
