Rise of the Resistance won't fix everything that people have been disappointed by, but it'll help a lot. This ride is special.
What are you basing your opinion the ROTR is special on? (This is not meant as an argument it's not, just that I haven't experienced it yet, nor have many on here.)

I just got back from a great trip to Disneyland this past week and finally got to experience GE. For some background, I like the original trilogy and have enjoyed parts of the new one. I'm not a big enough fan to build a droid or light saber. My wife on the other hand, hasn't seen any of the movies but is familiar with some of the main characters.

We had the chance to go through the land twice. Unfortunately, we did not get on the ride or go to the crowded cantina. Overall, the land misses the mark which is too bad because it has so much potential. I think the rock work is stunning as well as the view of the MF. The bazaar or whatever you call it has great theming too. The land felt jarring vs. the rest of the park due to its massive scale. Maybe if it had been based off a few different planets and built smaller it could have been better. It felt like I was in a desert the whole time and it wasn't that enjoyable, especially after visiting New Orleans Square or Adventureland.

I didn't like how there's no music besides the entrance tunnels because the movie soundtrack is one of the best ever made. The sound effects come off as cheesy and don't accomplish anything to create a more immersive environment. The animal noises when you walk through the Resistance area didn't feel very Star Wars to me and that part of the land is a complete dead zone besides that. That area should be repurposed for something not related to Star Wars because it's a waste of valuable real estate.

It's been said many times, but the land needs more characters to walk around and interact with guests. I only saw Chewie and Boba Fett was over in Tomorrowland. No storm troopers were to be found. Droids moving around would add a lot to the experience and provide much needed energy. I wish characters from the original trilogy were in the land and my wife mentioned she wanted to see Darth Vader. Sorry honey, hope you like Kylo Ren. She also didn't care for the land and the theming.

I think Disney can improve GE, but I don't know how much they're willing to spend. Others have mentioned Pandora, which I think is a much better land and I don't even like Avatar. I'm curious if the land will improve with ROTR, but adding a ride won't fix the existing mistakes.

On a side note, I was pleasantly surprised by Hyperspace Mountain. I prefer the original version, but thought it was a fun overlay.

I really don’t think there’s any reason to debate it anymore - Galaxy’s Edge is a dud. Disney knows it. The guests know it. It needs fixing. To what extent is debatable, but clearly what’s there isn’t working.
Exactly! This thread has been going back and forth since June! Find something new to talk about

I’ll have my full thoughts soon... but this is a problem of mismanaged expectations in part, the missing headliner and cut entertainment.

Thanks to you lot my expectations bottomed out before I went... maybe I’m easily impressed?

Even I was surprised that I really liked it in spite of it all. The actual issues are easily fixed and it’s a very impressive land

I went to the grocery store last night, and my trip was a real dud. I only went to the vegetable aisle, and then checked out. Somehow, there was no meat and no milk! This store is a failure.

But did your experience in the vegetable aisle encourage you to return? If all all the veggies looked just so so and I was paying Whole Foods prices I would have walked out too.

I’m willing to take this analogy as far you want :p

had a little tour of it earlier this year.
You have no idea how glad I am to hear that, as opposed to your opinion being based solely on concept art and second-hand info. Thank you for sharing. I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed that the reliability problems can be fixed in the coming months.

I guess if I built a droid I would have loved it! Sorry to hear about your store.
I don't think you should have to pay extra to enjoy the land. This is going to come across as overly harsh, but I don't understand how you can fairly critique the land without even riding the one attraction that is open that you don't have to pay for. You didn't fly the Falcon, visit the cantina, build a lightsaber, or build a droid, and you didn't critique the food or the milk or the merchandise, so I assume you didn't pay for any of that either. That's okay -- you shouldn't have to do things that you don't want to do. And there are problems with SWGE and you listed some of them, but I don't think you have sufficient grounds to assign an overall rating when you skipped 90% of what is there.

I critiqued what I saw in the land during my walkthroughs vs. the attraction or other experiences. Trust me, I would have done the ride if I had time. Even if I loved piloting the MF, it wouldn't mean I'd like the land's current state. Star Wars merchandise doesn't interest me, but I don't hold that as a negative against the land. I would've tried the food, but I just ate prior to going to GE. You can walk through any land and still take it in. I can walk down Main Street USA or sit on a bench and enjoy the hell out of it. I don't stop in every shop in World Showcase, but still have a nice time because it's a great environment. I didn't feel GE was on par with some of the other lands, but improvements can easily be made. You don't have to like my opinion, that's fine. Everyone enjoys the parks in their own way.

FYI Canadian friends, one needs a passport to be served.

I guess it feels good to be denied service at 32!

And the bar tenders were reasonably nice about it, even if I was a bit argumentative.
As a fellow 32 year old Canadian I'll have to keep this in mind! If I read correctly they accept Nexus passes as well?

Glad to hear you enjoyed the land as well, I'll be at DHS in late October to check it out and am doing my best to be open minded and tempering expectations.

So I’m back in town for the expo and Star Wars land did grow on me slightly. Maybe cause I had lower expectations now? I think I heard more music, but maybe that was just the lack of crowds. Saw a few more details in the shops and such... it’s really a shame, a few droids and actors would add so much.

Sort of like drinking Blue Milk. It’s a fruit slush with strong floral taste, not actual milk.
