Eh, I don't know. Personally you aren't going to get me to pay close to that to stay in a 100 sqft room where all there is to do is leave the hotel or go to a bar.It doesn't have to be staffed with hundreds of staff. Just a Star Wars themed hotel. They are 90% of the way there already. Just make it a novelty stay for people...um sure there would be enough people paying $250 a night to stay in a Star Wars Hotel with park benefits. It doesn't need to have actors, just a themed restaurant area (which they already have) and themed rooms/foyers/lounges...which they already have.
Not sure how a unique to the entire world, live in theater, state of the art themed immersive acting/living/dining etc experience isn't "grand". I mean you literally drive up to to a terminal and spend the next two nights living in another world. What did you see? What did you feel? What did you hear? What did you eat? What did you think about after? What would you think about anything Disney parks from a YouTube video if you had never been? Would you actually want to do any of it? My daughter and I know mermaids are not swimming in the pool at the Grand Floridian and yet we love it. However, we don't pretend mermaids are swimming in quiet pool, but we actually are still pretty convinced when we pull up at Starcruiser terminal for the second time this summer that we'll be in space for close to 48 hours. The Vegas Star Trek Experience was really beautifully done... Large scale and beautiful... It included a themed casino and even restrooms that were themed. It was a much more beautiful interior than anything I saw of the Galactic Starcruiser...the scale was grand...which the starcruiser should have been...

Cost wise? $200-$250 at this point I think? And 277 square feet in size.Out of interest, how much is say, Art of Animation on average?
So, going by that, I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if the Starcruiser couldn't sell well for the same price.Cost wise? $200-$250 at this point I think? And 277 square feet in size.
You’re not considering the lack of restaurants, lack of views, lack of pool, as a factor? So, going by that, I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if the Starcruiser couldn't sell well for the same price.
I wouldn't. You are talking about staying in a beyond tiny room with none of the amenities of a normal resort/hotel.So, going by that, I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if the Starcruiser couldn't sell well for the same price.
The Endless Summer/Dockside leave a lot to desire. Paper thin walls and nothing really by way of views but if that doesn't bother you then they can be a good value. The new hotels they are building for Epic Universe are themed after the Moon and the Sun...which should be interesting... The buildings thus far look interesting...And they usually do a great job on their hotels...
Giving it just one thing it needs out of dozens to be a good hotel would not change anything except detract from what it was ACTUALLY trying to be. It would have just taken away from what it was really working to do.All the people who mocked posters for saying this resort didn't have a pool and should have aren't laughing now, are they?
I think everyone would admit that Endless Summer and Dockside are the absolute lowest tier...much like the All Star Resorts. More of a Motel then a Resort Hotel ... That said, Cabana Bay is really well done and a beautiful property...and that was their value hotel before the "Bottom Of The Barrel" was built... When I mentioned the nice Universal Hotels I was definitely not referring to their newer budget properties...but their theme hotels...The Endless Summer/Dockside leave a lot to desire. Paper thin walls and nothing really by way of views but if that doesn't bother you then they can be a good value.
No, we would have said Disney knows how to build a resort hotel. If they had built this with a pool, larger rooms, and other amenities people would have said that "Disney knows this is going to fail and are already planning to turn it into a regular hotel".

I'm still not convinced that they couldn't sell out their rooms at $200 a night as a Star Wars Themed hotel. Just needs a bit of thought gone into what themed extras they could have. Even silly things like staff dressed up as charactors...themed food/drinks etc.
What else are they going to do...demolish it? Well that would be a waste of money.
There is an established history of doubling down on unsuccessful projects then abandoning the site to rot or be demolished rather than attempt repurpose / reuse or salvage into something else. The suits just write off and continue on.I'm still not convinced that they couldn't sell out their rooms at $200 a night as a Star Wars Themed hotel. I'm sure they could make a pool area outside that is also themed. I'm not sure of the area, but is there room right next to the Starcruiser that could be made into a pool area?If they had built it with an indoor pool looking like a glass pod floating in space with a pool, water features, a bar and cabanas all within a dome with portals into outer space, everyone would have been blown away by it... Build an additional wing of larger resort rooms and suites...and then with a few more amenities, they would have a great boutique resort hotel to sell...
