It does look like hydroseeding. If it is, that would mean they don't plan to actually start construction for a while. Maybe they are waiting for the land to settle for a bit.

Agreed. Also bolstered by the fact that they also seeded the prior path of the conveyor. Either they are waiting or perhaps plans and building layouts have changed?

OK, so I had to look it up and found it’s used to stop erosion on the site, prior to starting building. It doesn’t say what the timescales are between seeding and beginning construction though. Anyone here know?

What we need now is the Hydroseeding equivalent of @liftblog to make him/herself known! :D

The timescale would be based on how fast they think the soil will wash away if they didn't do it. If I had to guess, I would say we are looking at least a few months before they would start.

Erosion resistance. Helps the ground stabilize as well. My guess is this has a fiber matrix additive, as that is also pretty common when prepping a site. Minimum of 4-6 weeks without disturbance is standard.

I hope they offer some sort of behind the scenes tour for this resort. Even if I can't afford to stay there, I'd love to walk through and learn the ins and outs of the facility and how they pull off some of the magic.
Yea, its a shame so many star wars fans won't get to experience it. But I think you are on the right track. If Disney can find a way to make more money off of something, you bet they will. Unfortunately, If they do tours or whatever, I'm fairly confident I'll be priced out of that too. I will bet they restrict access like they do certain pools as otherwise it will be mayhem with all the people wanting to see it. So I'm gearing myself up for only getting to see it in youtube videos.

There may very well be a little ‘visitor’s center’ like a DVC stand, but with information about the hotel and the whole experience for any who wander over to it, but I can’t imagine they will allow any wandering around the actual ‘ship’. The whole thing is a special attraction. The closest to a 5th Park WDW is going to get.

The only way I see people being allowed to "explore" is if the resort isn't making its occupancy numbers. But I don't see that being a problem just on the trend that guests will spend whatever amount of money Disney throws at them. So if the cheap rooms are $900 a night, people will spend it.

Thought I’d post this, as I honestly can’t remember if this particular discussion point had been confirmed.

In the latest edition of Disney Files, the DVC Members’ magazine, it seems to confirm that the new resort will be linked to the park.

The link is below, but in case it doesn’t work for non-members, I have copied the relevant text too. See page 21 (Buzzworthy) if you link successfully.

In Florida, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will eventually connect to a ground-breaking Star Wars-themed Hotel (opening date for the hotel has not been announced). Unlike anything that exists today, the new luxury resort will welcome guests aboard a starship for a multi day Star Wars Adventure, with guests becoming active citizens of the galaxy and resort windows offering spectacular views into space.
