Thought I’d post this, as I honestly can’t remember if this particular discussion point had been confirmed.

In the latest edition of Disney Files, the DVC Members’ magazine, it seems to confirm that the new resort will be linked to the park.

The link is below, but in case it doesn’t work for non-members, I have copied the relevant text too. See page 21 (Buzzworthy) if you link successfully.

In Florida, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will eventually connect to a ground-breaking Star Wars-themed Hotel (opening date for the hotel has not been announced). Unlike anything that exists today, the new luxury resort will welcome guests aboard a starship for a multi day Star Wars Adventure, with guests becoming active citizens of the galaxy and resort windows offering spectacular views into space.

"Seamlessly integrated" and "connected" are synonyms for "bus shuttle."

...or walking path to the front gate;)

If they don’t have a direct gate into the park then that’s an epic fail IMHO. I think it will get done.
I have to believe it will be some sort of “shuttle” down to Galaxies edge...
How immersive would the illusion of being on a spaceship orbiting a planet be if you walked out to Galaxies Edge, on the surface of a planet...

Ideally: traveling star tours motion simulators that actually move from the hotel into the park...

Fixed that for you!

An indoor walkway with the same “fake” windows looking out into space as the hotel would do the trick. As you walk down the hallway you are still on the ship. At the end of the hallway (once you are inside Galaxy’s Edge) they could just have some sort of “hydrolator” like effect where you descend to the planet surface.

I think if it’s a walkway it would need to be covered with no real windows since you would be crossing through a backstage area. A bus would also work and be cheaper but seems like it would be less immersive.

I believe it was hinted that it would be a back entrance. In the pic below, the path of the shuttle is in red, and the red circle would be its parking spot. From there, guests walk in a CM gate.

Would be seriously disappointed is honestly what they are doing...

If building an IP specific resort right next to the land designated for the IP, or would be incredibly shortsighted to not provide a more interesting “entrance”, particularly when the guys across town have their own special entrance conveyance.

Who are the guys across town?

It looks further on this picture than I thought. It would be unlikely they build an indoor walkway that long. A bus probably is the only practical solution and is still better than going to the front gate.

In this picture I assume the circular cleared area at the top is SW Resort so if they went from the closest area straight to the land it would be doable have a covered walkway, maybe a moving one.

If they wanted to go all in they could build a people mover type system riding round trip. Using cars like this made to look like shuttle craft. The only problem is they would need to elevate the tracks to cross a road which would add significantly to the cost.

Universal with the HE... I know it’s not exactly loved, but it still is a cool concept.

Disney should have something better for the most successful film franchise of all time, at least better than a shuttle bus...
Gotcha. I thought you meant from a themed hotel. I did always think Universal should have figured out a way to incorporate a Potter hotel into their new land. Maybe gate 3:)

That’s park to park though.

But I agree with you, Disney should be able to do something better than just a covered walkway.

Would be great to see them adopt some kind of prt system

Heathrow's system has elevated tracks

Elevated tracks are definitely doable but just add a lot to the cost. Ground level would be cheap. I think if they actually did that it would pay for itself. Imagine driving into the parking lot at DHS and seeing a “shuttle craft” on the track over your car heading to the private entrance to SW Land. People would be lining up to sign up for the resort.

I still hold onto the concept that you won't have freedom of movement to/from the park... so having a 'self-service' pathway is kind of pointless.

But they could cave...
My gut says people will demand this. Why build it right next to Galaxy’s Edge but not incorporate the land and the resort? People are going to want it. If they stick to a plan of not having a back door entrance it will be difficult or impossible to add it later. I would hope that decision is already made.
