Of course they aren't. I'll never believe the original plans weren't for a rail transport. It would be an almost straight shot.

The trucks do allow for redundancy that a ride system would lack.

Installing an elaborate rail system for a hotel which nobody knows will succeed is a ridiculous gamble of money. Make trucks now which can be repurposed later if needed, and if in two years people still give a hoot then circle back to the idea of an upgrade with a themed rail ride to and from Batuu. You know disney would then hype that up as Starcruiser 2.0, now with enhanced excursions to Batuu!

If you want immersion and insist on going to Batuu, then how about this: Go for 2 hours after the park closes or close SWGE slightly earlier on those days. Bring in a couple of the park SW actors, let the rich folks make their lightsabers or droids, have the run of Ooga's cantina and ride Rise 10 times if they choose. Give cruisers some truly exclusive content and keep it in-universe. Minimal staff but a personalized experience. You don't need that many people to run a few shops for two extra hours.

That's what I would want to pay for on this type of experience, not to spend 8 of my 48 hours (actually 8 of about 32 waking hours at best) with sweaty tourists in an area I am seeing anyway on the rest of my Disney vacation.

The obvious correlation is the potter lands here…

but the robes and wands there don’t come off as a silly upsell. They are of course…it just is way more fan intriguing.

Not saying I agree. But if you're a SW hotel guest paying that kind of money odds aren't you won't mind going to ShopDisney to pay for these "exclusive" costumes. What's a few hundred more bucks?

Give it time... the exclusive costumes will likely find their way onto online stores (Ebay used clothing) or even thrift stores. Our family loves to shop thrift stores for Disney shirts to add to our collection.

They will because you can decorate a truck anyway you want but it still moves like a truck. Makes stops like a truck. Will make the sounds of a truck.

We can understand the interior would be decorated regardless but the thought of paying thousands of dollars and you get transported in a truck? Seriously? Just decorate a bus with the extension on it that seats more people. At least you'll be in a vehicle meant for transporting people. Guests aren't idiots. They know they're in a themed vehicle pretending to be a space transport.

I know there will be ppl dishing out that kid of money, but you can make those robe type of garments when the patterns come out....

Everyone crazy enough to have a booking likely already has a Star Wars section in their closet (🙋‍♀️). And I'm sure they'd rather be naked than look like everyone else with "off the rack" garb from the gift shop. As someone else said, this is likely for unfortunate +1s.

I think the costumes on shopdisney look pretty good, but I'm afraid the lobby of the place will wind up looking like this since everyone will have one of 5 different costumes.

Yeah…probably…but this doesn’t really take the “odor” out of the place as it stands

and they look stupid…which is something we can say now cause they put them on the internet before the dyes in the factory in Shanghai even had time to set.

Someone find me a knockoff version of the lightsaber training shirt, that looks comfy.

But then I still occasionally rock the long-sleeve shirt under short-sleeve shirt look and I'm probably well past that point in my life 😆

You can decorate a warehouse all you want, Walt, and it's just a giant industrial warehouse. No way, Walt, will your guests get a sense they're in an intimate gothic mansion or in an open graveyard. It's just a box, Walt!! It will always feel like some giant, lifeless, commercial warehouse!!!! If you want a haunted mansion, you have to actually build a mansion and not just have some loops of chain drag some sort of seats through flimsy partitions. Guests will know they're just being dragged along through fake hallways!!!! And it has to go outside through an actual fully built graveyard. No one will believe a graveyard scene in some sort of... box!!!! You're just some sort of money-pinching cheapskate who doesn't care about theming by putting so many rides in a box!!!!!!1!1

You mean to tell me Walt didn't execute people inside the mansion so that their ghosts would haunt it???

Everything that holds a cargo of humans, animals, or goods is a box of some sort.
A car, a spaceship, a storage container, a ride simulator, a house etc...
That's not the argument.
it's what is done with that vessel - that starting point - that matters.
You can't equate the ride system of Smugglers Run, with the transport of a box truck just because they are both boxes of a sort.
