So do the people who cosplay in the Starcruiser have to changed before going into the park?

This is nothing you don't know but I find it interesting.

It's part of the weird conundrum of building something like this.

Disney makes it small and limits capacity and thus sells it at an extreme premium.

Because of the pricing, people's expectations go through the roof as well they should. Someone says "For $5k plus I expect..."

The problem is, all the good stuff Disney makes as it pertains to attractions is paid for by the financial support of the millions of people who visit.

Due to the limited number of people who can experience this (by design) it limits the potential for the money Disney can make even with ultra high pricing and thus limits the amount they're likely to spend which at the end of the day, isn't the problem of the guest spending $5k plus for less than two complete days but directly impacts their experience.

So you have people saying an on-rails pod should be provided and comparisons are made to the Potter "train" down the road which, as guests, is fair since people pay less than $200 and get that experience but for reasons that are entirely of Disney's own creation, it's not realistic from a business perspective because of how they've set out to do all of this... which again, shouldn't matter to the $5k plus guests who are still paying through the nose but who will (likely) get a lesser experience because of it.

For this to succeed, they can't skim money like it's a cupcake party which is what modern Disney's used to when it comes to their version of "premium".

I don’t know how anyone could justify spending tens of millions of dollars on a train that moves, at most, a couple hundred people about a block… especially when they’ll get a nearly identical experience in a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of trucks.

I think the people saying they’ll know they’re in a truck are ignoring the fact it’s only going about a block and it’s all backstage on controlled roads, this things probably going to be moving at 5mph or less the entire time. It’s not like they’re going to be racing up to 70mph on an on-ramp, swerving between cars, and slamming on the brakes for a red light. The motion of the truck will be negligible and the sound will be from a soundtrack inside, not diesel motors and air brakes.

What’s the use of spending millions on a train rather than buses if the people inside can’t tell the difference?

Hogwarts express makes sense to be a train, you see it arrive, you see it leave, you walk the corridors… the train is essential to the experience, none of that will be true for the transport… Hogwarts also sees as many guests in one day than the Starcruiser will likely see in an entire year.

I hate when Disney cheaps out but I also don’t see any need to throw away millions of dollars for no reason.

I wanted to go back and see if I was always one of the "Haters" of this project as some have suggested. Looking at my posts starting all the way back from 5 years ago when the project was announced in 2017 really makes me feel sad for what could have been. Peruse the post to watch someone go through many different emotions and excuse please the wall of text.
I am beyond excited for this and will gladly forgo some Disney Cruises to pay for this.

I'll be there too! I'll buy you each a glass of Corellian Brandy!

I wonder if my wife would mind dressing like a Twilek? Blue or green, so many decisions.

I'm thinking $5-10k for a 3 night stay for a family of 4. All inclusive except for merchandise. Basically I'm viewing this exactly like an interstellar cruise. I also think you will get to choose how many nights you want to stay based on a package, just like a 3 or 4 night cruise. I am interested in terms of what the amenities and recreation will be. All virtual? A pool? So many possibilities!

I agree. And for those who are saying this won't be a luxury experience, Chapek states it will be a level of luxury never seen before right in his presentation. I stand by my $5-10k for a family of four.

At least for those of us who love Star Wars and Disney, it will provide a great experience initially. My family and I will do it at least once, just not sure if we'll do it again after.

I’m curious to see what they make the outside of the hotel look like. When you approach a DCL ship, excitement build because the ship is gorgeous. I hope they try to do the same thing with this. If it looks like a rehab center like “Reflections - a Lakeside Lodge” they will have seriously screwed up.

SPECULATION!

Some are complaining about this just being a bus, but I'm thinking there's actually some pretty basic things they could do that would greatly enhance your "flight" to and from Batuu in ways a monorail could not.

Anyone remember the German blocks in Test Track 1.0?

Imagine how a similar pavement treatment could simulate turbulence on planet entry. How playing with the slope and grade of the road could give the craft something of a tilting sensation. Think of how much they did with the driving surfaces on Kilimanjaro Safaris. I don't think it's that much of a stretch that similar techniques paired with immersive sound and visuals could give us something well removed from just a trip on an enclosed bus.

This would require at least a portion of the bus's route to be a dedicated lane, but I don't think that's at all implausible.

Thoughts?

I'm probably as big a SW fan as they come, and I'm in the demographic who could and would spend stupid amounts of money for a unique experience. When this was first announced I was really looking forward to it, but the more photos I see, the more and more disappointed, for lack of a better term, I'm feeling. All the promo's have primarily been showing young kid type of activities which has caused me to feel like this almost seems like a glorified kids' club that we'd find on one of the Disney Cruises. The main difference between this and a Disney Cruise, even a 3 night one that stops at Castaway Cay (I guess the equivalent is Batuu), is that there are pools, a much large space, balconies, and sunshine. My kids are teens and the likelihood that they'd want to stay in two smallish appearing bunks and have a bunch of pretty young looking kids running around where they can't even go to a pool is pretty slim. I'm hoping Disney puts out more info soon showing the scope of what they're trying to accomplish and that it is completely amazing, but for now it looks like we won't be making the trip. And that's ok, the $10K I'll save will let us stay in a 2 bedroom DVC for 11 or 12 days.

After looking at that itinerary, unless the reviews are truly stellar, I'm out. I feel like everything would be rushed, and really not all that enjoyable because of the time constraints. Too bad because my family and I are the demo for this thing, given we're star wars nuts. Ex: here's one of the rooms in our house

My wife and I are cracking up at this video of D’amaro. Was that supposed to make us drop $10K for the “experience”? This looked so pitiful. It looks like something that should be on one of the Disney Cruise ships, where it would be completely fine, but here. Holy crap it looks so underwhelming. I wonder how many people that made reservations are having second thoughts?
And the rest of the posts just get more negative but humorous from there.

So can adult guests of WDW now wear full-length robes as costumes outside of Halloween?

Anyone over 14 cannot wear a costume outside of Halloween. Adults can still do Disney Bounding, dressing in a outfit inspired by a character. Sort of hurts the whole Starcruiser immersion thing if you can't wear the same outfit on the Starcruiser and in GE.

I’m confused…why should one group ever see the paupers outside?

Imagine if during bad weather, the driver can "tune up" how "bad" the shaking of the ride will be to simulate additional scenarios.

So when rude and unruly guests board.. the CM can set to "jedi cataclysm". Making them tumble like clothes in a dryer.
Or just play the recording: "We seem to be flying through a micro meteor shower bust." Or "We have entered the atmosphere of Batuu and it is raining!"

Now, see. I find this confusing in that they didn't mention the "no costumes on adults rule" but only used the same language they use for Halloween, which is that adults can wear costumes, but nothing dragging on the floor, or can get caught on a ride.

So, Disney says "costumes" but only excluding costumes with full-length robes.

To me... not clear at all.

Are you asserting they're going to load Starcruiser guests into this? No theming of any kind?

iu
I never said that.
What I said was they are building a Starwarsy looking interior into that space.
Likely (hopefully) with built in sound, and hopefully a video of some sort - that I'm assuming will be on the far wall behind the cab.
What I don't believe is that they are building in any type of motion simulation, or video screens depicting your view as you "fly."

To be fair it was only spotted as a drone photographed it at the hotel? Had that not happened then we probably wouldn't even know it was connected to the ride. The obsession some have at finding fault in everything is quite staggering.

Oh, great point! I continue to be non-worried about using a box truck for the space shuttle to the park.

There are a lot of other things to worry about with this project, unfortunately. ;)
