Yeah, this entire experience was conceived as a dinner theater you sleep in for one night.Sorry, a conversion to a deluxe? Seriously, what price are you willing to pay for a 180 square foot room at a hotel with no direct transportation to parks and no pool? It's 70% the size of value rooms.
It's not just a hotel. You're paying for the two day experience, not for overnight accommodations so you can hit the parks. For the high price of the Starcruiser and the inability to enter any parks outside of Galaxies Edge
For the first month or two it was selling out completely.Remember when this thing had only been open for a month or two and many of us looked at the lack of relative sellouts as a worrying sign, some of the defenders kept insisting that those “open” dates could mean there was just one vacancy/sailing?
Even I posted several times the hope that they would run out of the 'whales' paying full price and discounting it so that I could go.I'd guess that 90% of is here are NOT shocked or supprised in any way about this news. I think that most of us fully predicted and expected this (and more) happening to this hotel.
It’s nice to see other people have the same sentiment I do. Never have liked bob 1, and have said for a long time that many of his “ideas” are weak attempts to cover up the lack of true creativity and original ideas. I mean, anyone can spend a ton of money (that isn’t their own) on stupid things like the overpriced fox acquisition…Disney parks operate on a mass market, middle class to lower upper class market.
That’s the design and how they’ve generated consistent revenue and profit.
What’s happened these last 10 or so years under idiot Bob is that people who LOVE their Disney - many of us the backbone of forums such as this or bloggers for profit - have lent license to this completely nutso idea that “now they’re luxury”
No…not sustainable. What happened was their attendance fell flat 2015-2016 and Bob had no explanation whatsoever. It was price gouging before the reign of king idiot the 1st pumped more cash that wasn’t there into the economy - fyi - and actually was bolstered by the free money virus episode.
But the fundamentals aren’t there for parks.
So Bob issued some “luxury” quip…like he announced himself the Queen of Sheba.
The board room at Disney…is very tight lipped. And it’s been more or less a cult of personality for 30 years. Chapek jeopardized that so they offed him. Only one other person not named Bob knows how parks actually work. And the evolution in tech/media jeopardized that being exposed everytime things are rough. It’s too big of a chunk of their portfolio.
If works best in best in parks when the 100% middle of the road family can go every other year or so from Ohio. It will never be “whales”. But you can’t pump stock $5 a day on that reality. Bad for “business”
You also need those “cheap, freeloading” annual passes.
…here Endeth it.
Shocked?I'd guess that 90% of is here are NOT shocked or supprised in any way about this news. I think that most of us fully predicted and expected this (and more) happening to this hotel.
Is there anybody on the forum that is sincerely shocked and supprised?
Good idea. Less voyages should create artificial demand, right?Disney begins canceling some Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser voyages this summer

Hey…they load up a lot of stars in that tub.Unfortunately, I think Disney is going to overcorrect the wrong way if the Star Cruiser eventually goes the way of the Titanic. I think they will think guests do not like the LARPing concept which couldn't be further from the truth. Nobody can pay the price, and those that can and can do so multiple times do not see the value in this particular concept. I think most of us would absolutely go if the price was significantly lower. I can only assume they need the current profit margins to operate. Oh well there is always the Star Trek cruise!

…except nobody’s paying. It's not just a hotel. You're paying for the two day experience, not for overnight accommodations so you can hit the parks.
…boy…that sure sounds like a couple of thousand Vloggers and Disney hard-os…For the first month or two it was selling out completely.
From March to August, it pretty much sold out completely.
But thanks for reminding us how people misinterpreted those "open" dates as a sign of its imminent failure and how they were totally wrong.
Plus, they turned off legions of fans by making this experience content that a large portion of Star Wars fans don't want.Unfortunately, I think Disney is going to overcorrect the wrong way if the Star Cruiser eventually goes the way of the Titanic. Can anybody tell me the answer to this?Shocked?
There’s isn’t one if they’re honest…
Prepared to spin an elaborate web of excuses? (because they can’t separate their reality of life today from that “magical” 4 nighter on the Disney Dream in 2016)…stay tuned.
I am aware of this. You are paying for the experience, but a voyage like this (priced high) could complement a true WDW vacation and a discount could be offered. Have vacation packages that help bundle, like the old Cruise and Land trips of years ago. It's not just a hotel. You're paying for the two day experience, not for overnight accommodations so you can hit the parks.
If the new parking lot names at EPCOT are any indication it is clear, to your point above, that the disconnect is alive and well and will continue. Can anybody tell me the answer to this?
How is it that "we" the "fans" knew this was not going to work...yet Disney didnt know this. For most of us, this hotel was CLEARLY a bad idea but somehow...Disney did not agree with us.
I can only conclude that Disney creatives and executives are SEVERELY disconnected and out of touch with their customers. They dont understand what Star Wars is...they dont know what Epcot is...they dont know what Indiana Jones is....the list of things they dont understand about the properties they own is very long.
There's got to be a better price point that would both make the margins Disnay would be happy with AND be low enough to fill the calendar I would think.
