The problem is that the rooms are good only when they're paired with the experience--you're supposed to stay in them for as short a time as possible because otherwise you're missing out on the storyline. Without that, you have time to notice poor ventilation and soundproofing, hard mattresses, lack of space, and all the other little or not so little annoyances. I've read plenty of glowing reviews of this thing but not one has mentioned the plush accommodations.
I think there’s a general agreement that the facility isn’t great…not a lot of parsing there.
They went cheap…and tried to sell some cruiseline type stuff that isn’t resonating to the level they want. They haven’t even tried to pump it. See alot of ads for this? Nope…not at all. It’s like it’s not even under Disneys control it’s been so quiet.
My spider sense went off when I watched the GMA puff piece on it when it opened and it was nothing. It was like a trailer for a really bad movie where they couldn’t get an intriguing 30 Seconds together.
Smelled bad right there.

But look what you have to sell now? A stripped little building?
No cutting edge VR fighter simulator…no Jedi training academy…no bustling alien (rhe one in the park is good for about 15 minutes and prolly not even that long) bar or restaurant.

Not looking good on this ship, Leo

A lot of that goes away with a much cheaper price and the ability to explore the the theme parks because you don't feel rushed to see all you paid thousands for.
explore the parks? Wait - you think this is or has been targeted to first/one timers?

This has to be bought by wdw customers with an old hat.

I said upthread - and I meant it - this was DOA with Star Wars fans…

That’s not to say you can’t casually sell a $200 plastic lightsaber or droid in the park to seldom visitors…different gimmick and different marks with that stuff

True, also why Battu mostly failed expectations long term. Nickeled and dimes to where even the casual curious won't go in and buy something from the bigger sellers in the land.

That whole “concept” is a lack of concept.

It’s the land of ambiguity for an IP that created very strong emotional attachment. And not just for old dudes like the one that drives my car. Staying power with the prequel peeps too…

So isn’t that a great example in what NOT to do?

I’m unsure what’s inappropriate about this. This is how this activity is supposed to be hosted. The training for Starcruiser cast is VERY long and intensive. She wasn’t set up for failure and hosted this very well
She is doing great. It’s the same routine as they do with the kids at the Pop pool every afternoon except the costumes are better at Pop. 😉

4 people, 5 nights on DCL (next month) in a verandah room is $2k less than 2 nights on this bucket of bolts.

And that wasn’t even my choice, I’m pushing for RC or NCL for our next cruise, but one of the kids wanted one last cruise to hang out in Vibe before they age out.

What’s amazing is how badly and how consistently Disney has fouled up with this franchise. They’ve had one hit in 11 years of ownership. Truly astounding levels of unbridled hubris combined with stunning levels of ineptness and cluelessness.

Well they’ve had profitable movies.

But are any of them watchable now? One…and it’s the one Kennedy took a public crap on, ridiculed the director and banished him. The only one that answer questions like a Star Wars fan - I might add…
The others are Richie Cunningham out of the bullpen…lego guys disgruntled…one quit when he saw he had to follow golden boy…Spielberg Jr fled for Netflix and gets all defensive when asked about Star Wars…outright war with Patty Jenkins…

Is that it?

Oh…knives in Skywalker back…the Prodigal son…
Who understood so little he presents the force as like chicken pox - we all got lt - and had the most beloved bit character this side of boba fett sucked out of a window so the path was clear for admiral krysten sinema - plant lady from Jurassic park - to crash a ship. After of course some creepy talk about dating princess leia’s corpse who was ungloriously paraded across the “Rocky horror creeper show” when she was DEAD. Nothing shot prior.

That fool fights with fans on Twitter and claims he’s making movies that will never be made - concept never to be determined 🤓

You really can’t make this up. But you can make it up easier than anyone can make an excuse for any of it.

Filoni and favreau plugged a couple holes in the boat…it’s still listing badly.

If you get 10 Star Wars fans together you'll get 20 opinions and 30 suggestions on "how to fix it" but they really did run that poor story ragged.

Although if they had to do "somehow Palpatine returned"... WHERE IS PALPATINE IN THE THEME PARK? He came back from being thrown down a giant space well and an entire planet sized explosion but they can't have him cackle at you on a dark ride? I hate this!

Sorry, a conversion to a deluxe? Seriously, what price are you willing to pay for a 180 square foot room at a hotel with no direct transportation to parks and no pool? It's 70% the size of value rooms.
No windows. Looks terrible from the exterior (no attempt at exterior theming). Once they strip out the costly entertainment it will feel as dead and lifeless inside as Batuu (sensing a recurring theme?)

I don’t know what sort of quick service food options they have. If absent it would require retrofitting, which means throwing more money at this thing, which is likely untenable, and again, not sure you could justify the labor costs given the small number of rooms.

@Sirwalterraleigh ’s post earlier has me thinking:

Is Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser a canary in the coal mine for the folly of Disney’s tactic of chasing high dollar customers?

This is functionally DOA. There doesn’t appear to be a sustainable market for it.

I can’t help but see a common thread for other P&R efforts to chase after the well-heeled. EPCOT’s central core is still a dirt pit due in part to the costly party vantage point for HarmoniUs (also soon to be gone).

The Wish seems to have been not well received as compared to other DCL boats. No one’s seen the interiors of the new Poly DVC but it hasn’t inspired confidence.

Anyhow, it seems the strong pivot to chase after “whales” has been undone, whether be economic forces or really uninspired design choices (or some combination of both)

It would work well as a jail or holding facility.

Well facts take time to come out and one fact that is clear is that the pool of people (a very talkative, noisy group) that found this experience to be worth the price is actually quite small and limited.
Remember when this thing had only been open for a month or two and many of us looked at the lack of relative sellouts as a worrying sign, some of the defenders kept insisting that those “open” dates could mean there was just one vacancy/sailing?

Disney parks operate on a mass market, middle class to lower upper class market.

That’s the design and how they’ve generated consistent revenue and profit.

What’s happened these last 10 or so years under idiot Bob is that people who LOVE their Disney - many of us the backbone of forums such as this or bloggers for profit - have lent license to this completely nutso idea that “now they’re luxury”

No…not sustainable. What happened was their attendance fell flat 2015-2016 and Bob had no explanation whatsoever. It was price gouging before the reign of king idiot the 1st pumped more cash that wasn’t there into the economy - fyi - and actually was bolstered by the free money virus episode.
But the fundamentals aren’t there for parks.
So Bob issued some “luxury” quip…like he announced himself the Queen of Sheba.

The board room at Disney…is very tight lipped. And it’s been more or less a cult of personality for 30 years. Chapek jeopardized that so they offed him. Only one other person not named Bob knows how parks actually work. And the evolution in tech/media jeopardized that being exposed everytime things are rough. It’s too big of a chunk of their portfolio.

If works best in best in parks when the 100% middle of the road family can go every other year or so from Ohio. It will never be “whales”. But you can’t pump stock $5 a day on that reality. Bad for “business”

You also need those “cheap, freeloading” annual passes.

…here Endeth it.

That was obvious from the start.
What gave it away is they don’t promote this at all. They never wanted attention on it when they realized it wasn’t gonna work. Which I bet was before it was half built.

The tepid response to Star Wars land in Anaheim probably gave it away. Bob removed all the benches for those 6 hour lines to get in. I was there like 3 months after opening….tumbleweed.

You may have hit on a concept for a new experience. Have a 2-day experience being detained as a rebel scum spy in a galactic Imperial prison ship. 🤪
They just need to add the slide to the trash compactor. And add this to the dining menu
