I wonder if the "door" extends some sort of canopy or cover so even if the driver misses the mark. They can still "extend" the connection bridge to prevent the users from viewing the unthemed cast member only section.
Similar on how planes have this canopy that roll and cover the plane side.
Since you board in space, there better not be a single ray of sunshine viewable on that end.

We all know there are no suns in space!!

Obviously there could be light shining through, assuming the cruise is close enough to a star.

I assume they'll have a large vacuum or fan sucking air out the opening. Make sure you board fast while you mind the gap. 😬

Presumably the ship would be in orbit around Batuu, so light would make sense, both from the solar system's star itself and reflecting off of Batuu.

That’s the point. Light from the seal means an opening to space. And a complete breakdown in the “immersion”.
Hence the sucking as the air escapes. Maybe they'll catch a few wallets with it.

Or, how about the excursion needs to jump to hyperspace. They could have a lever, someone gets to pull it in each direction.

There you go, solved the whole "lever" problem and created way more chances for people. 🤔

You really think an unsealed gap would be fine when boarding the transport?

I was only talking about light in space. If you wanted to be technical about it, then yeah, a gap would mean pressurization issues etc. if this was real life -- although only if you were supposed to be actually going out into a vacuum.

You could easily be boarding a shuttle inside a docking bay on the Halcyon, which would make that irrelevant. You're obviously on the planet surface when entering/exiting Galaxy's Edge, so it's not an issue there.

Regardless, that seems like an incredibly minor thing to be worried about. There appear to be much larger issues with this experience, but if it's actually great, I don't think anyone will really care about a little light leakage there.

Yes, I feel like we can all agree that the marketing has been surprisingly bad and the itinerary looks underwhelming.

Nitpicking aspects of the experience we have no idea about such as what it will be like to board and ride in the trucks seems a little premature. I'm also still a little surprised at all these suggestions of platforms and moving walkways stretching over the DHS cast parking lot as a more elegant and thematically appropriate solution.

It doesn't need crazy tech, many box trucks have air shocks which raise and lower the box to match a loading dock (so you can drive a forklift onto them). Combining a simple lowering/raising effect with interior video screens and loud interior metallic banging sounds when you detach and attach from the loading zones would give a good-enough feeling of motion without being crazy expensive.
I'm quite convinced they're not doing that.

Yeah, I think it will be a well* themed interior with either a video or AA** of the the pilot shuttling you from the Halycon to Batuu

*Based on set pieces seen already of the Halycon, may not be "well" as in good, just themed
**LOL, it'll be a video screen

If you're boarding in space.
My take is that boarding in space requires themed "air locks", and making that box truck feel like a space ship.
It seems far easier to shuttle you down to Batuu, the same way they shuttle you up to the Halcyon. (same room different video)
Then, when you're down - you board ground transport that drives you to Black Spire.
It makes a lot more sense then trying to make a flight simulator out of a box truck.
There's already a simulator in the building.
Plus, that's how trips are done in the real world anyway.
Your flight doesn't land you at the door of your destination.

Except, we've seen the floorplan layout, and they're in different areas. Plus, how hard is 2 doors to show an air lock? Especially if it's a big one, eve more if they don't close the inner door during transit. Just open the interior blast door and leave it open. Every grocery store has a two door air lock on your way in.

It's probably easier to simulate decent from orbit on screens in a windowless transport than ground transportation being that way. Isn't Black Spire a space port too? Not some village that's off in the distance away from the space port. So, you would tend to land at the space port.

Thought of another way, if FL was Star Wars, everyone would be happy to just visit MCO and wouldn't need to leave at all.
